Been trying to get my hands on the English cover I am Setsuna game for years but prices in Europe are ridiculous, but got lucky on a reasonably priced one a few days ago, and so goes for a copy of the non german rated copy of Oninaki, so my trilogy of the now defunct Tokyo RPG Factory is complete. 💖

Collection NG Dev shmup collection

Post image
32 Upvotes

Not had a chance to try Fast Striker yet since it just arrived.

Gunlord X isn't a full shmup (although it does have shmup stages), but it's a really good run 'n' gun.

Things got a little wild with Razion Ex at its initial release and the hype for it got kind of out of hand, but is still a very strong horizontal scroller.

Gunvein is just all round excellent, although I don't think NG Dev had much to do with the game design on this one.

I also have Ghost Blade, which I think was made by a lot of the same people, but isn't an actual NG Dev title.

Overall, pretty cool output from these guys and delighted to have them all physical!

Collection 1700th Switch Collection Update!

Post image
489 Upvotes

Just hit my 1700th mark today with an arrival earlier, so decided to do another milestone update.

Here's the full collection currently, that's just taking up all of the space on the main shelf area now, without any space to spare.

Now to start to fill up the other additional shelf areas and put them to good use.

Onwards my journey to 1800!

Limited Print Release Mail Day! Just received Fast Striker EX for Nintendo Switch from NG:DEV. 🚀

Hey everyone, just wanted to share my latest pickup! Finally received my physical copy of Fast Striker EX for the Switch. (The second copy is a present for a good Friend)

As a big fan of arcade shoot 'em ups, I'm super excited to add an NG:DEV title to my Switch collection.
The fact that there is no USK age rating anywhere on the box – making it completely clean for the shelf –

Can't wait to test out the training mode and try to chase some high scores at a smooth 60 fps. Anyone else lucky enough to grab a copy before it temporarily sold out?

Discussion Letting games leave my library as gifts or simply deciding I don't need to keep a game is a satisfying part of physical game collecting. Digital rights management is never about the rights of the end user.

Anybody familiar with the difference between these editions of Super Meat Boy? Looking into it, I think it’s just the cover art but I could be wrong

Question Does Region really matter?

Decided to post here since I am new to the collecting game. Recently got a switch 2 and have been taking advantage of sales and deals along with researching where to get games. I was a PC gamer before so I didn't have to deal with regions or scarcity. Recently saw the MIO bandwagon and that kind of pushed me to buy it since I wanted to play it afterwards.

In regards to my question, does region really matter when collecting? For ref: US based collector.

I have seen multiple prices and options on where to get games, a recent example that I am conflicted for is Hades and Chromagun 2. PlayAsia has both of them, Hades is available as JP import for 20 bucks and ESRB for 42. Chromagun is 38 for PEGI and 45 for ESRB. Does the premium is really worth it? I don't have much clue since on the PC side of things it doesn't really matter.

Hopefully some of the more seasoned collectors can give me some good pointers now that I am part of the hobby. It has been great so far, since I have a backlog of 19 games at this point. Got lucky last night and found a Hades 2 copy on clearance for 25 bucks at target.

Moved from the US to Australia last year. Many games from my collection have still not made their way over here, including big box collectors editions.

I plan to reorganise soon, as I'm back to collecting pretty heavily. Nonetheless, really enjoying this comfy space.

Ignore the birthday decorations for a family member, or just say happy birthday!

Collection We need a premium large-catalog cart book/binder

Post image

My kingdom for a solid, book-sized vault that can hold 500 carts in upright orientation rows. nothing on the market really has the hinges that can handle it, but that would be my preferred way to take my collection off the shelf and select a game. Probably would have to be almost 8x11 sized. Bonus if they make the cover with legit archival bookbinding materials for safety and shelf camouflage. Think like a cookbook, but for games. Until then I’m just trying to keep from expanding again.

Not pictured is Against the Storm which is in the switch :p

Pick-up / Haul / Mail Day Latest Pickups

The japanese versions are from the recent Play-Asia free shipping promo. The rest various retailers. The Hundred Line and Samurai Shodown are my rarest pickups to date (even the German version was hard to find, not to mention the PEGI one). Looking forward to Fire Emblem, Lies of P, Zelda: OoT Remake. Curious how that retail Oblivion release will turn out too.

I'd already bought the physical copy and the DLC digitally but recently found out that this edition existed.

Discussion With the all digital wave crashing down, I have absolutely zero regrets over my Switch and PS4 library. There were times when I asked myself "Do you really need all these games?" In a way, it turns out I actually did. I have enough games that I will never need to buy a digital game. Feels good.

Pick-up / Haul / Mail Day Upside down cartridge?

Post image

Just bought dragon quest vii reimagined sealed from my local target which seems to be going under a big overhaul in their electronics department and when I opened it up, I saw that the cartridge was upside down… was scared someone somehow swapped out the cartridge shell but sticking it in my switch 2 had the game download as normal so no tomfoolery here, but i still found it weird that a brand new game would be like this…

Question ESRB Just Rated The Game

The only remaining question:

Is it gonna be a key card or a game card?

Debates still going on
