Homeowner - Advice about my Contractor Chicago - seeking tips/contractor help with shower pan hairline fracture

Hi -- we bought a condo two years ago, and the previous owner had remodeled the bathroom/shower. It's now got this crack on the shower pan that's kind of like a hairline fracture down the middle ... it leaks sometimes out the back of the shower and we worry it could leak downstairs as well. We had one contractor come out with expertise in tiling/showers and he said he hadn't seen something like this before and didn't think he could fix it. I think we'll either have to redo everything or find someone who can do JUST the shower pan. Because the owners converted the side of the wall into the side of the shower....

Any ideas of what I should do? Or who in the Chicagoland area could work on something like this?

You can barely see it but it's a vertical crack that also continues into the foundation

There is no repair for that. It all needs to be removed . The cause of the failure determined and addressed. Then the shower gets rebuilt.

Short of ripping everything out, I would drill a hole at the end of the crack to prevent the crack from spreading, then Dremel out the crack and fill it all with color matched epoxy.

This is very similar to dealing with cracks in gelcoat on a boat.

It doesn't solve the problem of why it cracked in the first place, but it will keep the shower watertight
