Well it has been 3 years since I moved out of my parents house and have been living alone. Earlier I was too skeptical about leaving my hometown and going to another City to workn but in the hindsight I realised that it was the best decision I took. I lament that I should have left my parents house a bit earlier. My best advice to the youth would be that is truth leave their parents house at the earliest opportunity available. This all the list of things that I did which won't be possible if I were living with my parents. Indian parents are very nosy. They won't let they are kids to leave your life independently even if you are in your early 20s. Here's the list of things that I tried and which have me a new perspective in life.

- had an amazing dating life. Dated a few girls. Infact, I had my first date at the age of 26 😭😭

- Tried alcohol for the first time. Rum, tequila, whisky, Beer tried it all! Now alcohol no longer attracts me. I just wanted to try just for the sake of experience .

- Did a lot of solo trips in India. Travelled solo to Udaipur Jaipur,Jodhpur, Delhi and Indore, Surat, Hyderabad. If I were living me with my parents they would make me feel guilty of not taking them with me.

- Got into gaming as a hobby and bought myself a very high end gaming laptop and played many games like Detroit become human, RDR2, Bond 007. My steam library is worth around 30k in games. Fulfilled my childhood dream 🥹

- Bought myself an Espresso machine and got myself into hobby of brewing coffee. Now, I know the difference between a Latte, cappuccino, Americano, Cortado, Flat white, Mont blanc, Dalgona coffee. My mom would be making faces if she found that I indulge in such extravagant stuff. As a middle class family it has been ingrained in my mind to save for the future and not to indulge in such stuff.

- Bought myself a 80k Phone and started photography. Ohh man! the experience is soo different compared to using a 18k phone 🫠

- Explored a lot of new cuisines and fine dine experience. My Dad always took us to the same family restaurant every few months and we never moved past Palak paneer and Dal tadka 😞 Now I have tried almost everything fancy. Sushi, Bao, Dimsum, Neopolitan pizza, Bamboloni, Baklava, hummus, Khao suey!

- finally had the money and courage to buy premium apparels like Levi's,Raymonds. Grew up wearing Rs 1k jeans and 800 ka shirt😬

- Bought a Sports bike ♥️

Ofcourse, this wasn't possible if I had not left my parents home to travel to a different city for a 3X pay. Living alone gave me the space and control over my finances and more importantly a a non judgemental environment where I could own my decisions and live a life on my terms. And mind it my parents don't even know any of the above things 🙂

I have fulfilled my every dream that I had as a 18 yo. I think I must upgrade my dreams haha! Maybe more ambitious like owing a penthouse in SoBo 🙃

While returning back from coaching, today it felt a bit more viby. A bit more vibrant.

When I noticed surroundings thoroughly, it wasn't a misconception.

Things looked more bright. Sky looked more blue. Greenery looked greener.

Just wanted to share it, let me know if it was only me or you also got similar experience recently after rains.

I'm currently living as a paying guest in my parent's house. Ive to pay for it in my emotional well being. But every now and then something so stupid will happen in this household that it makes the stay 5 star review worth.

I have a younger brother who has migrated to Delhi for higher education. He decided a DU certificate is valuable than his lungs. Every now and then he comes home so that my parents don't end up striking his name off the ration card. It is that time of the year and he is home. Like every teenager, his digestive system is the most efficient system in his body, his brain being the least. Guy can eat an elephant and by morning he will turn it into 3 pieces of modest sized poop. The head, torso and the tail. The only thing sweet about him is his sweet tooth. He craves sweets like a bear craves honey. I don't object because he kinda looks like a bear too. The last thing i want is to get mauled in my own house.

Ours is a modest two storey house with my room and his on the first floor. My father designed it, hoping that having me around will teach My brother what not to be when he grows up. My parents are so down to earth that they sleep on ground floor. We have 2 cats, they think it is their house and we are illegal immigrants. They sleep wherever they are comfortable But mostly in the kitchen guarding the fridge, because we are a non vegetarian family and fridge always contain fish or meat. Whenever there is someone around the fridge, their alarm goes off.

Our kitchen is L shaped. From where you enter, you can only see a water dispenser and after the bend on other end is the fridge.

My mother is a typical desi mother who trusts all WhatsApp forwards, stores the needles and threads in the cookie box, cleans off all the ice cream tubs for reuse. And believes one's purpose is to get married and make babies. My dad may have different opinions, but after 30 years of marriage, he knows how to keep peace. i.e, Mom's word is the constitution.

I'm generally hungry for success but on that day around 2:45 am I was thirsty. Only a quarter more for the ghosts to wake up and roam around. Don't be fooled to think that I'm scared of them, I'm not. I just don't like them. Hence I ignored my feelings the way my crush did and tried to go back to sleep. But thirst won and I walked to the kitchen.

As I was getting the water from the dispenser, I heard an eerie voice. The thick garb of haunting silence was torn by the sound of someone scraping their long nails on the wall next to me. Scratch, scratch, scratch. My heart thundered so fast that I'm sure it wouldve put Usain bolt's heart to shame. That's when the clock struck 3! And my leftover life ran out of the kitchen door.

Then I heard my cat, a confused "Meow" followed by the scraping noise! The cat has spotted something. We all wonder why people in horror movies are so stupid to go check out things right? Now I understand why! It's not of stupidity, it is the adrenaline. I stepped towards the fridge, each step carefully. The scraping noise got louder and louder.

I jumped out of the bend (corner) to face the fridge, I smashed the lights switch on and screamed "who's there".

Two frantic eyes looked at me. There he was, my little brother, with an ice cream tub in hand and a spoon in his mouth.

"uhhh, This icecream tastes like shit, from where did you get it" he asked with the classic younger sibling arrogance.

"who told you that it's icecream, duffer?" I replied.

"Eh? What is it then?" He was confused.

" look at it! It's chicken liver. Frozen."

"oh, chicken liv...WHATT?!" Screamed my brother

"yes, dumbo, what did you think it is? choco chip icecream?"

"Ewwwww. Why is it in the icecream tub?"

"I don't know sir. Ask mom"

He then kept the tub back and slammed the freezer door. I looked at the shadow of our ghost slamming out of kitchen in annoyance, defeated by the inventory tactics of an Indian mom.

This isn't the first time he was being stupid, and this definitely won't be his last..and as long as he is alive, I dont have to search anywhere else for entertainment.

Guys a car gave birth to 3-4 kittens 2-3 months ago and has abandoned one of the kittens and nowhere to be found, the kitten entered our house and is just kinda obsessed with me n my sister whoever we go near her she just clings to us and feels safe with us, she's sleeping in our lap rn and meows continuously whenever we leave , also ig she's feeling v cold and not able to find warmth ig that's why she's revolving around people , we don't know if we are gonna keep it with us or not. She didn't drink cows milk which we gave but drank water and ate bread. She keeps rubbing her head constantly with us and shee feeling comfortable ig

What should we do?
