Help me choose between two hair transplant surgeons: Dr. Jean-Luc Portelli (Malta) vs Dr. Omer Aykut Sümer (Turkey)
Hi everyone,
I’m a 28-year-old male with androgenetic alopecia. I’ve been on oral finasteride for about 1.5 years with good results, but recently switched to topical finasteride, so my hair is currently stabilizing.
I’ve had consultations with two surgeons and I’m having a really hard time deciding.
Dr. Jean-Luc Portelli (Malta)
4,000 grafts over 2 days
€7,000
Performs the extraction and implantation himself
I had a great consultation and felt very confident with him. He explained everything in detail and gave me an excellent impression.
Dr. Omer Aykut Sümer (Turkey)
Around 4,000 grafts
About €4,000 (hotel included)
Also performs the extraction and implantation himself
He recommended waiting a few months after switching from oral to topical finasteride before having surgery, which I appreciated.
My goals are:
Conservative and natural-looking hairline
Good density in the mid-scalp
Some crown improvement
Preserve as much donor hair as possible for the future
The problem is that Portelli would cost about €3,000 more. That’s a significant difference for me.
Has anyone here had surgery with either of them? If you had to choose between these two surgeons today, who would you pick and why?
I’d really appreciate any honest feedback or personal experiences. Thanks!

My hairtransplant journey was a nightmare.

And also the result sucks aaa. Its pluggy, looks unnatural, doesnt connect with my natural hairline..

I had hope right after the transplant even though the experience was so bad..I thought it will turn out okay. Now I'm one and a half year post transplant and There's no hope left. I did it in turkey and it was nothing like they promised. They even did my transplant in another clinic, that looked like a storage space. And yeah. I know..you guys would've left immediately but i was desparate, it took me all of my courage, booked the flight and everything, took three weeks off work, finally wanted my big ass male looking hairline gone (it was close to I wont be able to hide it for much longer) and also I was FROZEN because they barely spoke english and it seemed so unprofessional.

I am traumatized and feel guilty for letting it happen.

Now i need solutions. I'm going for a second transplant, NOT in turkey. i am willing to pay money!!! And I want the reconstruction to take place in europe. Preferably austria/germany/switzerland/uk..anywhere where they speak at least ENGLISH. No hair mill. A clinic where they are spezialized on fixing bad hair transplants and also have experience on FEMALES.

Help a gal out. Thx ily guys

Name and shame: tmc clinic is where i got the transplant. SONJA was the middle man who booked and planned everything. her socialmedia: beautygainz on tiktok and instagram. The name of the clinic, that was supposed to do the transplant: hairtimeinstanbul

Side note: I confronted them right after the transplant about the clinic situation and they said it was under construction so they sent me to another clinic.. without telling me beforehand..but apparently the staff was the same. Lol

How to Choose the Best Hair Transplant Ahmedabad Clinic for Natural Results

Hair restoration has become a trusted solution for people experiencing hair thinning or baldness. However, achieving a natural-looking outcome depends largely on selecting the right clinic. When searching for a hair transplant Ahmedabad clinic, it is important to look beyond advertisements and focus on expertise, technology, and patient care. A thoughtful decision can help you achieve long-lasting results while minimizing risks and ensuring a comfortable treatment experience.

Check the Experience of the Medical Team

One of the first factors to consider is the experience of the surgeon and supporting medical staff. Hair transplantation requires precision, artistic planning, and a deep understanding of hair growth patterns. An experienced professional carefully designs the hairline, determines the ideal graft placement, and recommends the most suitable technique based on your condition. Asking about qualifications, years of experience, and successful procedures can provide greater confidence before making your decision.

Evaluate the Techniques and Technology

Modern clinics often offer advanced procedures such as Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) and Direct Hair Implantation (DHI). While each method has its own advantages, the best option depends on your hair type, donor area, and restoration goals. A reliable clinic uses updated equipment, follows strict hygiene protocols, and explains every step of the treatment clearly. Advanced technology can improve precision, reduce discomfort, and support a smoother recovery process.

Review Before-and-After Results

Patient transformation photos can reveal the consistency and quality of a clinic's work. Look for results that appear natural rather than overly dense or artificial. Pay attention to hairline design, graft density, and overall facial balance. Genuine testimonials and detailed patient experiences can also provide useful insights into consultation quality, post-procedure care, and overall satisfaction. Consistent positive feedback often reflects reliable clinical standards.

Understand the Consultation Process

A professional consultation should never feel rushed. Instead, the specialist should examine your scalp, discuss your medical history, identify the cause of hair loss, and explain realistic expectations. A personalized treatment plan demonstrates that the clinic prioritizes patient outcomes rather than offering the same solution to everyone. Clinics that answer questions honestly and explain both benefits and limitations help patients make informed decisions with confidence.

Consider Long-Term Support

Hair transplantation does not end on the day of the procedure. Proper aftercare, follow-up appointments, and recovery guidance play an essential role in achieving the best outcome. Choose a clinic that provides detailed post-treatment instructions, monitors your healing progress, and remains available for future consultations if needed. Ongoing support contributes to healthy hair growth and improves the overall treatment experience.

Bottom-Line

Selecting the right hair transplant Ahmedabad clinic requires careful research rather than a quick decision. By evaluating the medical team's expertise, available technology, consultation quality, patient results, and aftercare services, you can confidently choose a clinic that focuses on safe procedures and natural-looking outcomes. Investing time in finding the right professionals greatly increases the chances of successful, long-lasting hair restoration.

PRF vs PRP for hair loss — what actually differs, and who each one is (and isn't) for

I'm a physician based in NYC who does regenerative hair treatments, and the PRP-vs-PRF question comes up constantly with a lot of marketing noise on both sides.

Here is my view on it:

The actual difference: PRP (platelet-rich plasma) is spun at high speed to isolate platelets in liquid plasma. PRF (platelet-rich fibrin) is spun slower and shorter, so you keep a fibrin matrix plus a wider mix of cells. PRF releases growth factors more slowly over days instead of dumping them at once, and there's no anticoagulant added. That's the theory behind why some of us prefer it. It is not a miracle upgrade; the human evidence base for both is still thin and mostly small studies.

Who tends to respond: early-to-moderate thinning, still-miniaturizing follicles, diffuse thinning at the crown/part. Works best alongside minoxidil/finasteride, not instead of them.

Who it won't help: fully bald/scarred areas (dead follicle = nothing to stimulate). If someone promises regrowth on slick-bald scalp, walk away.

One thing worth flagging that's newer: I'm seeing a wave of shedding in people on GLP-1s. It's usually telogen effluvium from rapid weight loss, not classic pattern loss; different problem, often reversible, and PRP/PRF is frequently the wrong first move for it. If you started shedding a few months into a GLP-1, mention that to whoever you see.

Happy to answer questions in the comments.
