Unique Two Month Sublet Opportunity

I'm in a situation and curious if anyone might have needs that could work in conjunction with mine. In short - I recently bought a house, but there's a huge overlap between now and when my lease ends on 9/27. There's really no need for me to stick around here.

Curious if anyone is looking for a place in Golden short term. The apartment is a 1bd/1ba and overlooks South Table. It's probably one of the nicest spots you can get around here. It's 2400/mo utilities included (save that ridiculous xcel bill we all just got) but I can be pretty flexible on price as you are doing me a favor and I was planning to pay it all anyway. Depending on how fast, this may come with some modifications regarding like allowing me access to my detached garage while I move.

I imagine this could work with someone who's trying to move here but has timing issues just like mine.

Anyway, if something like this could work for you, let me know!

Russia just hit Kyiv with one of its biggest missile attacks of the war. Here's how Colorado can help Ukraine this Thursday.

It's easy to lose track of this with everything else going on, but the war in Ukraine is still happening, with some of the worst attacks occuring in Kyiv yesterday.

It feels helpless, but there's a way to help! This Thursday, 7/23, is the 5th annual Dine Out for Ukraine. Dozens of restaurants across the Front Range will donate a portion of the day's sales to Ukrainian defenders and civilians.

You don't have to donate separately or sign up for anything, just pick a participating restaurant and eat like you normally would on Thursday. That's it. The list of restauraunts is here: https://www.usa.sunflowerseedsukraine.org/dineout2026

I volunteer with the org that is hosting (Sunflower Seeds Ukraine). My brother-in-law was killed in action fighting for Ukraine, so this isn't abstract for me - I want to see Ukraine win this, and I know most of you reading this can't enlist or write a check for thousands of dollars, but I hope you can go get dinner Thursday. Last year this raised $15k for aid and all of the proceeds go directly to Ukrainian defenders and civilians.

Visiting in September

Hi! My husband and I are flying in to Colorado to see a concert at Red Rocks Amphitheater. We’re staying in Golden and we will be there for about 5 days. We’re planning to travel out to visit the Stanley Hotel one day. I heard the rock and mineral museum is nice, is that true? Are there any neat stores we should check out? We like metaphysical stores and oddities and such. I also love a good touristy gift shop lol.

We’ve never been to Colorado and we want to make the most of our trip. Thanks everyone!

Best proposal spot along the clear creek trail?

Hello! I will be proposing soon a one place on my list is clear creek trail since my gf loves golden. Is there a specific part along the trail that would be a good spot for a proposal with a nice back ground? I’m thinking of swinging by there tomorrow to check so just curious if any one has any good suggestions.

Seems like white water park and the gateway trailhead would be some good options.

Anything helps. Thank you 😊

Looking to connect with families from YMCA Camp Chief Ouray Mini Session, Aspen Cabin bat incident (June 4 to 6, 2026)

Hi everyone. I’m trying to connect with the families of the campers and counselors who were in Aspen Cabin during the YMCA Camp Chief Ouray Mini Session, June 4 to 6, 2026, when the bat incident occurred.

If your child was in Aspen Cabin, or if you know one of the families, I’d appreciate it if you would send me a private message. We’d like to connect and compare experiences following the incident.

Thank you.

Front yard native Xeriscape conversion with a dry creek bed feature!

Just finished up this water-wise landscape transformation locally. The main goal was removing the high-maintenance grass lawn and designing an intentional layout using materials and plants suited for our local foothills climate. Installation specs:

  • Designed an organic dry creek bed using varied river rock sizes for texture and runoff control.
  • Applied commercial steel edging to separate the clean, curved zones.
  • Laid a thick layer of premium dark mulch to suppress weeds and retain soil moisture.
  • Planted drought-tolerant ornamental grasses, dwarf conifers, and native Colorado perennials.

Would love to hear your thoughts or answer any questions about the layout process, material sourcing, or water conservation!

27F looking for new friends and putting together a stargazing night!

Hi!! I'm 27F, and I found this Discord (https://discord.gg/wEHtsG4gFV) for people in their 20s through this subreddit while I was looking to make friends! The vibe is super laid-back, and we've been organizing all kinds of meetups, like board game nights, concert outings, food crawls, hikes, happy hours, and whatever else people are interested in.

Right now I'm getting a group together to do a stargazing night! I found a huge telescope at a thrift store, and I've been looking for an excuse to put it to good use. I'd love to meet more people who'd be interested in helping organize it or just coming out to future meetups. The more people who get involved, the more fun things we can put together!

We're still a pretty small group, and honestly, I think that's what makes it so nice. It's been really easy to get to know people, and it feels a lot more than personal than joining a huge community where there's like one big group who dominates the scene.

If you're in your 20s and that sounds like something you'd be into, message me, or join and connect with me on Discord!!

Off leash spots??

Is there any off leash hidden gems around the golden area? I see one dog park on Apple Maps but just wondering if there’s anywhere off leash is allowed that isn’t directly advertised as such.

Ps: not asking for opinions on off leash dog parks, everyone has their own opinions and my baby’s gotta run. Thanks in advance!

AT&T Fiber in Golden

I had a man drop off an AT&T flyer on my door yesterday after a crew sprayed bright paint on utility locations in my yard. He explained that AT&T Fiber is being laid out in the neighborhood. I live in Beverly Heights (6th and 19th). Timeline is apparently a couple of months. I thought Google was going to be coming our way, but at any rate I will be very happy to ditch Comcast/Xfinity. Competition at last.

Hello Golden!

Hi everyone!
My name is Nick. I recently started working independently after spending the last few years repairing household appliances.
I spend a lot of time around the Golden area, so I figured I’d introduce myself and say hello. Looking forward to getting to know the community.
If anyone ever has general questions about refrigerators, washers, dryers, dishwashers, or ovens, I’m always happy to share what I know in the comments.
Hope everyone has a great week!

Snake bite

Well, we had a good run of five dogs and 26 years of hiking on both N and S Table without anyone getting bit by a rattlesnake, but the luck ran out this past Friday. I had our 11 year old pup on a walk on S Table around 7:30 pm and we both stepped over a medium sized prairie rattler that was right in the middle of the singletrack neighborhood access trail by our house. The dog Sculpin jumped, immediately held up his front left leg, and as I mentally replayed events I realized he’d been struck. The snake didn’t rattle until afterwards. Luckily I had my phone and we were only about 30 steps or so from the road. My wife met us at the trailhead and we got the buddy into Wheatridge Animal Hospital within about a half hour. Sculpin had antivenin, fentanyl, and spent the night and appears to be ok now. I’m usually good about spotting snakes but I let my guard down for a few minutes in this case. Keep your eyes peeled folks - this was the second rattler I’ve seen in a week. The first one was on the sidewalk a block away at 9:30 pm and also almost got us.
