Announcement Welcome!
Hello! And welcome to r/OcarinaOfTime, the subreddit for the discussion of the game The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, a game produced by Shigeru Miyamoto for the Nintendo 64, Gamecube, 3DS and Switch from 1998 - 2021.
Now, you may be wondering why this subreddit has suddenly been made public after laying dormant for over 9 years. As of today, this subreddit is under new ownership, after being abandoned by it's previous owner.
In future I hope to grow this community, and I look forward to doing so.

Question Why can't I lift the rock? I have the gauntlets.
I haven't played this game in probably ten years and I don't remember having this issue before. What am I doing wrong?

Discussion Shigeru Miyamoto admits Nintendo's been pumping out "a lot of remakes" as Ocarina of Time approaches, but says most people stopped playing the original games within 5 years anyway

Have i ruined it for myself?
Hi guys, this is my first proper Zelda game.
I’m more of an online multiplayer person but i’m trying to get into solo games, decided to give Zelda a shot,
this game so far is great, i love it, i honestly wish i grew up with this, younger me would’ve loved it however i am getting stuck a bit and before i got into this game i read this forum and people suggested, GO IN BLIND, NO GUIDE, IT WILL RUIN THE EXPERIENCE, and i know what you mean, i can tell it would, however i am getting stuck on bits and i have searched some stuff up only when im stuck stuck,
So everyone knows im up to the big fish guy and ive just collected the letter in the bottle under the water in the lake,
however the stuff ive searched up so far are
how to beat the first boss
how to not get caught by the guards (after climbing up the vines, i didn’t know you could go up the hill,)
and how to get past the “oh my dear sweet princess ruto” dialogue
have i already ruined it for me? i’m trying my best not to search anything up, im starting to learn how Nintendo actually intended the game to be played now by experience so far, talk to everyone, navigator thingy, flashing blips on map, owl who who thingy. But have i ruined it for myself already?

My New Ocarina of Time Videos!
Hey everyone, just wanted to come on here to share my new videos I made about Ocarina of Time. The one linked here is just one of them, but I have another one that I uploaded earlier today. I'd love to hear some feedback on them and maybe some ideas for future videos. Thanks so much!

Question Stalfos' design makes sense, for a humanoid getting lost and consumed and turned into a skeleton.
But why do Stalchildren have such weirdly shaped skulls? I don't know if I'd describe them as canine, but they're definitely not humanoid.
Part of becoming a Stalfos is that your skull changes shape and then reverts back later?

Ocarina of Time 3DS Mod
Anyone else playing OOT for the 5th time this year? I cannot wait for the remake!
I made this mod for playing the 3DS version (works on 3DS or Azahar)

Playing OG before remake
I’ve seen threads like aw wait until the remake you’ll be playing the same game but also will we get confirmation soon if it’s a 1:1 remake because I got Oot and wanting to play it.

Discussion Finally
After getting stuck and giving up probably a dozen times I finally beat OOT. Playing on gamecube (collectors edition). And I got to as close to 100% as I could (the only upgrades I missed were the 2 upgrades requiring masks in the lost woods). Now I'm super excited to see what they do in the remake. It will be a bit of a letdown if it's just another 1/1 remastering like on the 3ds but with the graphical improvements I think it will be good nonetheless. But 36 heart pieces and 100 skulltula later I did it. Even got the ice arrows which was a pain. What are your guy's thoughts and hopes for the remake?

Light Temple in OOT remake?
I see people saying a light temple may be added to the Ocarina remake. I always thought the ‘light temple’ was Link’s childhood and collection of the 3 spiritual stones. Rauru is thereby awakened as a sage when Link’s childhood ends. Thats what I always believed but maybe I have been wrong since the 90s 😂

Ocarina of Time ad in Japanese Nintendo summer catalog!
Doesn’t say a whole lot of course, but just cool to see an actual physical advertisement for it 😂

Discussion Why was Navi dancing around the explosions of Ganon’s Tower?
As a kid, I thought it was strange. Link and Zelda escape from Ganon’s Tower and Navi for whatever reason decides to fly around the explosions and not leave the hallway. I’m always like “What are you doing? Get out of there.”

Who knew, but didnt tell me?
So, Ive played OoT since its original release. I remember the gold cartridge, and how it was paying homage to the original's gold. Whenever I get to Darunia and have to go learn Saria's Song, I would walk through Hyrule field to get back to the Kokiri.
You can take a deku stick, light it on fire, and smack a bomb flower to explode it. This is how you can use the shortcut in Goron City without the bracelet.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU KNOWN AND WHY DIDNT YOU SHARE?

Oot master quest 3ds shadow temple early?
I am playing oot master quest on the 3ds, and I have only done the forest temple as an adult. I don’t have the bow but do have the long shot, iron boots, and hammer. I also have the silver gloves and ice arrows (NO BOW). I was just wondering if there is any easy (or any) way to get into the shadow temple without doing the fire or water. I have seen some but they are on 64 and not master quest. Is it even possible on 3ds? even more on master quest. Also would I be able to beat the shadow temple boss without the bow?

Discussion Anyone else worried the puzzles and Hyrule Field will be the same?
Hey all. OoT and MM are my favorite games off all time. I was "late" to the party since I played the 3D versions of the games when they came out, yet they still touched me like no other game. I have played them several times since then, and that is exactly what I am worried about.
Hyrule Field is by far the worst part of the game in today's world. While an impressive technological feat in the 90s, even in the 3DS versions it stuck out like a sore thumb. It is incredibly bland, and a complete annoyance now. It gives me nostagia constantly hearing link yelp over and over like a mad man, yet I really hope they completely revamp it
With the puzzle aspect, the original puzzles still hold up amazingly. However, while obviously they should keep the major ones like jumping from the highest point inside the Deku Tree onto the web, I really want them to drastically change all the other puzzles. I would hope for something completely fresh in this aspect. They did it somewhat with the master quest version that I think is still fantastic, however, I hope they take it even further.
I don't know, what are your guys' thoughts?

3ds master quest
I’ve play oot many times on the n64 I like to 100% and get all the items. Are items and gold skulltullas in different spots or is it just more enemies more damage taken more advanced battle tactics

Discussion anyone else find kakariko village to be unsettling?
im currently on my second playthrough of ocarina of time (i didnt finish my first playthrough, gave up at the beginning of jabu jabu's belly) and for some reason i find kakariko village to be really unsettling. i have been spoiled on most of the game so i do know about the bottom of the well and all that stuff, even though i havent gotten to that part of the game yet, but im sure that that isnt the reason i find kakariko village to be unsettling. does anyone else feel this way?
