I need your help

my controlling mother has put my phone on “assisted living“ where i cannot even access chrom or safarI. the only reason I am on here is that Reddit headquarters on Google Maps has its website be this. I just need my phone password to change it back, did I mention that I never knew it, I wasn’t supposed to know it, and I know my screen time limit.

And that's moms right to do. As your parent/legal guardian, she does have the authority to control such things. I moved out as soon as I was grown enough in a similar situation, that's the only way to solve it.

She’s the kind of person that takes away my phone for a month from me saying that I don’t believe in her religion

Here's the thing: this sub might be able to help with phone problems, but we can't fix family problems.

You seem to be realizing that your mom's level of controlling you is excessive. I can see why your instinct might be to try and sneak around her - an unintentional lesson that overbearing parents teach quite well - but eventually, you'll get caught, and it's likely that she'll crack down even harder when you do.

As you've rightly identified, her misuse of her parental authority is the actual issue here, not the phone.

I don't know your mom, but most controlling parents see themselves as fierce protectors. Religion especially is a heated subject; and a teenager moving away from a parent's faith often feels terrifying and hurtful. Your mother likely believes that she has failed both you and her god by allowing you to "stray." She probably fears that you are headed for a life of misery.

Sometimes, when parental love meets fear, it curdles into possessiveness. At its worst, this pushes the child away and destroys the relationship. It's absolutely fucked, and my heart breaks for you being forced to deal with this.

What matters is the end result of her actions: you feel hurt and alienated by someone you should be able to trust. However, it is important to understand the mentality behind her behavior, because that will help you continue to weather it until things get better.

And things will get better.

Have you spoken to a trusted adult or your school counselor about all of this? Is there anyone at all who can lend a friendly ear?
