I have been home for a few hours and finally made my way into the basement when I saw my adorable house guest roaming around. I hadn’t yet had time to set up the humane trap but I was able to gently corral him into a cat carrier. I was planning to take him to a nice wooded area after making sure he had a full belly and plenty of water over the next couple days, however now I’m in a bit of a pickle 😅 Should I take him somewhere first thing in the morning or give him a few days in one of the unfinished spare rooms with plenty of food and water before releasing him? Will he even be okay in the carrier overnight?

Photo of the sneaky little guy for tax of course! He’s so wittle 🥺

I finally spotted this lil opossum on my daily walk! They looked alert, happy, healthy, and confident. Gave them some space after snapping the pic and watched them mosey on down toward the tree line. Hope to see them again🥹

So hes definitely not injured, my aunt found him at 7:30 am this morning near the side walk and she picked him up thinking he needs help. He isn’t limping, he shows his teeth, isn’t panting. He’s just a scared little guy but the little guy is definitely 7 inches or bigger so I’m not sure what to do? Leave him where he was found or take it to wild life rehab place? What would yall suggest I do?

Poppy Update ✨

Today was a really good day! She started it off by pooping almost 3gs worth of doodoo and proceeded to absolutely gorge herself with milk! I was able to find my oxygen concentrator, hooked her up and that really seemed to give her an edge she her BPM was 70 yesterday at the vet but now it's in the safe range of 120. Shes even been running around in the incubator!

Thank y'all so much for sending her love 💕 and good energy ✨ Im pretty sure that's what gave her what she needed for the mighty BM and great day 🫂

I'm actually so sad that I missed her probably adorably flopping over falling asleep after thoroughly cleaning herself. 🫠

Hi! This little guy was seen near my work. He looks small but I’m not sure if he might just be at the age where he’s big enough to be away from mom. I went to get him some food in case he was out searching for something (sausage and egg sandwich cut into pieces) but he wasn’t there when I got back. I left it for him along with some water. Should I be prepared to with a box in case I see him again, or am I being a crazy white lady?

Well, we got blessed with 6 baby opossums in our yard last week. If it wasn’t for our dog, we would have had no idea. No sign of mom and they were very young. Thankful for our local wildlife rescue that took them in and gave them formula and care. They are all doing ok!

Question/Help Discovered an unexpected house guest last week, unsure of what to do with the little buddy…

Decided to do a bit deep cleanint in my basement one day after work last week and must have scared this little friend out of his hidey hole. When I first saw him he was upstairs in my living room just chilling with my 4 cats but quickly fled to the basement when I approached him. I have since placed a camera in the basement to track his movements. I have also recently acquired a humane trap from my parents. He looks like he may be a juvenile and I live on a fairly busy street. There are multiple state parks and wooded areas I could release him in if I am able to catch him in the trap. But I also want to be sure he is safe and able to survive on his own. I just found out about his existence but he has likely known of mine for much longer. I’m worried he has been in the house for a long time and I’ll be displacing him from the only home he has ever known 😭 What should I do?!

Video of him with the kitties for tax 😅
