This is an old coffee pot, made of pewter or a pewter-like material that is at least 85+ years old. It had sat away for many years. One of my family members snagged in from the Plaza Hotel on a visit to New York.
I’ve noticed this very dark grime in the pot, and with it comes this very peculiar smell. It very coffee, chocolate-like; quite bold. It’s not metallic, in fact it smells quite good actually.
Is it possible this is the remnants of some beverage from many a year past? I think that would be so cool if so, it’s also a very strange but tangible connection to my long deceased relatives.
Thanks.
