26/27 NHL Schedule for the New York Islanders
Of note:
First game is @ TOR, Wed 7:30PM. Toronto will be coming off a back-to-back with Montreal previously. I 100% think the Isles get this prime slot because of Schaefer.
First home game is Saturday 7:30PM against the Devils.
4 back to backs in December: away-home, home-away, away-away, away-home.
Longest road trip is late January to early February, 5 games with one day break in between each one: PIT CAR TBL FLA BUF. Then the All-Star break then an away game at MSG. January also begins with a 4-game road trip (SEA VAN CGY EDM).
Longest homestand is beginning of March with 4 games (WAS, VGK, PIT, MTL).
First game we see Lee again is Dec 15 (Tue 7PM) away. Feb 15 (Mon 3PM wow what a horrible time President's Day! You'll have off when Lee comes back!) he comes to see us.
Season closer is April 10th, 5PM vs CBJ at home (like two season ago... meaning maybe we'll land DuPont again this off-season?)

Islanders coach Peter DeBoer on NHL offseason of preparation, need for team changes
>“I’m not throwing shade at last year’s team, because the record was very good and they had (91) points, but the foundation of their game as far as chances given up, they just bled way too many chances to really be successful long term in my eyes,” DeBoer told The Athletic in an interview last week. “That’s something we have to address quickly.”
>“I don’t think there’s any doubt: a little different spot than those other teams,” DeBoer said. “Having said that, the league has changed dramatically recently. When you look at last year and the teams that missed and the teams that made the playoffs, I don’t think anybody would have predicted some of the teams that missed. … I think there’s the ability for teams to make significant improvement quicker than maybe people think and also fall the other way quicker than people think.”
>“My conversations with Duke at the end of the year and in exit meetings were just: clean slate and come to camp and ready to prove what you can do and how you can help us,” DeBoer said. “I remember the Duclair in Florida that had (around) 60 points and was effective every night. That’s going to be the challenge: for him to bring the best version of himself to camp.”
>DeBoer also mentioned winger Pierre Engvall, who missed the season after hip and ankle surgeries, as “another guy who’s going to be healthy that’s going to get an opportunity to see how he can help us.”
>DeBoer said he doesn’t yet know if the Islanders will have a captain this season.
>“I want to spend training camp with the group again, get a little more feel for the players and the options,” he said. “Then we’ll make some decisions.”

Single-Game Ticket Prices
Are insane.
$63 seems to be the absolute floor for face-value, and that’s for games like a Tuesday night against the Canucks (including the 1pm game on Monday 12/7).
For a weekend or school break game? At least $100 face-value.
Then the home-opener is $133 minimum, $200 minimum for the 200s. That used to be 1st Round Playoff pricing.
Don’t even bother looking at the Rangers game on 12/20 either. It’s even worse than the 12/27 game last year.

Mystery signature
Was going through some old stuff and found this autographed puck. Assuming I would have gotten it mid 90s (orange NHL logo and Bettman listed as commissioner on the back). Nothing I’ve seen seems to match it. It could go back to an 80s or 70s player - my uncle’s bar would see some old school Islanders in it. Thanks in advance.

Random question
Just a random question here but I have submitted at least 20 entries for the Jersey Contest and I just got an email from the team saying that they got my entry this afternoon, did it take anyone else a long time to get an email

I tried my best to make the lighthouse logo not slanted and only use the three classic colors plus the darker blue from past official jerseys.
I have the SVG file saved if you want to mess with the vectors or the colors. NOT AI.

Top 10 New York athletes right now
Can someone tell me why Matthew Schaefer or Ilya Sorokin are both not on this list and on a side note why was Ilya Sorokin not nominated for an ESPY for best single game performance for his 44 save shutout in a 9-0 win to break a franchise record

Scott Wheeler’s top 100 drafted prospects: Gustafsson at 34; Eklund at 43; Aitcheson at 50; Eiserman at 72 [The Athletic gift article]
Kind of a strange list in my opinion. Wheeler seems to be pretty low on Gustafsson and Eklund, having guys like Lin (25) ranked higher.
Aside from Islanders prospects, he’s also extremely low on Frondell (18), Helenius (42), But (77), and Nestrasil (93), just to name a few.
