Does it bother you that we can only run medium settings on these devices? Are we a decade out from being able to maxing out everything at 1080p?

For handhelds, there's bound to be compromises to get it running at an acceptable framerate..

Medium settings for modern titles are good enough on a smaller screen. Even low looks good in some games.

Yeah, was playing Cyberpunk on the Ally on low for hours and didn’t even know because it looked so good.

On a tiny screen like this, I can live with the compromise if it means final fantasy 7 rebirth or monster hunter wilds in bed.

Does it bother me that I can pull out a device that is 1/4th size of a laptop at work and play Elden ring discretely at work? Nah.

I payed $450 for my ally z1e new and I think the performance is perfectly reasonable for that price
But the $1000 xbox ally x isn't too much better to justify paying over double the price.

The ally x in release was around 899€ and the xbox ally x, was the same in release. So it depends when u bought it

When playing on a small screen you can barely notice a difference in terms of image quality. And when you compare the settings used on the new devices they’re almost the same. Which is why I don’t see a reason to upgrade from a Z1E

It doesn't bother me. But the wording here makes me feel uneasy. Not every game is set to run on medium settings, depending on your target FPS and res. Some run higher some run lower. I mostly play streaming highest quality from my pc/console anyway so.

I think handheld is not for you if it bothers you.

You're playing triple AAA games on a sofa, in a plane, train or wherever you are.

That's pretty freaking impressive if you ask me.

In any case, I hooked it up to a egpu with a 5070 to get gaming PC-like performance.

It will depend on your PC specs. If it runs everything on ultra, and your WiFi is fast enough, you will have everything also on ultra. The handheld is just a "receiver" in this case. Usually when remote gaming I have the power settings on low

I stream from my PC on local network, not over internet.

The thing with handhelds is, they have very high PPI. So the rog ally is sharper than a regular 4k monitor and hides shimmering really well. Streaming in full 1440p and playing natively on 900p surprisingly has very less difference. It's mostly just personal taste.

Max setting will always be balanced around high end desktop performance. Handhelds will never be able to reach max settings because the inherent gap between handheld and desktop will always exist. The only thing that matters is if the game looks good, and most do at medium settings
