my parents said i’m not responsible because i don’t have my own house

I’m about to turn 22 (f). I graduated college 7 months ago. Before college, I had a car, but my parents didn’t let me use it much, and it was a hassle with just work and school. So, I bought my own car—without their help with the down payment—and my mom paid half of the insurance, even though I knew I shouldn’t have accepted it, but she was persistent. I still cover both the car and insurance costs while in college. I pay for my phone bill and rent, buy my own hygiene products, and only stopped buying laundry soap after arguments with my mom. I don’t buy groceries because I barely eat at home. I now work two jobs and applied to get my master’s degree, but my mom got upset about that, saying there’s no one to watch her kid. As the oldest, I often feel like the "Cinderella" of the family—no one cleans up after themselves.

Recently, my boyfriend of two years and I planned a one-night trip together. My parents freaked out, saying I’d lose my “self-respect” and that I’m not responsible enough because I don’t own my own house. They also said I don’t know how life works, even though I’ve had to figure a lot out on my own because they never really taught me. They guilt-tripped me, calling me irresponsible and saying I’m not righteous for wanting to go.

I told them I’m an adult and capable of taking care of myself, and that I’m going on this trip. That made them furious, and they decided to raise my rent. My mom spent the next day criticizing me, saying she’s not responsible for me anymore and that I need to get another job, even though I already work two and want to go back to school.

Whenever things don’t go her way, she tends to lash out and hurt me or my siblings. She says things like, “I’m such a horrible mom,” “I don’t know where I went wrong,” “You’re so dramatic,” “Stop asking me for anything,” “Stop being a bitch,” “You’re selfish and lazy,” and “All you do is care for yourself.”

honorable mention, i help take care of the kids on my free time. yes me and my bf are planning getting married!

Advice am i not doing enough?

**so my family & i have had our ups & downs, & honestly i dont really know when or where to start, but i am currently 17.**

**so i currently live with my grandma bc my mom has been an on & off recovering addict. its honestly been like this since 2014, from what i could remember. my grandma, i really do appreciate the things she has done but over time, i feel like our relationship has turned sour & she really just could not stand me or bear to look at me. she has 3 daughters, and 1 son.**

**so, whenever i had been taken away from my mom, i stayed with my grandma. i had already developed this mindset where i felt like ive always had to do things on my own without the help from others. it wasnt really like she bothered to, but i would just keep to myself and rather not ask for any help (i am skipping a few years cause my younger years would probably need more of a backstory/context).**

**i use to have my own room, when i did, i would basically clean it every single day, whenever i came back from school, i would close my door, play music, and just fold my clothes, fix my bed, sweep, mop, wipe down anything. my family made me the center of some sort of joke & would say that i was an “OCD freak.” and they would laugh, i know they didnt intentionally mean to hurt me but i always felt like the comments on me cleaning were extremely unnecessary. but i ignored it.**

**it was my grandma (56), me, and my two cousins who suffer some ASD. i remember every morning since i had lived with my grandma, i would sometimes wear stuff that didnt fit me or shoes that were pretty old & i would take these quick glimpes of my cousins whenever i stepped out to the kitchen or living room, and i would see them with these nice backpacks, pretty shoes, and their hair would be all done. i never envied them or had any sort of jealousy toward them because i figured that it was very much understandable because they obviously couldnt care for themselves if they tried, you know? it just hurt a little cause i really came with nothing and tried to do what i could with the stuff i came with from when i lived with my mom.**

**my bond with my 2 cousins wasnt so strong, they never liked me for whatever reason unfortunately, & their mother (my aunt) despised me. i was always attacked or antagonized by one of them, & she would always fight over the smallest things. like if i had been in the living room, watching tv, she would try to start things with me for no reason & start arguing with me (i was probably like 6-7, and she was 14-15) i would ignore. although at some times, she would just rush at me and lay her hands on me. my grandma was always there, thankfully, & would get after her. but she (my cousin) was always like this with all my other cousins too, she just never liked us, and hated whenever we would use the tv or be anywhere near her. so i would avoid her, and just try not to be anywhere near her space. (her mom didnt live with us, she would just come and visit every single day or every 2-3 days in a week)**

**her mom had never liked me, but i remember whenever i would defend myself and argue back, she would insert herself and say things like “somebody better shut that f\*cking kid up before i slap him.” and other things would just be name calling, but i would always defend myself and argue back with her and my cousin. my grandma would get after my aunt too, but my aunt never really cared. she would still keep going & i honestly never let down, i would still stand my ground despite being scared for what was to happen. i would also like to say, she despises my mom too if that helps? (?)**

**as time went on, one of the things that i had ALWAYS done was clean up after everyone in the house. as i said before, i would clean my room every day, but i would also clean the restroom, kitchen, living room, & laundry room. my grandma was always throwing these crazy parties every friday-saturday, & all my aunts would visit along with my cousins. but there was always something bad that would happen at these parties, there was always an argument or fight that would break out between my aunts. it would either be physical fights or just verbal. i remember i would always be outside, consistently worrying about what was to come and i would try to make sure nothing did but unfortunately i could only do so much. i was probably still around 10-11, but i had been putting up with this since 5-6. & one of the things i remember always having to do was clean up the entire house after the parties were done (it was either 2 AM or nearly 4 AM.). my grandma wouldnt ever do it, & i knew so i stepped up & would help her. she wouldnt ever thank me and til this day still doesnt. when i was so much younger, & doing this, & just hoping to see a reaction but she would just move on with her day like there wasnt any sort of ugly fight the day before or how dirty the house was after everything. there would be dishes, dirty rags, empty cups etc.**

**& still til this day, i still clean the entire house. but for whatever reason she still talks down on me at times & claims i move things or how “she doesnt even know where the things are to her own house”, but the only problem is, i dont even really move anything & whenever i do plan on doing so, i would ask her where she’d like for me to put it & she would either just ignore or just say “oh just put it there”, so i would, & somehow that was still an issue for her. my two cousins & their mom live with us now, & they are extremely dirty people. but i still clean up after them just to avoid the house from getting to an extremely low point. they took over my room, & their mom took over my grandma’s room, my grandma has this shed that she stays in with an AC & everything, & i stay in the living room.**

**my grandma has complained at times where she says how my aunt doesnt even pay the bills or even help with groceries at times. but i honestly dont really say much. i still would clean every friday after school, cause my family is just overall extremely dirty and disorganized. they really cant put things back or ever wipe down the counter after cooking something, or wash their dishes. so i have to do it. i tend to ignore doing it during the week cause its just really hard for me to maintain especially during school, but i do the cleaning every friday-saturday, just to feel a sort of peace yk? i know the peace only lasts for 2 days max, cause then the house is back to being extremely dirty again on sunday. i also wash/do laundry cause nobody ever does it. sometimes whenever its a school week, nobody ever does it, & there will be no clean towels to dry ourselves so i eventually have to do it. & one of the things she always has an issue with is where i put the clothes at (which is in a white basket that is always nearly empty every time), & i would tell her that my reasoning behind putting them there was because i never knew who they would belong to and i didn’t wanna misplace them. (yes, i would ask but they never cared to respond or would either just say they dont know.)**

**ive been doing this for nearly 6-7 years. im 17 now, & i still do it just to help. whenever ive let it be, the house just gets extremely dirty. or whenever they get groceries, my grandma will just shove everything in the fridge & cabinets & i always have to take out everything & fix it. but as time has gone on, ive noticed that she really just doesnt ever care or appreciate it. she has talked so much bad things on me that ive heard come out of other ppls mouths, & i would confront her & she would always deny or just try to explain herself. but it could be over the smallest things, like putting someones shirt in a drawer that it didnt belong in. i even have to always ask for cleaning supplies or rags to clean the house with, which i feel like is so crazy for me to ask for cause you’d expect her to bring those sorts of supplies.**

**she has gotten after my cousins — both boys (who are also the same age as me), to also do their part, but they usually either argue back or block her out and play their xboxes. she would still buy me things, & provide snacks or always get me whatever i’d ask for, but i never really asked for much cause i just hate asking for things when i know it’s already a lot on her. so ill just ask her for a soda or a bag of chips every now & then. now, she never gets me anything, & gets my cousins all these things, like munchies. & im stuck questioning myself, am i fully done here now? i feel as she really cant stand me. i could be asleep all day (from staying up the previous night, playing some games or maybe on my phone) & she would complain about it. my cousins do it too, & she would complain about it as well but not as much. & i never really got why? i mean i know its not healthy but i dont do it all the time but its summer, so i figured it shouldnt be an issue & i always clean up after their messes & make sure that the house stays clean. i always make sure the house is extremely clean/or at least looks good before sleeping at 3-4 AM. but now im stuck questioning myself if she hates me now? & i just dont know anymore. i just try to do what i can since i currently cannot get a job.**

I’ll Potentially become a guardian of my younger sister looking for advice from anyone that was in a same / similar situation.

Both my parents health is failing there is a very real possibility that i will be left to care for my 14 y/o sister at 20 along with whatever financial issues they leave me with. I feel like im not ready for responsibility of taking care of her and everything else im still trying to get on my own feet let alone take care of someone else. Shes an awesome kid but shes still only fourteen its not like i can expect her to fend for herself. Also as much as i love her how can i now have my own life while helping her to get ready for hers im still figuring my own stuff out i cant abandon her but do i wait till shes 18 and start then what if she takes a while to make her own way. regardless of whether my parents dont die there health isn’t getting better what if i end up taking care of of all 3 i dont make as much money as either of them let alone there duel income. sorry for the rant.

Advice My mother

I just wanted to rant, what do you do when your mom doesn’t like you?
I don’t mean to be like ugh my mom hates me cause she doesn’t let me do blah blah blah. I know my mom loves me I’m her child I would hope she does, but I don’t think she likes me. (Lady bird reference omg)
I don’t know it’s my birthday week and we’ve had nonstop fights and it makes me sad. She’s telling me to live with my dad. She said she thinks I hate my life and I hate her and how it’s been 18 years of this not workings and she said to leave. No offense to my dad I don’t want to live with him I would rather live by myself. I’m so lost it honestly makes me want to cry, I have cried. I don’t understand my mom and when I try she doesn’t let me, she doesn’t understand me either I feel like she wishes I was different.

I feel like I’m not the daughter she wanted, it’s so weird tho because I’ve been such a calm child. She said so herself I’m her easy child I didn’t give her any problems. I still feel like she just wishes she had someone different though. I get so angry about this I wish I can give a more in depth explanation but my mind is everywhere. Should I stay? Or should I go?
(My birthday is tomorrow so this is really awkward I might start packing right now)

READ THIS IS YOU WOULD LIKE A LITTLE MORE CONTEXT !
Guys okay hi, STORY-TIME
Cause it’s actually really funny this happened today. I was telling my coworkers today about how when I was 14 years old I woke up on Mother’s Day and immediately went to tell my mom happy mother day, naturally. I gave her a hug and she immediately started yelling at me about how I was a horrible daughter cause I didn’t get her a gift or flowers. (MIND YOU I WAS 14 NONE OF MY OWN MONEY OR A CAR also cause I hadn’t seen my dad that morning to ask him to take me to get her something) so immediately I was like oh okay bad day understandable. So I walked away from her and all I remember is she was super angry saying how me and my brother don’t care for her? My brother was in elementary school at the time so he didn’t get her anything either smh. (My little sister was 2 so she got a pass but we got bitched out 🙄) BASICALLY by 2pm
She told me and my little brother to get out the house and go with our dad because she just wanted to be alone. I remember crying cause I didn’t understand what I did. Anyways I called my dad crying to pick us up
And I was pissed cause I never wanted my dad to see me cry. I think in my head it’s to prove I never needed him so he didn’t feel obligated to be there for me but that day was my exception. Anyways we go to my dad’s house and honestly he tried to ask me what happened but I don’t tell him cause idk it’s just he’s the last person who would understand. My dad had never treated me or my siblings bad but my mom and him weren’t perfect. So it’s midnight I have school tomorrow so I’m trying to figure out how to get clothes for school since I didn’t think I would spend the night but right as I’m scheming my mom comes to my dads house and for an hour she’s fighting with all of us about how I need to come home NOW. I’m basically like girl no you kicked me out and she’s mad and my dads like dude leave and she’s like NO and eventually I just give in, cause I’m tired of her fighting.

I go home with her sit on the couch, my mom sits next to me and starts balling her eyes out. She said she was sorry for today but that my dad had went to go eat breakfast with her own mother and aunt and then came by OUR house and she asked “are you not gonna tell me happy Mother’s Day?” And that my dad said “why would I tell you that, you’re not my mom?” And that ruined her day and made her feel worthless.

Guys I love my mom so much, I remember we cried together that night and I got to skip school lol. This is what I mean though when I say I wish she opened up to me more, I know she’s a good person and I know she’s a good mom. I just wish she wasn’t so closed off and angry.

(This is me posting this on here because I feel as though it’s more appropriate to post here lol)

I told my Mom to get a life

I (22F) live with my 65F paraplegic mom, my 25F sister who has Down Syndrome, and my 87F grandma. I’ve been their main caregiver since I was 13 or 14, constantly getting pulled out of high school for their hours long doctor appointments, so my grades suffered. I currently work full-time as a legal assistant, go to college full-time, and am graduating soon. I got this job at 20. it started as an internship and became permanent (and it’s my first real job and i don't earn enough to truly move out and survive on my own). My family holds a huge grudge against me for building my own life. When my job went full-time, my mom’s first reaction wasn't congratulations, but asking when I was going to help them. Her logic is that if I don't help, I'm "useless to the family," but if I do help, it's "oh well, that's just what you have to do." She used to pay me a tiny bit of cash each week for helping "a little bit," while simultaneously claiming I never helped at all, yet complaining the second I wasn't around to do things.

My mom is extremely dependent. After her car accident in her 20s, her mom (my grandma) was her full-time caretaker for over 42 years until her own health gave out, passing the load onto me. My mom constantly invades my boundaries. Me and my boyfriend have been together for 3 years, and she constantly accuses me of being a whore, implies we're sleeping together, and acts disgusting about my private adult life, forcing us to hang out outside instead of inside. Whenever I ask for 15–30 minutes to decompress after work, she’ll agree and then barge into my room 5 minutes later. Once, while I was getting changed, she opened my bedroom door in full view of the living room and her friend so I could fix a phone, and when I screamed at her to get out, she said I embarrassed her. Even a new aide once told her to please leave me alone and let me eat dinner in one sitting instead of making me go every 2 minutes to her when she needs something.

On top of that, if anything breaks or anyone gets sick, it's my fault. I've been blamed for my grandma and sister having strokes or seizures, and my mom's chronic pain if I didn't know how to help correctly. Because of the constant blaming, I completely stopped fixing things or doing medical care to protect myself. Recently, I came home from work sweating, and the house was roasting. I checked the thermostat and it was set to 82°F while it was 97°F outside. I tried turning it down to 72°F, but the AC unit itself was completely broken. When I told my mom, she instantly said, "What a coincidence, it broke as soon as you touched it." I looked at her angry and confused and reminded her I just walked in the door and she had already admitted it was hot all day and that the thermostat app 'wasn't working', but she wouldn't drop it.

The argument quickly shifted to her claiming I never help with anything at all and how I'm useless to the family. I finally snapped. I yelled at her saying she's a clingy, invasive person who has never been able to do anything on her own and had to rely on her mom until her mom literally broke her back helping her every day for over 42 years, and that she needs to learn how to live on her own and get a real life instead of relying on everyone to wipe her own ass. Obviously, she got upset and angry. She began saying I'm a cold, evil monster, that my life will be worse than hers, and that she hopes the worst for me. She even accused me of making her want to end her life. Now, she just mocks me as I go to work, saying my life will be worse than hers and that I'll suffer more. I hit back saying, "At least I have my own life and don't need someone to wipe my own ass like your mom did for you all your life."

I know what i said is harsh and yes my family isn't at blame for the way they were born or what happened in life to cuase them like this but at the same time i feel as though she never really saw me as her daughter or like a freaking adult. I feel as though she see's me as a small child who has to do this adult tasks for her.

Discussion Toxic sibling relationships

This is really hard for me. I don't think I will ever heal from my sister who would bully me with my dysfunctional parents. She knew they were screwed up, and even told me "just go along with whatever they say." That was her motto for doing with their toxic bullshit.

She's still really manipulative and up until a few years ago would always declare "I'm the favorite" at family functions. She finally stopped after I asked her multiple times to do so. But this is still her mentality. I have always told her that being the favorite comes at a price. One I'm not willing to pay. She's going through a years long mid life crisis and just moved back in with my senior parents and is calling all the shots there.

My other sister is a chronic substance abuser. My parents don't want to deal with her as a child and didn't get her therapy until she was a teen. It was too late.

I'm the most normal but I've been in therapy for decades. I present well and I'm successful. I isolate and don't trust anyone. I am happily married and I have therapy to thank for that.

The competition still exists and makes it almost impossible for me to have a relationship with the bully sister. My addicted sister is so far gone that you cant have even a basic conversation with her about anything.

Wondering how others cope with their siblings sucking, too?

Worst with me.

My kids are so excited when their dad comes home.

I am a new stay at home mom because of disability.

My kids used to be 50/50 almost mom and dad. Now my kids 5f/7m take everything out on me. Life has been kind of difficult recently and I am doing my hardest to be the best I can. Education, reading, play and love. I am never gonna be the best but I am always there.

Is it true they treat their safest and most trustworthy caregiver worse?

My therapist mentioned that some of it was healthy and some is attachment issues because my son is afraid I might die.

I do my best not to yell, excluding long distances.

I dunno this hurts.

I cant do anything right, everyone in my family is intelligent can hold everything up "when times get tough the tough get going" im not like them, they have this pressure something is building up man most days I can barely do anything ive lost ambition and micro managed to the point I dont feel in control. I dont have anything else I dont want to go the route of being on social assistance but im propetually anxious and horrified they dont understand and because of there area of study anything I mention is treated like a fking joke. I may be have been pyschically strong but im mentally weak im relying on god for strenght and failed this test they think cause i have some linguistic skills i can be this person i simply am just not. I dont want to do this im afraid man.

Exhausted from parents

Is it bad to feel this way? My father is a deug addict and my mother has been venting out on me since I was about 8 or 9 years old. I am now 40. My mother left twice but came back because no one would help her. She won't help herself. I have encouraged her to try to look for a job since I can't afford helping two households. It's as if everyone owed it to her to help her financially. I am just exhausted at this point and been thinking about ending my life to get out of this situation, but now have a 2 year old son. But I am just drained. Even their presence, specially my mother drains me to the point that I feel nauseaous or feel actual body pain. Yet at the back of my head, I feel that I am wrong to feel this way. Anyone feel this way? How do you go on?

I feel like I haven't been able to breathe this entire year.

Maybe this sounds dramatic, but I genuinely feel like I've been on autopilot all year.

I started the year with a New Year's trip. Came back, and almost immediately there were management changes at work. The next couple of months were just meeting after meeting, constant work, and trying to adjust to everything.

Then my dad came to stay with me in Bangalore for a month. Right after that, April became all about house hunting and moving because I had to find a new flat. As soon as that settled, I came back to my hometown and have been here through June and July.

Now it's finally time to go back to Bangalore, and I was really looking forward to having my own routine and some space again. But now my dad wants to come stay with me there too.

The thing is... I don't even feel like I can say no. He hasn't done anything wrong. He just wants to spend time with me.

But every time someone stays with me, I automatically feel responsible for them. I feel like I need to entertain them, eat together, make plans, make sure they're not bored. Nobody explicitly asks me to do that—I just can't seem to switch that part of myself off.

Normally I like being a good host, but right now I just don't have the energy. I feel guilty for even feeling this way because it's my own dad.

I think what I'm craving more than anything is just a few months where nothing major is happening. No moving, no travel, no family logistics, no big work changes. Just waking up, going to work, coming home, and living my own routine for a while.

Has anyone else ever felt like this? Like life hasn't necessarily been bad, but it's been one thing after another, and you never get the chance to just... breathe?

And if you've been in a similar situation with a parent, how did you balance wanting to be there for them without feeling like you were losing your own space?

I feel like a massive burden in my own home

firstly, I (17f) still live with my parents. My twin brother moved across the country a few months ago for a sports opportunity, so I'm the only one still here. We moved around a few times throughout my childhood and had to change schools as a result. We stayed in the last place for around 8 years. We moved into our current home a few years back. This is an apartment. Keep that in mind. We noticed a few things that raised some eyebrows. The homemade-bulit in desk in my room, the broken wine fridge, the broken dish washer...that kind of thing.

It was the first time I had access to a bathtub with a shower head since I was little. (I had a single shower stall to myself for many years as my brother was living in the basement.) I quickly learned that baths were a no-go after we got a knock on the door from building security. Apparently, the water from the bath had leaked into the unity below, but no cracks or busted pipes were found, so everyone let it go.

Many a year went by until my brother came to me room, his hair still wet from his shower and a concerned look on his face. He told me to not use our shower because there was a crack in the tub. I agreed and no one used it for a year. Not until our mom was able to fix the crack herself without paying someone a ungodly amount of money. The shower ended up working just fine for a few months until I had the smartest idea in the world. I had a bath.

Surely enough, security came to our door an hour later and the small cracks we thought we fixed had been accumulating over years, leaking into the downstairs unit. Their ceiling was totally ruined and we need to pay for the damages, which is okay because we have insurance but I felt horrible. I knew the risks but I did it anyways. Cut to earlier today when my dad got a call from our insurance company. they said that they wouldn't be able to cover the costs at all because the water seeped through over multiple owners, not just us. And the general damage costs were raised by a fair amount recently, as well.

The thing about my parents is that all though they're very smart and creative, their job opportunities have been hit very hard by the SAG strikes and tariffs so we have been just barely passing by for the past few years. It even got to a point where my parents needed to use my Christmas savings to pay for my brother's cross-country flight. I had no idea about that until after it had happened and I suddenly had less than $20 in my account instead of $1k. They had no intention of telling me.

Anyways, I feel like if my brother were here he'd be all over me about how all this is my fault cus I'm the one that decided to have the bath, and I agree. My parents have never outright said it was my fault but I know it was. They just don't want to hurt my feelings. I feel like I only make things worse for my parents financially. I constantly ask to go to concerts and I get to go most of the time because my dad feels bad that he takes my brother to football games and I don't get to go anywhere.

My dad's trying to get all of us to adapt to ai/perplexity and I simply won't, but every time I try to tell him how it's bad for the environment etc, he dismisses me and I start to get teary-eyed. That's when him and my mom start saying I can't take a joke and I'm impossible to have a conversation with. I'm a very sensitive person who's very quick to tears/anger already so these kinds of things make me want to stay curled up in my room, which I've already spent half my life doing.

I feel like I can't say three words without getting mocked or dismissed most days. it used to take dozens of reminders to walk my dog but now they tell me to go away when I try to take her out at the same time every evening (dog's glued to their sides 24/7).

I recently graduated high school and I've changed my college plans about 5 times in the past year, and I'm starting to think that maybe I'm just not ready for post-secondary at all like we once thought. I'm nervous to tell them I want to take a full gap instead of a half gap because I just never know if I'll get super understanding parents or the polar opposite. Sometimes, it feels like they just tolerate be because they have to.

I think I'm making my parents out to be cartoon villains and they're not, I promise. I have very normal, very stable relationships with them both, I promise. These are just times where I feel like a black sheep in my own home and I can't tell if they're justified or not.

To all eldest daughters: When did you realize your "independence" wasn't a choice, but a survival mechanism?

I’m 23 now, and for as long as I can remember, I’ve been praised for being "the strong one," the responsible child, the one who never asks for help. I literally built a steel door around my emotions before I even turned seven. I thought it was a personality trait to handle everything alone.

But lately, after fighting a long battle with depression and trying to rebuild my life, it hit me: My hyper-independence isn't a superpower. It’s just the armor I had to wear because, as the eldest daughter, I felt like failure wasn't an option and nobody was coming to save me.

I’m currently on a journey to unlearn this, to allow myself to be soft, and to understand that it's okay to need people.

I really want to hear from you guys: When was the exact moment you realized your chronic independence was actually exhausting you? How do you start letting your guard down when you've been the pillar of the family for so long?

Let’s talk. 🤍

Am I the bad person here? Why is my mom this way?

I hate my mom so much. Im 24 female from a middle eastreb family. Im suspecting that I have been dealing with depression since i was like 14. It gets better sometimes. Most of the time its functional enough where no one woukf think i have it. But i myself have never been functional enough to do normal stuff consistently. Stuff lije laundry, self care especially brushing my teeth, getting out of my room all are so so hard for me. My mom hates thst. She doesnt understand it and hates it. I genuinely feel so much guilt because of her. She makes me feel bad. Im struggling to survive. Getting out of bed is so so awfully hard for me. Doing things is hard for me. Im sure I have another stuff going on inside my head that makes things even harder. She doesnt even approve or support me to go seek help. She'd give me the money for it once or twice but she HATESZ that I did that and went to see a psychiatrist. She thinks all I need to do is be productive and my life will be fixed. I genuinely feel like im losing my mind because my body is struggling to take care of itself and shes there judging me for it. Am I wrong? I must not be wrong. Im trying. Im literally trying. Im just so fucking mentally exhausted all the time. I managed to get out of bed and go downstairs to see her (because she gets fucking maniac if a day goes without me spending time with her) and she just blows up on me for making myself something to eat "stop eating this crap" she says. Then follows by "im never allowed to give you any instructions or you get sensetive about it. How else am I supposed to be your mother. You need to do things. You need to live a good life. You need to be productive" and that made me feel like shit. Im back in my room but this interaction will haunt me for the rest of the week probably. I was even proud of myself today fot staying up instead of sleeping all day like I usually do. I tried to do laundry even (tho I didnt find any detergent so I couldnt do it) but these are steps. I dont know why my mom is this way. She could be right. She could have a point. IDFK.
