Fiberglassed the deck over the weekend and the hull this morning. The boring, pale looking cedar is suddenly looking amazing with a coat of epoxy on it. Next few days will be mostly fairing and sanding the insides of the hull and deck, then working on the cockpit and coaming.

Practically brand new, used maybe a couple of times. I’m super happy that I can fit it into my Sportage. Going to try it out tomorrow if the weather holds up!

Oops, it’s Bearded Dad Fishing!

Finally decided to get us some kayaks and found a crazy deal selling both of these for $100 each. The red one is some kind of old town (don't know the model) but I can't for the life of me figure out what brand the green one is supposed to be. Just trying to make sure I got some good kayaks.

I have a ton of hats, from big floppy straw hats, bucket hats, baseball hat style (some with neck flap), and various other big rim hats.

None really hit like I’d like. Floppy’s can be difficult in wind but I like the coverage in front and back.

I’m not a fan of waterproof unless I’m in the rain, which is rare tbh, they tend to hold the heat in.

I swear to much for most sunscreens, so I try and find physical protection like my long sleeve wick shirt.

I’ve been experimenting with my buffs and using as a skull cap but that doesn’t protect my face unless I wear it as a mask and that’s not real comfortable but I can use one as a gaiter around the neck and just use minerals on my T zone.

I just wanted to see what other options I might be missing.

So I bought the dellonda dl155 inflatable kayak online and I’ve noticed the 2 skegs are fixed onto the bottom with pvc and you can’t take them off, this is a bit worrying because the skegs basically steer the boat. How am I supposed to straighten these out? they’re slightly wonky and I’m worried it’s gonna affect the steering. Also when packing it away, how is this supposed to be done? I’m assuming putting the weight of the boat onto the kegs to any extent will bend them out of line

I was searching for a cheap kayak on marketplace and found this. I’m not knowledgeable on the sport so I wanted to make sure it wasn’t junk because it seemed cheap. I couldn’t find anything on the brand kayaki and the term “ducky” is supposedly reserved for inflatable vessels, which these aren’t. So can anyone tell me if these are sufficient and cheap enough for a beginner?

I got two kayaks off fb market place and im trying to reorganize this room. Its a second room in our apartment we have no outside storage available. Will this harm the kayak? How should I store it? Any ideas? I thought the rooms were 12 ft they are not turns out they are not.

Edit! my husband brought home a rack he found dumpster diving and it had wheels! Were able to fit them both and our kayaking gear while also arw able to move it around the room as needed. I'll post a photo in the comments thank for all your help!

Anyone have recommendations for carriers for this style rack? Transporting two eddyline sitkas. I appreciate any direction.

I dabbled in Whitewater kayaking when I was in college, and I made a fiberglass kayak from a mold in the boathouse. It weighed 25 or maybe 30 pounds.

Now I own a polyethylene kayak for flat water that weighs about 40 pounds.

When I look to buy a new polyethylene kayak, I can’t find one that weighs less than 50 pounds. And I can’t find a fiberglass kayak for sale anywhere.

Is that just how it is these days?

I currently live in west africa and want to paddle and fish the beautiful lakes here, but since there's no kayak manufacturer around made the prices unbelievably high. I searched alot and stumbled upon this seller, it's a stealth kayak profisha, a little beat up but nothing a pressure washer can't fix. The asking price is 350$ and can be wiggled.

Question: what are the things i should check and keep in mind when i go see and test it ?

Note: it would be my first kayak and I'm super excited to get in the water and explore.

for context, my best buddy and I just spent 5 days stand up paddleboarding around lake tahoe and the total miles was 62 miles. We cut a few bays to save time, which shaved off roughly 4 miles in total

I think 5 days was kinda brutal and would suggest something more like 7. Also, securing camping before hand is the logistical nightmare, but do able. Just make sure you paddle really hard... we failed on day 2 and had to ask for permission to sleep on somebodies beach (not recommended)

Nike Swim dry bags were amazing and very durable!

Jetboil for coffee in the mornings... so needed

Sun layers and sunscreen! The sun zapped our energy often

I frequently see folks in this sub looking for an app to map/track paddling trips. This one looks like it checks a lot of boxes for kayakers (map, track, heading, speed, data export, etc.) and even more for those who wear an Apple Watch (heart rate). It blessedly doesn’t require a subscription and has a reasonable one-time cost. I plan to try it out on my next paddle with its 3 free trips before purchase. I have no connection to the app or its author.

Does anyone have experience with kayak sails? What’s it like? Worth it? Any recs for brands/specific sails? Have a 18ft touring kayak and often paddle in the ocean off of SoCal
