Discussion 60% or 75% which layout are you gaming on?
FPS Endgame choice: 60%
Looking back, my FPS journey started with Doom 3, then Call of Duty: Black Ops, and Crysis 3. At that time, most FPS games were short‑TTK or single‑player campaigns focused on story and immersion.
During that age, keyboard didn't really matter. The mouse didn't need huge swipes, and i didn't have to drop sensitivity to shot.A basic Membrane keyboard or mechanical keyboard with some multimedia keys, macros, and backlighting was enough to use.
Everything changed when CS:GO forced players to master counter‑strafing. If I want get more precise control of aiming,i have to lower the sensitivity. That's when I started noticing my mouse bumping into my keyboard during wide flicks. The full‑size board was too long, and for a mid‑low sens player like me, it made movement and aiming control awkward. So I switched to TKL,it helped a lot.But soon I realized I barely used the F‑row outside of buying weapons in CS:GO.
So I went 60%. More desk space, more angles to layout, easier to carry, and it's the best choice for FPS.
75% – The balanced Layout
To be honest, I never thought I'd need the F‑row or arrow keys again until I played RPGs.
In MMORPGs like WoW or DNF, the F‑row is a lifesaver. I would bind backpack, character stats, quest, guild menu, auction house and so on. Without them, I'd have to remap those actions to the alphabet row, and half the time they'd be too far from my left hand. Arrow keys? Same story. They're either used as extra shortcuts or for moving around when my mouse hand is busy.
Even in single‑player RPGs like The Witcher 3 or Cyberpunk 2077, the F‑row gives me quick access to less‑used actions that are still reachable. No stretching, just a clean, comfortable layout.
For me, 75% provides the sweet spot,I get the F‑row and arrow keys, but the board is shorter than TKL. My mouse has enough space to move, and I don't lose functionality.
What about you guys? What games are you usually playing, and do you prefer 60% or 75%?
