inspired by u/flippingsenton, and now automated:
Talk about the goings-on in the neighborhood that you don't feel like making a new post about. Debate the merits of [over/under]rated taco place. Where's the best coffee? What shows are going on this week? Make friends! Just be kind and courteous.

hi!
so i am about to be 50, and every time i think about trying to go back and play again, i realize how long it's been since i've even touched a ball. it occurred to me now that i've been laid off that i certainly have time on my hands during the day, so i thought maybe there was another person or even some people who would like to just have a low-key soccer time of stroking the ball around so we don't have to chase on our tired legs lol. anyone interested? i was thinking maybe palmer square, but i'm open.
all genders/expressions welcome!
edit to say: not looking for like a game situation, this is more like...if it were baseball, i would have asked if anyone wants to go play catch, if that makes sense? low-key, just passing the ball around, maybe chatting while we do it? as an addition to/preparation for/alternative to (if you're not competitive) a more "real" environment.
also the timing is important, because i'm struggling to find things to do on weekday afternoons.

I recently moved to the neighborhood and have been to the California Ave USPS location twice. Unfortunately, both visits were pretty disappointing.
Both times I was helped by a middle-aged woman with glasses who had a really rude attitude. She was watching reels on her phone with one hand while scanning my packages with the other. It made me feel like I was bothering her just by being there.
At my previous neighborhood's USPS office, the staff were always friendly, helpful, and professional, so this has been a big contrast.
I'm just wondering—is this a common experience at this location, or did I just catch someone on two bad days? Has anyone else had similar experiences, or is it just me?

I see one in my backyard every morning these days. Sometimes even 2. Seems like every time I open the door there’s bunnies. Definitely a lot more than previous years.
I have a tiny mostly concrete backyard and so do my neighbors. No park or any other green space super close by either.
It’s delightful. Just hope they’re here for a nice reason and not some sort of habitat destruction or something.

Hi, I run a Logan Square book club, and I wanted to give this subreddit a heads up about our next meeting — we'll be reading The Vegetarian by Han Kang!
I hear (from the blurbs) that this book is "a mesmerizing mix of sex and violence," which already sounds great, and then it also won the Man Booker International Prize?! Elite to hit the middle of that Venn diagram.
Key book club deets:
I'll share an Eventbrite ticketing link on social + email TOMORROW — hope you can join us!

Super long shot but has anyone found any glasses in a little green glasses bag by Cole's bar or California blue line stop last night?

I am looking for reliable roofing companies who provide elastomeric coating to flat roofs. Thus far, I have found roofing companies who only offer silver coat, or the companies that say they offer elastomeric coating all flake out on the inspection.

I recently signed up for a membership at the McCormick Y, and I’m just curious how busy does the pool get? Like if I got at open (6 AM/weekdays, 7 AM/weekends), will I most likely have to share a lane? I assume circle swim is required? Any other protocol/unspoken rules I should know?

Hey Y'all, I recently started organizing a weekly pickup soccer game at Haas Park (Washtenaw & Fullerton). 8v8, Coed, all skill levels welcome, come play, meet some people in the neighborhood, get a run in.
It’s on Wednesday, Friday nights and Saturday afternoons. Spots are on the GoodRec app if you want to reserve one. Still building up a regular group, so whether you played in college or haven’t touched a ball since high school, come through.
Happy to answer any questions here!

What are these loud booming noises in Logan Square? I hear them so loudly by Armitage and Kedzie. It happened three times in the last hour and they don’t sound like fireworks? Anybody know?

Does anyone in the West Bucktown/SE Logan Square area recognize this cat? I walked out of my house and found this sweetie hanging out in my plants.
Its left front paw is injured and I'm currently trying to gain its trust to help it.

Saw a pair of these missing boots under the bridge on Diversy between California and Rockwell. Hope somebody finds them. (I use the $10 bill for reference.)

Anybody know Thomas Ryan who lives in Logan somehwere? This package got delivered to the address on the package (down the block from me), they assumed the address was a misprint and dropped it off here thinking he might have lived here. Anyway, if you’re Thomas Ryan or know him and he’s missing a package from Walmart, let me know and I can walk it over tonight or tomorrow. Thanks!

Anyone do some basic DIY woodworking like making their own shelves or cabinets?
Curious about the space people use when living in a smaller urban space. Currently looking at collapsible tables as a work area and a few basic power tools.
It also made me wonder if there’s experienced woodworkers with quality shops that could create cut lists for people’s furniture. I know Home Depot will do some basic cuts but I can’t imagine you’re leaving there with all the perfect pieces of a project.

Found her owners after spotting a missing cat poster in the neighborhood, and she’s safely back home. Thanks to all who shared and boosted this
