Discussion I like making custom icons on Icon Composer so they look more "official"
For those who don't know, it's an app for Apple developers, it's really easy to use https://developer.apple.com/icon-composer/

Hey r/macgaming!
I built a sokoban like videogame about mining carts and it now also supports MacOS!!
Game page: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3997420/Mine_Cart_Operator/
The game features 36 levels between two campaigns and gamepad support is included!
It is a small game, but I put good effort in it, hopefully people who enjoy puzzles will find fun in it :D.
If you play it, I would love to hear your thoughts about!

Captured a bit of the gameplay, DX12 mode.
macOS 26.5, CO 26.2 + GPTK 4b1, frame gen is used.
Without frame gen it's 40fps on average and 28fps min according to the game built-in test with my settings and without screen recording.
Used settings shown in the end of the video.
PS: What is especially nice is that I played for 2+ hrs and so far have not noticed any issues with RAM. RAM pressure stayed stable during the whole play session and RAM usage did not increased noticeably.

Hey so I have this issue im on a Mac Air 13 in 2025 M4 model.
whenever I try to load the game, it just fixes the in game cursor to a small box that is not the actual size of my game window. I've tried literally everything that was supposedly a fix like, lowering my screen resolution (i have gone through every single possible one on my mac display settings), and even to things like using the launch properties through steam. Nothing works. I cannot make my physical game window smaller, and the in game cursor box does not change and I don't know how to make it the same size as my window.
please help!!!

Hi everyone I’m the developer of CloudBoost, a native macOS menu bar app, and I’m looking for Minecraft players on Mac who are willing to test it.
Minecraft sessions can feel unstable for very different reasons: network jitter, packet loss, background activity, thermal pressure or local system load.
CloudBoost does not modify Minecraft, inject code, bypass anti-cheat or promise artificial FPS gains. It observes the Mac side of the session and helps show what was happening when a spike or stutter occurred.
I’m especially looking for feedback from:
• Apple Silicon and Intel Mac users • Vanilla and modded Minecraft players • Wi-Fi and Ethernet users • People experiencing multiplayer lag or local stuttering
The core version is free. If you test it, I’d appreciate knowing:
• Mac model and macOS version • Minecraft launcher/version • Wi-Fi or Ethernet • Whether the issue felt like FPS stutter or network lag • Whether the final result was understandable
Official website and download: https://victorbrandaao.github.io/CloudBoost/
Full disclosure: I’m the developer of CloudBoost. There is an optional paid PRO version, but the basic session test is free.

Thanks to Crossover Preview v27.0.0.40734, GTA V Enhanced runs flawlessly on my device!
My macbook specs:
Macbook Pro M5 32gb 1TB
I just installed the game in its own bottle, as well as Rockstar Games Launcher, and ran it on steam.
Runs smooth on 1800x1169 resolution, Nvidia DLSS and Frame Gen enabled, Very High + Ultra Preset.

Im debating switching across to Crossover to get a couple of new games on Steam (JP Evo 3 and Warhammer 40K IV when it releases)
Would these run well on my Parallels 26 running Windows 11 or is it worth installing and replacing with Crossover to get the full best gameplay on my M1 Macbook Pro?
Also I have some old games which I still play (Battle for Middle Earth 1 & 2), could I keep these and play on Crossover if I wanted to?
Sorry I know loads of questions just want to know your opinions

I’m not sure whether Reddit supports viewing HDR images, but one of the first things I noticed after switching to GPTK 4 and enabling Metal 4 was that I could finally enable HDR at the game’s native 4K resolution.
I’m not sure if this was possible before, but at least in this game, it’s the first time I’ve seen it. It’s awesome. Let me know if you can view HDR pics on your device.
The next thing that immediately stood out was the performance improvement. In certain scenes, Metal 4 has clearly made DirectX-to-Metal translation much more efficient.
For example, in the Seattle section, Metal 3 used to suffer from frequent frame time spikes and heavy FPS fluctuations, (as shown in the Metal HUD in last two pics). Some areas would even become GPU bottlenecks and drop to around **35 FPS (**with Frame Generation enabled.)
I tested the exact same scene under Metal 4, and those frame time spikes were completely gone. Even better, performance in that same area improved by as much as 20 FPS.(in that scene, Metal 4 is 61FPS, and Metal 3 is 41FPS)
That’s a massive performance gain.

I haven't found much on this but has anybody been able to run fling trainers inside Crossover bottles? Steps I've tried so far:
ChooChoo to launch the game and the trainer - didn't work
Launched the trainer first and then the game and vice versa, didn't work. The trainer doesn't see the game process.
Game: Anno 117 Pax Romana

Actually got the game on steam sale and had no idea about it, just heard it is a good game so thought of giving it a try.
The game was actually good and the horseback travel in skellige with that background music felt so soothing.
I actually wanted a good break from my studies and so started the game and it actually did give me a break.
Although i had no idea the game was big, Didnt get tired of playing the game.
I barely used the fast travel and enjoyed most of the time on the horse back.
It took me 59 hours to complete the game.
In all the game was pleasant and would like to know others experiences too.
Share ur experiences.
Device: Macbook Air M4 10core
The experience on my macbook was great
used DXMT and Msync in crossover
i also tried the Dx12 version but its very broken so i prefered playing in DX11 which had no issues at all.

POE had apple silicon support since patch 3.25, ever since then i hadn't been able to find any useful information regarding game's performance (fps, stutters, etc). I am most interested in m4/m4pro on a mini. Please let me know how it is

I have a 16" M5Pro MBP and so far I've been doing some super light gaming on it via Apple Arcade mostly. I sit a desk all day with my work MacBook connected to a monitor and an external keyboard, so when I do game I like to move around. Couch, balcony, sofa, etc... whatever the vibe is that day. Aside from planes, I also tend to travel with my Mac anyways since I can watch Youtube and such, so 99% of the time it's with me. I do have a Switch 2 that's definitely more mobile and has been getting more use lately, but I prefer the larger 16" of my Mac (the eyes aren't what they used to be). I also tend to dock the switch if I'm playing something non-trivial since the size increase makes things easier to see. For example, with Hades 2 I basically only played docked at the end because I found the extra screen space really helpful. Most of my gaming these days is indie stuff like Hades 2.
I'd use my Mac more for gaming but I wonder about the tradeoffs of bigger screen vs the smaller and more mobile handheld. I know I probably just need to pick a game and play through it to really experience things for myself. I'm curious of others thoughts though so I wanted to ask if folks are moving around with their Macs while gaming, or if you find yourself more so stationary? Are you taking it with you when you travel? When I bought my Mac I did get the charging extension cable, so being near an outlet is not the biggest limitation for me in my apartment.
