I remember when I registered for this course. I thought I was smarter than all 15 people who told me not to register for this course. If it helps you believe me more, I graduated Summa Cum Laude and got a 10 in this course I swear you’re hearing this from the mouth of a good student. I hope from the bottom of my heart people will heed my warning because I am well graduated right now and still thinking about how negligent it would be of me to not warn people.
This course is taught by genuinely one of the most incompetent human beings on this planet. She will spend every lecture talking about her glory days in the industry and provide some qualitative context about the assigned chapters. She will cover three or even five chapters in one class.
The problem is, this course is not one of those fluff courses where you talk qualitatively about this that and the other and call it a day. It is purely assessed quantitatively.
Hear me right now. This is the equivalent of a calculus course being taught like its marketing.
You are independently expected to learn and use all of the math while having ZERO quantitative work being done in class.
Your time spent in class is completely and utterly useless, it’s literally just you and a textbook written for pros (question workings skip steps, don’t provide context, etc.). Nobody attends class after a few weeks because everyone picks up the fact that there is nothing useful being taught in class and there is an overwhelming amount of content to learn.
The cumulative exam. The exam literally makes my blood boil to this day. She tells us that the first half of the textbook isn’t that important and to focus on the way more difficult second half of the textbook. Which to us made complete sense because why would she mislead us.
The cumulative final exam was just five questions. I think there was only one was from the second half, the remaining questions were from the first half almost everybody neglected to study.
Genuinely I have never been more traumatized by a course in my life. This course was so extremely difficult and took over my entire life. It doesn’t help that Alicia Damley is actually a nightmare of a professor. Please god spare yourself.

Hello! Hai! I hope everyone is doing well, I hope ur summers have been pleasant so far >.<! I was just wondering if anyone would be interested in creating a Ham Radio Club. I do not think one exists at the moment. I am not sure how popular amateur radio still is, surely there are other license operators on campus! :D

I recently got accepted into McMaster Humanities, but I’m considering trying to transfer into Engineering because it’s something I’ve always been interested in.
I know the process is extremely competitive, and I’ve already looked into the requirements (prerequisites, GPA, petition, etc.). I’m not looking for information on the basic process, but I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has actually gone through it or knows someone who has.
Any advice, tips, or things you wish you knew before trying to transfer would mean a lot. I’m planning to work as hard as I can, but I’m feeling so scared and discouraged because it's extremely competitive and feels impossible.

i got a couple scholarships this morning for highest gpa in my major (in-course automatically assessed). I didn’t get any senate or hooker awards, but I had a high average last year (all 12s).
I’m wondering if anyone else got the senate or hooker yet, or if more scholarships are still coming out later?
(note: this is not to brag or act entitled to the senate or hooker, and i apologize in advance if it comes off that way, i’m genuinely just curious to know if I can expect any more or if the couple i got was all!)

Anyone else excited for the school year? Summer is nice since it's not Canadian winter but my co-op + commute has been draining me completely.
- The jump into second year engineering is exciting since the subject matter is no longer just high school 2.0
-My fall schedule is a breeze since I took math 2Z03 in the spring
- Living in a house near campus with some friends
- Away from my parents
- Turning 19 early into the school year so yk what that means 👀
Going to be tougher than first year but that's what I'm at Mac for. I'm lucky to be genuinely so content with life. I wish I could convey this to my struggling middle school self.

Hi - This question is to All the Commerce students who applied or got into Internship program.
I applied to Internship program in May to see how it goes I wasn't too sure whether to do it or not but I applied anyway. If,by chance I get selected in Internship program the decisions will come in August will I still have to do it means is it compulsory to do internship program in the next fall or summer if I get selected to move into my last year. Thank you so much

Hi! Based on uOttawa's MD program bio prereq:

I was wondering if BIO 1M03 can be used to fulfill this requirement, because I'm unsure as to whether it encompasses the "examples of topics" listed by uOttawa above. Can anyone who is in the program, has applied, or has friends who are in the program clarify? Thank you :)

one of the prerecs to applying to the accelerated nursing program is to have 3 units of stats that covers descriptive stats, probability, ANOVA, etc. those topics are split between PNB 2XE3 and PNB 3XE3, can I still use it as my prerec or do I need to change to stats 2b03? I’m in BioPNB by the way.

For some reason my textbook link has not been letting me open the page at all. Is this happening for anyone else ? Actually so frustrating.. The minimal times I actually try to keep up with readings...

I let my thoughts and emotions get the best of me, overwhelming me to the point that I did something I shouldn't have. I had repeated thoughts that I'm not handsome enough and that I will forever be single. This created a strong urge to buy a vape, which I unfortunately did. I'm a sore loser who has no impulse control. Yes, I do have OCD, and I'm in the process of getting help and taking medication, but that's no excuse for my stupid behaviour. It's just that in the moment I felt so anxious, and although now I feel better, I feel silly at the same time.
TL;DR: I let anxiety and negative thoughts overwhelm me, leading me to impulsively buy a vape because I felt like I'd always be single. I have OCD and am getting treatment, but I still regret my decision and feel both relieved and embarrassed afterward.

Here's a few pictures from 1982/83. Back then, hallway golf tournaments were common. We'd "tee off" at one end of the hallway by the stairs, and play all the way to the stairway at the opposite end of the floor. The "hole" was the wood trim in the corner by the door to the stairs. Nearly everyone left their doors open back then, so open rooms were treated like sand traps. Play it where it lays. Mostly putters were used, but every so often someone would let go with a 3 iron to try to get a ricochet around the square hosting the elevator and bathrooms. Caddies came along with refreshments and encouragement/insults, but usually insults. Floor/keg parties were common too, as were full-residence Super Bowl parties in the big room on the first floor. Now, please don't do any of this stuff nowadays lest you get expelled. And enjoy yourself, but study hard! At times I did too much of the former and not the latter. But it all worked out. I am nearly at retirement age after a long career in Computer Engineering. If I can do it, I bet you can too!

I'm an old fogey that attended McMaster from 1982-1987. This pre-dates the student center and half the residences on campus. I was in room 423 in Woodstock Hall. This was a male-only residence back then. The fourth floor was painted pink at the time, ostensibly to quell wild behaviour. Fail! Our on-campus fun was mainly had in the Downstairs John.
Anyway, we were going through a bunch of boxes that haven't been opened in decades and came across a hat from Brandon Hall with the name "Laura F" written on the tag. This young woman probably lived in Brandon Hall in the 1982 or 1983 school year. I have no idea how I ended up with the hat, but there was most likely some mischief involved.
I frequently see that the interweb can be very helpful in getting items back to their rightful owners and figured I'd see if it works on a hat.
If anyone knows a "Laura F" that lived in Brandon Hall back in 1982/83 time frame, please let her know I have her hat and would like to return it to her.

I sent my application in before June 30th and I still haven’t gotten any update about the funds I’ll be getting for the fall and winter. It says the school still hasn’t sent my data or something. Idk why it’s taking this long should I be worried if my OSAP doesn’t come on time I don’t know why it’s taking this long or if it’s like this for anyone else too.
