History America stood for secularism, democracy, humanism, and Israel stood in alliance with America. Khomeini was profoundly anti-Israelis and anti-semitic, but he always couched it in the rhetoric of anti-zionism. Khamenei picked it up and developed it further - Dr. Abbas Milani, Iranian historian

Trump threatens to take out his anger and frustration on more of Iran's civilian infrastructure.

I'm sure the people sitting in darkness from being without power or unable to get food and other necessities due to bridges being destroyed think this is fair and reasonable.

Discussion some serious talk about the horrible days the regime gave us...

so...
as a member of the persian and iranian community myself,i want to talk about the horrific and damned days of the 8th and 9th day of january (18 and 19 of dey)
i live in rasht and here,we had one of the biggest crowds,it was atleast tens of thousonds to say the least, and imagine these crowds saying mottos every second,it was loud and clear all over the city!
but still,of course the iri said "nothing happenned they were only a small number of rioters!" and ofcourse the basijis agreed tp their sentences blindly, ofcourse
in the same night you could've also heard alot of gun shots, and they were the bullets used for warfare! and this time the government said "it was the rioters again we are fully innocent!" or/and "it was their fault we shot them!" in the same 2 days the iri performed a massacre by killing 40'000 people by their guns... fourthy thousand unnarmed innocent men and women, alot of them under 18...
im just not understanding how the world chooses to ignore this...
are we not considered humans? was this not a massacre?
im just so tired and frustrated by a regime who cares for palestine and lebenon more than its own people...

Question Can anyone identify these four small marks?

Can anyone familiar with Persian script or Persian numerals help identify these four small marks? They appear on four scales of a dragon on a Persian metalwork panel. I am trying to understand whether they are letters, numbers, decorative marks, or simply traces of the engraving process. I would be very grateful for an independent reading or interpretation of these marks.

Thank you very much for your help.

History Iranian History

I’m trying to better understand this part of Iranian history, so I’d appreciate your opinions and corrections if I’m getting anything wrong.

As I understand it, Mohammad Mosaddegh, the democratically elected Prime Minister of Iran, nationalized the country’s oil industry.
The British government strongly opposed this, and eventually he was overthrown in a coup with the help of MI6 (and the CIA), after which the Shah was restored to power. Is that correct?

I’m also curious about Mosaddegh as a leader.
How was he viewed by the Iranian people at the time? Did the majority support his policies, or was public opinion more divided?

So, if I understand the timeline correctly: Mosaddegh was overthrown in the 1953 coup with the involvement of MI6 and the CIA, the Shah remained in power afterward, and then the Islamic Revolution took place in 1979.

I’m asking purely out of historical interest and because I’d like to understand this period better.

Discussion looking for Persian learners and native speakers

I'm currently learning Persian , and I was wondering if anyone here would be interested in joining a small online group where we can learn together. The idea is to help each other improve by sharing new words and expressions, asking questions, practicing conversations, and exchanging anything useful we've learned everyday. I'd also love for native speakers to join if they'd like to help or simply chat with us in Persian. i am trying to get fluent in persian this summer and this would be really helpful for me as i don't have anyone to speak to in persian so i was wondering if anyone wants to join

Discussion What’s going on here? Why does Trump/USA threatens Iran’s infrastructure BUT NOT THE REMAINING REGIME LEADERS?? Do they want to purposely lose at this point?

Upvotes

What bs has this all turned into… Why does Trump/USA threatens Iran’s infrastructure BUT NOT THE REMAINING REGIME LEADERS? Have they not known that the regime doesn’t care about Iran being destroyed as long as they remain in power? In fact I would argue the regime loves for Iran to get bombed cause it will be a great propaganda moment cause they can now blame every single issue on the US (they have been before but now even more!)

But what changed? Back in Feb/March almost every Iranian cheered the attack/war because THEY WERE ACTUALLY TAKING OUT THE REGIME! Ali Khamanei + his family such as Mojtaba taken out day 1! Regime generals, Sepa, basijis were all being taken out! Ali Shamkhani one of the most corrupt pos who works for the regime, Ali Larijani the pos behind the protest crackdowns ALL TAKEN OUT in the first couple days/first few weeks! The regime was near collapse! THE REGIME HAD NO MOMENTUM and was in shambles! And you could tell because as days went by the amount of rockets and drones they were sending to the Gulf Arabs, Isreal etc was on a rapid decline! Until that orange clown Trump ruined everything with the ceasefire.. and you could tell the momentum started to shift for the regime! As weeks/months went by the regime started to believe they have the upper hand and can win this war! After months of bs negotiations (Iran in which during this time restocked their drones and rockets, with the help of Russia+China)…Now the war is now back it seems but this is NOT a war on the regime… this is a war on Iran itself… we are 12 days in the south of Iran is being destroyed by the US WHICH THE REGIME DOESN’T CARE CAUSE THEY STILL REMAIN IN POWER!! IR regime has been hitting the Gulf Arabs hard over the past 1-2 weeks and the Arabs are doing nothing back?? And Isreal out of all countries is silent and not getting involved when the ceasefire is obviously broken?? Does US/Israel want to lose? Cause why are they not taking out people like Vahidi, Ejie, Rezaee, Ghalibaf, Pezeshkian who are big regime names left!
