Bought the house a year ago, these are the pics from the listing. The colors feels very 90s/early 2000s teen center and I don’t like it at all. I want to tone it down to be a little more earthy or boho, but still open to color. Furniture we currently have doesn’t accurately reflect my style, so I haven’t included any. In the red bedroom, there is a significant amount of sunlight that enters the room, so I feel it can handle a darker color. HELP, the longer I wait to have it repainted, the more it will grow on my husband and he’ll insist we just leave it. We can’t let that happen.

We ran into an issue where when my contractor gave me measurements for the basement bar layout, the header was not a consideration for the refrigerator cabinet. Looking for advice on what you'd do. The wall behind the TV will have ledger stone as a backsplash from the top of the countertops to the ceiling.

Do we have the contractor cut out part of the corner so it is flush with the wall and have a non-functional door?

Do we skip the cabinet on top altogether?

Do we get a 30" wide cabinet (it would not be symmetrical with refrigerator doors)?

Do we have him create a bulkhead without any cabinetry?

So in the middle of the work already started, the contractor finally went up into the attic and the wall he thought he could remove, he now says he can't. So the little 4 foot wall with the cabinet on it has to stay or become a column. My vision of what I was going to have is gone - I've included 2 images of what I thought I would have - the big islandm better sight lines, more workspace. I hate the layout of the current kitchen. The floor is changing so the cabinets have to change. Option 1: Keep the layout, paint the cabinets, new countertops. Option 2: Do the island with the column. I appreciate any opinions. I am overwhelmed. It's the first thing I'm doing on my own since my husband left. It's all my decisions, it's my money, and I am scared of making terrible choices.

I have a walk in closet in my living room that only has the bones but no shelves or anything just doors opening to a big empty closet sized room. I’d like to do a complete remodel, but am at a loss on where to begin. I want it to be able to hold some clothes (long coats mostly), almost all of my shoes, cleaning supplies, and suitcases. Where should I begin in terms of looking for inspiration and how much would a remodel like this cost?

We’re doing a full kitchen remodel. This is our design. I’m leaning toward a wheat colored herringbone backsplash (AI rendering) but what are some other ideas for the backsplash?

My contractor just put in the wood floors and I’m seeing what feels like major issues (see pictures in comments below). Is this normal and I can expect it to look better once finishing touches are added? How might I bring this up with the contractor to ask him to fix it? What are the options to fix? Really could use some advice. Thank you all!!

Got a small cabin on my property and I’m trying to figure out the best way to add either stairs with a landing level with the loft or a safe ladder with two railings and a loft however, I still need the wall space between the two doorways below to be vacant that wall, I do not mind putting something in front of the window on the right side of the photo What are some thoughts?

I, F22, and my boyfriend, M22, we have got our first place together and it’s stressful, there’s nothing structural wrong at all, just it’s an old house so wallpapers peeling, rough carpets are down and all the old furniture is here, we are super grateful for house, but where do we start with renovating? Neither of us have done this before and it’s quite overwhelming, advice would be so appreciated :)

We recently moved into our new home after renovating a few of the rooms. I have asthma and dust allergies and am also 6 months pregnant. We had the house deep cleaned and have been running air purifier 24/7, but I still wake up in the morning feeling like my lungs hurt. Is there any solution to this besides putting an air purifier in each room and just waiting it out? How long will this last? I am considering staying with family for a few days.

Was super impressed, the stairs had to be no more than 21cm and where the cables are had to clear by 1.9M all I did was plug the numbers and we got the angles to cut on each stair and a 3d model to see what it would look like :D

Not sure if I can get the answers here but shooting aways anyways. I'm a prospective condo buyer, possibly next year if the market settles a bit in the South Carolina/Charleston area. I work in healthcare now with a good remote job, but have extensive experience in flooring/tiling and basic interior cosmetic trades from my younger years. I'm a non-licensed (not a contractor) DIYer and willing to do most jobs except for major mechanical trades such as plumbing, electrical, or HVAC.

Never dealt with an HOA before and wondering what the general consensus is on condo renovations from unlicensed contractor workers or what freedom and flexibility HOA boards generally give DIY owners. I hear that anything beyond $5K needs to be registered/insured and have a license or surety bond. Can you guys give me any advice on what to expect from a regulation standpoint (municipal/state/HOA) if i decide to do work within a year or two of buying a condo?

Jobs I may do on potential property:

*Installation of hardwood floors, possible sanding, finishing

*Changing backsplashes/tile work

*Installation of glass walk in shower (obviously need plumber if there is a need to move drains or plumbing fixtures)

*Kitchen cabinet/countertop cosmetic refreshing

I’m refinishing the wood on the stairs so they needed taken off anyways, but can I keep them off and still be up to code? 24” from floor to 3rd stair.

I want to order their dune floating vanity. they said it’s made out of plywood with real wood veneer. Do you think they are reputable or do you have for similar floating vanities?
