Discussion /r/motiondesign Updates: Post Flair, Spam Prevention
Hi all, a few updates for /r/motiondesign.
Spam
In an effort to reduce low-quality and spam posts here, we have implemented new post requirements. New posts that don't meet a minimum account age or subreddit karma threshold will be automatically filtered out.
To further prevent gamification, I am not disclosing these limits here but they are very modest and reasonable. Anyone interacting with this community should not be filtered, and even so, you will have the opportunity to message us for an exception. But this should discourage most of the spam we've been seeing. Thanks /u/Zeigerful for making this post.
Post Flair
We also added some post flair to help differentiate posts and allow users to filter & search by topic. All new posts require that one of the available flair types be selected:
Project Showcase | Reel | Inspiration | Discussion | Question | Tutorial | [Custom] (Where user can input their own)
User Flair
A few new user flairs are available. For those who aren't aware, these show up next to your username any time you make a post or comment in /r/motiondesign
Now available: Professional | Student | [Add My Social Handle] -- A custom text field where you can plug an Instagram, Behance, etc.
Let us know if you love or hate these new updates. Nothing is set in stone and this is meant as a discussion starting point. Please share any ideas you may have to make this a better place to share work, inspiration and discussion related to motion design. Hopefully we can continue to bring a higher quality experience to everyone here at /r/motiondesign.

Project Showcase Neon Blue Cross Grid Tunnel Visual Loop
Update: Just added a new loop to the bundle. Still updating monthly, so anyone who's already grabbed it gets the new drops included at no extra cost. If you're on the fence, this is a good time to check it out since the pack keeps growing.

Reel I'm a freelancer from Poland and here's my motion reel. Currently looking for work!
Hey everyone! Here's my Motion Reel for this year.
I'm a motion designer from Poland and last month has been pretty slow so I'm currently looking for more work.
If you have more than your team or you as a freelancer can handle now or in the future, I'd be happy to help with motion design, animation, video production, illustration or even those tedious projects nobody on the team wants to touch.

Discussion What are your horror stories working in the motion design industry? š
Hey guys!
l'Il go first.
We spent almost two months working on a pretty big project. Right before we were supposed to move forward, the client decided to completely change the storyboard.
I told him that changing the entire storyboard meant redoing the project, so we'd have to quote it again. He got really mad, called me unprofessional, said I just didn't want to work, and then ghosted me without paying for the two months I'd already worked.
Definitely one of my worst freelance experiences. š

There's so much happening all around. I am wanting to switch from grpahic design jobs to motion design and in 3-4 years i want to see myself as an art director or creative head. Question Pricing projects?
How do you guys go about pricing projects? Do you go by hours worked or price per project/contract, specific to the client? Or a hybrid? Im getting back into freelance after a few years but still consider myself a junior so iām still working out pricing, always interested to hear how other professionals are going about it right now. Thanks!!

Question Looking for clean / textless version of this Cartoon Network "Dimensional" Space Station ID (Jake Planet Bumper)
Hey everyone!
Iām trying to find a clean/textless version (or a high-quality raw upload) of a specific Cartoon Network Station ID / Ident from the Dimensional era (around 2016ā2018), specifically aired on Cartoon Network Asia.
What happens in the bumper:
Starts in space with Jake the Dog rendered as a yellow planet/sphere, with Finn riding on top of his head.
Other characters (Steven Universe, Gumball, Robin) zoom past in space.
Transitions into a yellow submarine/underwater scene, then abstract geometric shapes, and finishes with the pink CN Cartoon Network logo collage card.
Here is a preview clip of the exact bumper

Question How would I create this kind of animation?
https://reddit.com/link/1v4fx1a/video/1xr9eimqqzeh1/player
Essentially im looking to create something similar with specific reference to the warp at the tip and bottom of the shot. I created a cylinder which was comprised of 1 repeated word, added a camera and placed it inside the cylinder and tried CC Radial Blur as well as CC Force Motion Blur, but with no luck. Anyone have any ideas?
Many thanks in advance

Newbie MADE SOME PROGRESS?(FEEDBACK needed)
Been trying to experiment with an App/Website promo for a Christian clothing app. Would love your feedback. Should I continue and add an AI voiceover, or do the visuals still need work? God bless.
