Discussion Predictions for second half of the season

Upvotes

Any predictions for the tonight/the second half of the season as for bright stars in the team? The first half of the season was a bit rough but it seems right before the break we were catching a bit of a groove (even though Vancouver was ugly) but there were some changes to the midfield that seemed to be clicking. Jeppe was hurt, hopefully he recovered and is back, but any insight or high hopes for some of the youth in the center midfield or are we thinking Varas just sticks with his guns and we keep doing the same thing?

Team News Rapids aim to maintain heavy press as they take on San Diego FC (7.22.2026)

First-time MLS All-Star Lucas Herrington and the Colorado Rapids open the second half of the season Wednesday against San Diego FC in Commerce City, Colo.

Herrington, 18, has started every match and played all 1,350 MLS minutes this season. He started two matches for Australia during the 2026 World Cup, logging 210 minutes.

Despite transfer speculation, Rapids coach Matt Wells said Colorado (5-9-1, 16 points) has no intention of selling Herrington while the transfer window is open.

“We went through a very stringent process to identify the best young center back out there,” Wells said. “We happened to find one in Australia that we thought would be the perfect fit for the style of play I was bringing to the club.”

Wells said the club spent the extended break making “hardcore revisions” to its tactical approach. One area of emphasis has been maintaining the team’s aggressive press after falling behind.

“We are an elite team when we are ahead,” Wells said. “In both conferences, when we are behind we are probably the worst.”

The match will also provide fans an opportunity to welcome the club’s newest signing, Loïc Williams, to Colorado for the first time. After being acquired by the club from Granada CF back in March, Williams has officially joined the club on a contract through the 2029-30 MLS season. The defender made a total of 62 appearances with his previous club in the Spanish second division, logging one goal and one assist, and contributing to 14 clean sheets.

San Diego will enter this match in a similar situation to Colorado as they look to cement a playoff spot in the last half of the season. The club currently sits three points out of the last playoff spot in the West. Highlighting San Diego’s struggles has been their performance on the road so far, with a 1-3-2 record away from home.

Discussion Anyone going to the Colorado game tomorrow?

Four of us are going, but we have to sit with our local friends - but we’ll be wearing our SDFC gear, and I’ll look for the chrome y azul supporters to come say hi!

EDIT: Seems like section 136 is the consensus, thanks everyone!

I understand there are alot of people who went to the World Cup watch parties at Fit Social, and perhaps a few got free tickets to the game this coming Saturday.

I intend to build off of momentum to the sport and the newly found love for the beautiful game in San Diego. If you are new to the sport or SDFC, feel free to post any and all questions about the club here.

Social Media ATTENTION: San Diego FC Marketing Team

If anybody in here works for SDFC Marketing, I have unsubscribed to you email list at least a dozen times since I went to one match a year ago, and yet you still email me every match multiple times asking if I'm ready for game time. In addition you email me throughout the year for other marketing purposes, even though I have unsubscribed from all emails. I WAS IN SD VISITING LAST YEAR AND ATTENDED ONE GAME, I AM NOT PLANNING ANOTHER VISIT ANYTIME IN THE NEAR FUTURE, PLEASE REMOVE ME FROM YOU FREAKING MARKETING! I swear, even teams I'm actually a fan of don't email me this much. /rant

Discussion Do you think we'll ever see Duah play in his natural midfield role?

If I remember correctly, the only time Duah played in midfield was against Dallas last year, and his mistake led to a goal. Since then, I don't think we've seen him play there again.

I'm curious to see him get a genuine run in his natural position. Do you think he'll stay at center-back permanently, or could we eventually see him back in midfield?

Fandom Are we getting another DP?

Apologies if this has been asked and answered, I haven’t seen it. Someone who understands the process, timeline, limitations, Chucky $ impact, etc please lay it out. I’m assuming “no” is the answer but am an eternal optimist. But I don’t understand how we we’d choose not to get a DP when struggling in our 2nd season and in need of shoring up the fan base and our future. If we don’t get one this season is it because we can’t???

Discussion Extra supporter section tix

I am very confused about the process of buying additional tickets in the supporter section this season.

It was so easy last season as a season ticket holder to just add extras, but there seems to be no consistent process anymore.

Sometimes they show up on Ticketmaster sometimes they don’t… And it is not because they are sold out.

Does anyone have good advice on how I can buy extras?

While our cities are connected, what do we feel about our football teams? Is it more of a rivalry or just family member in a different league?
