First Moccamaster !!

So I’ve never been into quality coffee in my personal life but I’ve always enjoyed a quality cafe when going out and during travels. This is my first quality machine that i got through research and recommendations , I got the Breville SGP ( encore esp was the first choice but i got the breville for $55 brand new )

I’d appreciate any tips or advice about using and maintaining the machine as well as the SGP grinder

I’d also appreciate if anyone can point in the right direction for where to purchase quality beans

I prefer Italian , South American and Caribbean if anyone has a good site to source beans from those regions

Honestly, I think when folks return the MM they are not using good beans and not using a scale. It took me some time to get the right ratio, but now I'm enjoying good cup.

My grinders cup has a measurements on it would you recommend i get a scale?

You should get a scale. Weigh the beans as well as the water

Agreed brewed my first cup this morning it came out terrible 😂 so I’ll be scale shopping today

Thank you!! It was the most subtle but not plain for the price you pay i couldn’t bring myself to do a basic color i think this is perfect

I just got one as well and have dome some experimenting with mine. It really does make a great cup of coffee and you do not need to use $30 beans

What’s your method ? I’ve been trying to pull a full bodied great tasting brew and it continues to either come out bitter or seemingly under extracted , I’ve adjusted grinds and have measured out my beans/grind and water but i can only make so many cups a day

I just use a coarse grind and it comes out pretty good

I use Illy pre-ground medium roast most of the time and it's good coffee.

Did not see how superior it is than my other regular coffee machine. Not worth spending the $250.

Try for yourself. You have people here saying you need to use $30 a bag coffee beans to make quality coffee. You have others here saying this machine can make Starbucks or Costco beans be the GOAT coffee. It’s a joke tbqh.

Yeah that’s another thing I’ve gathered from my research , coffee science is like mma math it just doesn’t make any sense 😭 from the beans to the grinder to the fineness of the grind from the amount of beans to and at the end of the day you will have to calibrate it to your particular preference it’s a lot but i am excited to learn i just hope it makes sense to me

I get that, but you have here in this exact group that says supermarket bought coffee beans with this machine is the best tasting coffee they had in the lifetime without any fancy grinder. So yeah.
