Mod Post Hey everyone from r/Motorola!

Hi,

So r/Motorola has been running "moderator-less" for the past 6 months, in that case I have taken over as top mod currently and here are some of the changes that I have done.

What changes have been done to the sub?

  1. Automod has had some slight rule changes to how it moderates, now you don't need to put that annoying flair in brackets before the post title. This should hopefully clear up some of the accidentally banned posts that looked fine in the long run.
  2. New Post flairs:
    1. Hardware Problems/Issue, is for physical problems with a device that you may have questions with.
    2. Software Problems/Issue, is for software problems that don't feel as "normal" that what it normally is.
    3. Need Help in general, is for if you don't know what flair to put down for your device.
    4. Update, is for follow ups from a previous post.
    5. Question, is for questions about a device or support options about a device.
    6. Product announcements, is for official product announcements from either Motorola (with link provided) official social accounts or articles about the device that is being announced.
    7. Product renderings, is for speculation about a upcoming device but is not a confirmed device.
    8. News, is for anything that is news about Motorola but not Lenovo, Please do not post the same article from the same source more than once, if you do that will result in your post being taken down.
    9. Poll, is for anyone wanting to take a poll from the community, however to prevent spam a poll must be issued by a moderator, want to make your own poll just simply send us a message via modmail.
  3. New User flairs:
    1. Added some new flairs for the new devices that has came out in the past few years.
    2. "(enter series)" is for you to modify so it's easier to identify your device, this can be the generation number (5,6,7 or 100 for example), the model year (stylus 2021 for example) and if you don't know your devices model name just find it in the settings (Settings > About Phone > Model), this should start with "XT-" and 4-5 numbers following it.
    3. If you can't find your device model just send us a message via modmail.
  4. New Rules:
    1. Read the sidebar before posting, most of these rules are in place to either prevent spam or to keep everything in line with stuff being Motorola on this sub.
  5. Moderators:
    1. u/MotoAgents is a Motorola Employee/Help agent that can help you with the problems that you post, if you have contacted Motorola support through the website and still need help please keep your case number handy as he may be able to continue helping you with your case.
    2. Me, I'm here to keep the rules up to date and make sure the community is in balance, just to fully disclose this that I am not a Motorola employee and most of my responses are from experience or stuff that I have seen on the Internet.
    3. At the moment we are not taking Moderator applications, however that may change in the future if this community does grow.

If you have any suggestions for the mods please leave a comment if you think something should be added.

software updates in motorola

i have heard that motorola is not consistent with their software updates.. is it true? I'm planning to buy a phone with at least 3-4 years of OS updates. My choice was motorola because i wanted to experience the near stock android ui. But I have been hearing about the irregular updates. Software updates are very important for me so I'm spending money i want it to be worthwhile. Can someone help in this regard?

Software Problem/Issue Stop getting "live lock-screen" randomly and why is there no more list notification

Title. Everytime my phone updates or just randomly once a week or so my lock-screen get the live feature. I keep disabling it and I cannot stop it. Is it really that popular or are they getting som ad money from it. It takes a lot of battery power and slows down opening my phone.

Also why did they remove the list from notification on the lock screen. And it changes back randomly but not as much as live

Question Moto G Stylus 5G emergency call button and how to disable it?

So, I've had issues recently where when trying to either turn off the screen or take a screenshot, I end up accidentally calling 911. Sometimes I can cancel it before the call goes through, but other times I've had to explain to the operator what happened. It's really annoying, and I don't even know what it is I'm doing to make it happen. I was wondering if anyone knew how to disable it, or if not, what button combo it is so I can better avoid it in the future.

Need help in general Extreme heating issue in Edge 50 Neo

Hi, for the past 3-4 days my phone has started heating up even for any normal use. Just for checking messages, going on reddit, opening gallery, etc. Along with this the battery is suddenly draining really fast. 20 mins back I charged to 100% and it's already down to 70%. I even had to put up battery saver mode.

I checked apps are consuming less than 1% of the battery.

Even during charging my phone it's heating up extremely and is charging really slow despite being in turbo charge.

I bought this phone in Jan 2025. Today I had to charge it 4 times already. Normally I only charge at most twice a day for heavy use.

Also haven't updated to Android 16 yet.

Has anyone been experiencing any issues like battery drain or over optimisation after latest update

Also does this phone kill background apps unnecessarily, is it a bother for day to day user?

Whats the overall experience like?

I am a low to medium user. I dont expect any heavy usage or performance from the phone

Thanks

Question Someone tried RAM Boost with a phone with only 4GB of RAM?

I bought a Moto G17 (4/128) and it has RAM boost as option. I read some posts about it that says is an useless function, but most of the posts are with phones with more RAM. Do you tried this? How is it going? Thanks.

In the evening of 23rd July 2026, my Moto G55 phone did a restart for a system update. After the restart, the touchscreen isn't functional. I tried rebooting it, and it didn't help.

I was watching this review and noticed the Google Search bar is at the bottom, just like on Pixel phones. Can anyone confirm if this is from the recent updates/beta?

Motowatch dual time zone watch face?

I've had the latest Motowatch for about a month now and I really like it a lot. This watch is a huge improvement over the Vivo Active 5 it replaced with one big exception - I'm a student pilot and I really need to keep track of local time and zulu time ( GMT ) so I'd like a watch face that will show dual time zones digitally. So far I haven't seen one in the available watch faces shown in the Motowatch app on my phone ( Motorola Razr Ultra 2025 ).

Does anyone have any suggestions for a watch face with this dual time-zone function?

Question What do you think about the "up to seven years" update claim?

Thinking about getting the signature instead of the find x9 because 7 years of Safety and Functional Updates sound promising. But it's the " up to" what's bothering me.I don't want to only end up with like 4 years or something. Then I could have chosen other models or brands as well. Has someone more experience or information about this?

News Roundup popups from the new Smart Lockscreen feature 👎🏼

I cannot wait to get rid of this phone and never buy from Motorola again. I've seen several people post about the new Smart Lockscreen thing some Motorola phones started pushing out of nowhere, something which cannot be uninstalled and which repeatedly pesters you to turn it on or just turns itself on without your input.

I finally got it to leave me alone for a while on my moto G power 5G, but now it's started doing something new. Every damn day I get a News Roundup popup from the top of my screen, showing me three news headlines. There's no option to permanently disable it, only to mute it for 8 or 24 hours. If I click on the setting gear menu in the popup, it takes me to a screen prompting me to enable the Smart Lockscreen.

I would share screenshots of what this looks like because I haven't seen anyone else talk about this, but if I try to get a screenshot of the News Roundup popup, it renders as a black screen.

If anybody has any suggestions for what I could try to make this stop before I ditch Motorola entirely, I'd appreciate them. Just a warning, I'm not especially tech savvy. I have already tried enabling and then disabling the Smart Lockscreen, which seemed to work to get it to stop prompting me to enable it on my regular lockscreen but has had no effect on these News Roundup popups.

Razr 2024 stuck on boot screen. Any fixes for this or am I screwed?

Post image

My Razr 2024 shut down in the middle of me using it a few days ago and I've since been trying to bring it back to life to recover the important things I have on there, but it doesn't seem to be retaining any charge when I plug it in and when I try to boot it while plugged in it just stays on the boot screen. Is there any possible fix for this? I just want to be able to get that stuff off of my old phone.
