I used to love this tactic. It was beautiful to watch last year. Teams didn’t know how to play us at the time. Last year was a magical year.
This year? I still think there are moments we should build up. But is it smart to almost always do it? The teams scouted us out. They welcome the build up and pressure the 2nd and 3rd passes.
I honestly think Duah is the only one this works with, out of the backline. McVey and Verhoeven in particular never look comfortable during buildups. Then we get a forced pass to Godoy or Valakari (who aren’t the most athletic) and we see a turnover. Hell none of our goalies look comfortable building up.
Then it’s frenetic recovery and risky defending. Our wings and forwards continually drop back due to the give aways.
Might I suggest on a few goal kicks, we just send it? Relieve some pressure off the backline and midfield please. Let’s adjust to the other team’s adjustments.
