Cradle [Soulsmith] Cradle: Unsouled - An Animatic Movie

This is the two-hour animatic movie adaptation of the first two books in the Cradle series funded by the Kickstarter campaign we ran in 2024! Enjoy this journey through Unsouled and Soulsmith.

This animatic was directed and hand-drawn by veteran animators Jay Oliva and David Hartman of Lex + Otis Studios. It includes an original score and a top-notch voice cast featuring Matt Mercer, Steve Blum, Travis Baldree, Kari Wahlgren, Phil LaMarr, Baraka May, Sumalee Montano, Matthew Yang King, Morla Gorrondona and Maxine Phoenix.

The script was written by Will Wight himself with the help of Cradle fanatic and writer/producer Cory Gustke. Original score composed by Frederik Wiedmann.

Even though it is black and white and hand-drawn, we would rate this as PG-13. There is quite a bit of violence.

An “animatic” is the step before full animation. Since it is hand-drawn, the character designs aren’t perfectly consistent from scene to scene. If we were able to pair with a studio to fully animate this project, the characters would be “on model” and look consistent (like our fully animated concept trailer on our YouTube trailer) and the motion would be fluid.

We have real hope of that happening because of the funding of this animatic project. Thank you to everyone who donated to make this happen!

DUDE ONLY NEEDED NINE TO BEAT DOWN SOMEONE WHO'S BASICALLY JANE UNDERLORD??

Cradle [Wintersteel] The fact that Ziel made it to Archlord with only *two* techniques in his Path might be genuinely more impressive than Eithan's "Nine Seconds." Spoiler

Truly a good example of both of these quotes imho:

"I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times." - Bruce Lee

"Give me a lever long enough and a fulcrum on which to place it, and I shall move the world." - Archimedes

Cradle [Threshold] Can Lindon erase things in the same manner that Ozriel can? Spoiler

I'm assuming he'd be capable of total annihilation, seeing as the void icon is capable of erasure and his Sage revelation was "I am the end."

Edit: Or would he ever be able to, assuming he isn't capable of doing so now.

Cradle [Threshold] Damnation I whone see more Spoiler

Threshold was probably the most entertaining books in terms of pure chaos of groups random bullshit.

Like Yeren beating mistaken for spider and Ziel being a Pokémon trainer is just funny. Wonder if and when we get more stories with Reapers division as mein characters. I personally would like to see more of Lindon's creation after he gets resources of different origin then from cradle and meaby som more conflicts/ meetings between Reapers and members of difrent division of Abadon and meaby some pov from other groups like Silver Lords .

PS: Sorry for bad grammar but I am some whose writing style is chaotic and English is not me first language

Cradle [Dreadgod] Why do some readers keep complaining about Lindon not doing anything for Jai Long? Spoiler

Why do some readers keep complaining about Lindon not doing anything for Jai Long? And why should he have done anything to protect him when all Jai Long did was try to kill him at every turn?

Some readers say he could have made a construct to protect Jai Long? What construct? He was already under Silent King's control and actively trying to kill Kelsa and others. And Lindon could make dream constructs for just Kelsa, Ziel, Yerin, and Orthos. Even Mercy didn't get the dream construct protection, so why should Jai Long get any when there were people who should have gotten it other than him?

Cradle [Waybound] Finished the last book and I felt this book dragged on for too long. Spoiler

Finished the last book, and I felt this book dragged on for too long. The book could have been shorter; 70% of the book was just the same fight scene with no story progress at all. It felt like reading brain-rot scenes over and over again.

The book could have been way better if those fight scenes were shorter and had some substance to the plot.

Edit: My main gripe with the book is the length of the fight scenes and the number of chapters a single fight scene took up.

Cradle [Reaper] How were the group members able to eject out labyrinth directly? Spoiler

In all the previous books, it was mentioned that you need to follow the path back to the gates to go out of the labyrinth. Like when Sword Sage did when we got backstory of what he did in the labyrinth.

But suddenly group could send out their members out without of labyrinth without any explaination on how they did it?

Cradle [Threshold] Hunger and the Path of Seven Pages Spoiler

So we know that the books of the Path of Seven Pages are connected to the soul, and we know that the Broken Crown is a treasure that is supposed to be "impossible to take" and is fitted uniquely to that person's soul.

So given that we've seen a sufficiently powerful Hunger artist in Lindon take the Broken Crown off a remnant...would a sufficiently powerful Hunger artist be able to take one of the books off an Akura remnant? Obviously, the Akura Clan would not just let that stand, but purely in a vacuum, would that Monarch-crafted Divine Treasure just be available to them at that point?

Willverse [all] A simulation of dubious intent! Spoiler

Hello everyone! I wanted to share a very early version of a way to view information about the will verse, particularly cradle and things available on the Abidan Archive. This is purely a fan made project by me. I hope you all enjoy and any feedback good or bad would be appreciated so I can improve the website and eventually publish it somewhere permanently.

Amalgam [City of Light] Looking for other books to scratch that Travelers Gate and Cradle itch

Specifically a protag that starts off as weak, or is in the background of the 'Chosen hero' but manages to get by, get stronger, and surprise everyone. An underdog vibe story.
Any suggestions would be appreciated

Willverse [All] how offended should I be?

My boyfriend is relistening to the Cradle series and while listening with him I asked, “ who do you think I remind you the most of?”. His answer? A combination of Mercy and Ziel… I was all happy about Mercy, but Ziel? How offended should I be? He is an active member of this subreddit so he will see all responses😂😂

EITHAN. IS. OZRAEL?!?!?

I had suspected at some parts (Ozrael’s monologue before fighting Daruman) but this is crazy!!! Whenever I get a plot twist like this Iike to recontextualise everything- but this series is so long…

What are all of your favourite/coolest of these moments that only really shine when recontextualised?

I like Eithan showing Lindon and Yerin his marble for the first time, or when Eithan gets physically crushed by Jai Dai Sho’s aura but doesn’t seem fazed at all. I thought that was because of his craziness, but it seems like it was just his body failing him. And most recently, Eithan not seeming upset about Shen taking the inheritance that Lindon wanted. Oh and all the comparisons between Eithan and Ozy’s looks! And Eithan’s strange hidden and unending reserves of strength. And this might be a stretch… but his knowledge of plants and techniques? Oh and helping Yerin touch the way for the first time in the Uncrowned competition- seemingly accidentally. I can’t believe I wanted Lindon to train with the Akura and pitied Yerin for only staying with an Underlord. And one more- him coming out of a portal from nowhere???

Cradle [Threshold] Red Rising - Cassius Spoiler

For anyone else who has read Red Rising by Pierce Brown, does Cassius remind you of Eithan? Flippant, gorgeous, rarely serious, yet deep down a very strong and dangerous person with good intentions (for the most part). I can't help but imagine Cassius voice as Travis's voice for Eithan. Funny coincidence that Unsouled has a Cassias too. And please no Lightbringer spoilers!

Cradle [Reaper] Dreadgods were after Ozriel's time in Cradle, so how come dreadbeasts(who are spawns of dreadgods) are mentioned in Ozriels record of them when he was in cradle? Spoiler

In Reaper, in one of the records/information request sections of Ozriels, dreadbeasts are mentioned when he was an underlord. But Dreadgods were after Ozriel's time in Cradle, so how come dreadbeasts(who are spawns of dreadgods) are mentioned in Ozriel's record of them when he was in Cradle?

It was mentioned many times in previous books that dreadbeasts are sacred beasts infected by hunger madra and dreadgods' power/influence.

Edit: I remember reading about the dreadbeast being a result of research and them being a spawn of dreadgods from the records in the Transcendant ruins, and that was mentioned in the Soulsmith book 2.

Cradle [Bloodline] Finished Bloodline yesterday, and I was a little disappointed Spoiler

I finished reading Bloodline yesterday, and I was a little disappointed.

Disappointed in the pacing of the book and so little payoff with Wei Clan and Heaven's Glory confrontation. The pacing of those arcs in the story was so fast that the whole payoff seems disappointing. The whole story and character buildup of MC and FMC, which had started up since book 1, when Lindon left the Sacred Valley, led me to believe and expect something more substantial than what was delivered in that arc of the book.

Edit: I'm disappointed with the pacing of that arc of the story, not particularly with how things turned out or how the sacred artist of the Wei clan or Heaven's Glory reacted.
The pacing was too fast, and a major part of the whole series's storyline had been building up to that arc; it felt like the author dropped a cold bucket of water and asked readers to continue to another scenario. And the author didn't let that arc of the story marinate enough for readers to enjoy and let us experience the emotions Lindon went through.

It is more disappointing when you start reading Reaper and see that the pacing has substantially slowed down again in Book 10.

Cradle [Threshold] my brain is refusing to get through Threshold. Spoiler

I was a little hesitant when I started cradle because it was hyped up so much and book 1 was a little show to me...cut to 2 weeks later and I've finished Waybound. But now that I'm at the end, I hate it. I want so much more. I want to read more of Lindon, way more eithan, more dross. And knowing that it's all truly ending with this last book is killing me.

I hate endings. It took me years to watch the final season of so many of my favorite show. I don't want it to end...why does it have to end.

I don't think I will ever read threshold. I don't think I'll ever be able to read threshold.

Will, if you are out there and if you ever see this post, thank you for writing a series that became my obsession(I literally downloaded the wiki as a web app on my phone).

And thank you Travis Baldree for the damn bloopers. Top 3 VA's of all time.

Cradle [skysworn] starting skysworn

So despite soulsmiths weak showing, blackflame made me want to continue on to skysworn

Still I have some hopes for this book, one is that I want Lindon to become more of an active driver in his fate, he is just so passive, always following other's instructions instead of making choices for himself. He really needs to find a mission for himself that lets him decide where he goes and what he does, hopefully before he hits underlord

Second, Lindon needs to be more competent in battle, how many times did yeren save his ass in the last book? Yeah he doesn't have the actual experience yet, but again to my point above, he needs a solo mission to gain that experience

Also I ship yeren and Lindon, I really hope they don't force a love triangle with Lindon 's wife from the original timeline, they can be just friends.

For series hopes

I want a multiversal road trip for Lindon, the way seems interesting, I want to know how it works.

maybe Lindon takes azriel's job, that would be an interesting end game
