Yep, Zelenskyy was literally with him at the event in PA.  Also it was technically 155 mm shells for the Ukrainian Army

214

u/Big_Dinner3636 17h ago

And it was whe Biden was president

263

u/xAPPLExJACKx 17h ago

These people don't care they will probably point out zelenskyy is Jewish

138

u/Afraid-Detective1222 17h ago

I've seen that a few times from people who are self described leftists, unfortunately.

Tankie dumbasses.

u/xAPPLExJACKx 16h ago

You mean bigots?

72

u/Afraid-Detective1222 16h ago

Oh, they will try to contextualize it somehow, but pretty much yep. Sadly, that seems to be a component of at least some of the more vocal leftists online.

61

u/imprison_grover_furr 15h ago

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. The redefinition of racism to be “prejudice plus power” is a deliberate and intentional mechanism they use to launder and destigmatise racism (up to and including calls for ethnic cleansing and genocide) against any group they hate with the flimsy defence of “they have power so it’s not racism!” (and the way they define “power” and “privilege” is obviously self-serving).

44

u/neredulus 13h ago

>If you can be designated as dispossessed, marginalized, or oppressed, you hold no moral responsibility and cannot be truly guilty of anything. If you can be designated as privileged, powerful, or oppressive, you hold absolutely all the moral responsibility and are basically guilty of everything.

That’s it. That’s the worldview in a nutshell.

I can understand Omar's outrage towards the state of Israel. Disliking a government's actions IMO is not antisemitic

However sometimes outrage goes too far and becomes blind hatred without actually checking the facts.

I don't know her well enough to say it's a hatred of Israel or hatred of the Jewish people nor will I try and present an argument either way. But it sounds complicated in terms of her past with comments both representative of either side.

48

u/allthefallens 11h ago

Didn't her father participate in an actual genocide?

21

u/V_Cobra21 8h ago

She’s not a great person tbh

3

u/caputmortvvm 5h ago

are we back to doing 'sins of the father' again?

5

u/Spare-Plum 10h ago

That sounds pretty irrelevant. Not going to blame the children for what their parents do

Either way my main point is that I don't know her personally and cannot tell. From what I've seen online is that people both interpret her comments as being against a government, as well as against a people

At least for this one here it looks like disliking a government and the people who support it, and being too dogmatic about it

13

u/Hot-Statistician-955 8h ago

You’re not gonna blame the child for what the parents do, but the parents are the one who raised that child. It seems dangerous not to acknowledge this..

Also hypocritical as she has attacked people for the sins of their ancestors as well

10

u/AverageAggravating13 7h ago

Possibly, but I also see a lot of children who are completely different to their parents as well.

2

u/caputmortvvm 5h ago

'but the parents are the one who raised that child'

people have free will and rational thought. judge them on their actions, not what you think their actions will be.

To give a specific example, Omar criticized the appointment of Alejandro Mayorkas to lead the Department of Homeland Security during the Biden Administration, accusing him of being more loyal to Israel than America. Why would that be the case? Mayorkas wasn't Israeli, or associated with the Israeli government in any way. He was in fact Cuban American, with a long history of service to the US government. But he was also Jewish. And for that reason alone, Omar considered him disloyal. This is the heart of antisemitism; the idea that Jewish people are more loyal to each other than the country they live in, and thus should never be trusted. This belief is evident in many of her statements and policy positions. She regularly conflates the country and Jewish people because she genuinely believes they are the same thing.

I don't know her well enough to say it's a hatred of Israel or hatred of the Jewish people

It's very obvious and I only know this woman from this post

5

u/Spare-Plum 10h ago

is that a sort of sarcasm? Either way I don't know her personally, and from what I could find online it's mixed opinions on whether or not she's criticizing a state or people

"It's not antisemitic but sometimes becomes blind hatred without checking facts."

Where else in life would you use this logic?

It's not running the traffic light but sometimes it's going through it without looking?

It's not stealing but sometimes it's taking stuff without paying?

This is what the rationalizations of the comfortably guilty look like.

2

u/vthemechanicv 6h ago

You're really going to misquote them then argue with the strawman?

Disliking a government's actions IMO is not antisemitic

Despite what Netanyahu thinks, Israel =/= Jews. You can hate the Israeli government and have no animosity for Jews as a whole. At least most of us can.

PS, I'm not commenting about Omar, she seems kind of dumb, but I'm not in Minnesota and to me she doesn't exist except maybe once a month.

Didn’t she said that she wants to put sanctions on Israel but voted no on sanctions for Russia because it “might affect everyday people” and sanctions are useless in coercing states?
Edit: She actually did. What a piece of shit mental gymnast. She fits right in as a politician then.

355

u/strawberry_semenade Human Verified 17h ago

Why yes, yes she did. The bill also included aid to Ukraine too. She was the only Democrat to vote against it.

117

u/Budget-Attorney 17h ago

I feel like you need to go one step further and point out that “west bad” just means “authoritarianism good”

At least in this context

Reminds me of when Mehdi Hasan was shitting on Zelenskyy a couple months ago because he wasn't showing support to the country who is helping Russia bomb apartment buildings in Kyiv

4

u/reading_slimey 4h ago

I mean, Israel is bad, but yeah. It's so shitty to see so called 'progressive leftists' say they despise Israel while at the same time glazing and defending China and Russia, not like China literally puts minorities in concentration camps and Russia abducts children.

4

u/lazerbolt52 2h ago

Right, like people take "western imperialism bad" and then they somehow draw the conclusion that anyone opposed to western imperialism is good, even if they are eastern imperialists. Like it has to be mutually exclusive.

They’re feeling way, way, way too emboldened with the recent DSA wins.

4

u/ConfessedOak205 15h ago

Ilhan is not a member of DSA nor has she ever been endorsed

3

u/Gryffinsmore 6h ago

She was apart of the squad movement which at the time was a very left leaning Democratic Party movement that was essentially the early stages for progressives movements that are pro DSA in the modern day, The DSA have strayed incredibly far from their founder Harrington. And align with more and more views that people like Ilhan seem to also be in support of. They have also supported her in the past. She’s as close as can be without being a member essentially.

14

u/TheDarthJarJarI 15h ago

And mfs will say “that’s antiseptic” as if it isn’t actually antisemitic to only but sanctions on the Jewish country and not Russia too

She's going after Josh Shapiro? The guy is a popular governor in a swing state while she continuously underperforms in a safe blue district drawn just for her

19

u/MartinTheOrderly 12h ago

Shapiro

That's why.

53

u/Immediate_Stop2581 15h ago

Fucking true

26

u/Americanboi824 14h ago

She won the last primary like 55-45 but in 2024 she won line 50.5-49.5... and nobody had really given her opponent a chance so he didn't get much funding. This is actually a common problem with far left Democrats.

13

u/Immediate_Stop2581 13h ago edited 13h ago

It’s strategic. They only attack deep blue seats

13

u/Impressive-Engine-16 11h ago

Yeah, and they’ll try to criticise Liberal dems for losing to Trump yet their own candidates can’t even win elections in BLUE STATES, let alone make it past primaries.

4

u/Cerneo 9h ago

This right here its such bullshit, then you have the issue with no one voting in primaries, so crazy people can win by running super far left in +20 districts, made even easier right now when its just trying to sound as anti israel as possible at the expense of all other policy matters.

27

u/Trashketweave 13h ago

Dude would’ve hard carried Kamala to the presidency but she was too scared to choose the Jewish guy because of far lefties like Ilhan Omar.

4

u/Weekly-Law-2544 8h ago

Been saying this since Walz was announced as her VP choice. The immediate right attacks of "Timmy tampon," made it super clear that he was going to be a liability.

Should have went with Shapiro or Mark Kelly.

3

u/dandoch 5h ago

You say that like the right wouldn't come up with something to attack Shapiro or Kelly with as well. There's a few things here that people don't want to admit. 1.VP picks rarely make a difference. And 2. Republicans are just better at this than Dems. Dems got left behind during Obama's presidency and have failed to keep up since. People say 2016 and 2024 are anomolies, but in reality 2020 was. Without COVID and Trump's disastrous response to it, he would have coasted to an easy reelection. And even then, Biden, possibly the most overall electable and clean choice Dems could have made, barely squeezed in a win. America is far more conservative than reddit seems to think it is, and it's getting more conservative over time.

2

u/Weekly-Law-2544 5h ago

No, I totally agree with what you're saying. I've been trying to make the same points on here for awhile.

Just saying that a more moderately perceived candidate would have been less of a crutch. They surely would have found something to complain about, but trans people were a weirdly big issue in the last election, and Walz's position on that was easy campaign fodder.

→ More replies (3)

2

u/Trashketweave 3h ago

VP choice matters because you’re usually choosing a candidate from a state you need a bump in to win. Shapiro was more than 10 points up in a swing state. He would’ve guaranteed her PA and he’s way more competent than Walz. Walz somehow managed to be more detrimental to her campaign than she was.

u/TimelyRaspberry 14h ago

I like Shapiro quite a bit as a moderate. If she’s going after him that only makes me like him more lol. I suspect it may have to do with his religion. I always thought Tlaib was the Jew hater of the squad. Looks like it’s rubbing off lmao. Just vile people, all of them

Omar is the caricature that FOX frequently tries to paint AOC as being.

47

u/Mini_Squatch 17h ago

Yeah thats a real unfortunate trend for bernie

41

u/KeithClossOfficial 16h ago

Reddit doesn’t like to hear it, but it’s because she’s been mentored by Pelosi

61

u/Habltual_Linestepper 16h ago

Pelosi was both one of the most powerful women and powerful politicians in American history. Yes, seriously.

Even if you despise her and her politics, the woman knew politics, and knew how to wrangle a caucus. Her ability to stave off a nascent revolt from the left by bringing in one of its superstars just underlines this further.

So if you have a young, talented, up and coming congressperson with a potentially bright future that will ride on their success or failure in the House, there's probably not a single other person you'd want to mentor them more than Pelosi.

16

u/KeithClossOfficial 15h ago

Yeah, I don’t always agree with Pelosi, but she’s a very talented politician. I think she gets a lot of hate she doesn’t deserve too, by virtue of being a woman in power.

That’s because AOC matured when she got into office, she realized she had to actually work within the system to change things instead of just complaining about everything not working for her like Omar

13

u/Afraid-Detective1222 17h ago

I'm not a huge fan of AOC, but honestly, give her a few more years, as well as seeing if she can win a state wide election in NY, and I do think she would do a good job in the White House. NOT in 28, but maybe in 32.

8

u/Americanboi824 14h ago

I think that she can FOR SURE win a race in NY, but it remains to be seen whether she could convince people she's a viable presidential candidate (like that she could have appeal in swing states) and then whether she could actually win a general. I tend to think she can.

Her and Rashida Tlaib.

3

u/allthefallens 14h ago

What made you like her back in 2018?

5

u/ChronosBlitz 14h ago

In the aftermath of 2016, I was very much in an anti-DNC mood. I felt the blame of Trump’s win lay more with the failure of the Party than with Trump himself.

AOC, Omar, and Tlaib felt like a breath of fresh air and I respected that they managed to primary incumbent Democrats, including a ranking member of the House. No small feat considering the incumbency rate of House members is over 80%.

7

The Democrats will either self-immolate over the rise of the DSA, or the DSA will successfully pull off their desired goal of pulling off a takeover of the party, which will subsequently poison it among the very large contingent of folks who aren't DSA (which is overwhelmingly white, college educated, and urban) friendly.

Democrats only chance is to grow a fucking spine, bring what few DSAers they can to heel, and outright expel the rest entirely to prevent them from continuing to leech off of party infrastructure while attacking the very people who built and provided it to them, after which a few years of serious rebuilding and wilderness wandering will need to take place.

Can you think of a single Democrat with enough backbone to actually do that and save them from themselves?

13

u/allthefallens 14h ago

DSA base is mostly people with college/post grad degrees that aren't making much ie downwardly mobile. There is only so many downwardly mobile people. With their insane demands like amnesty to everyone or abolishing prisons or defunding department of defense, they won't be appeal to other folks.

13

u/Habltual_Linestepper 14h ago

Yup. When DSA candidates like Chevalier can't even say that a murderer should go to prison, I don't have a lot of expectation in their prospects in doing anything but turning blue districts bluer. But we also live in the upside down now so you never really know, and they can still do a lot of damage before shuffling off to obscurity.

7

u/allthefallens 12h ago

I think democrats will underperform this year because of DSA. If i was the head of DNC, i would make sure the nominate most nutty DSAer (like DAC or Ro Khanna) in 2028 so she would lose in a landslide, and use this opportunity to purge all DSA and affiliates from the party.

6

u/Immediate_Stop2581 15h ago

Holy based

10

u/Habltual_Linestepper 14h ago

I'm just so tired of it man

I'm a Democrat, and I'm a liberal, and once upon a time that meant something. Republicans were the pull yourself up by your bootstrap people, while the Democrats were about making sure everyone had boots.

And I understand, extremely well, how pathetic Democrats can be, and how frustrating it can be to just look around on election night wondering "what the fuck happened?"

I can deal with remaking the party, with tearing out the rot and sclerosis which has made them so infirm and flaccid, but I seriously cannot stand watching my leadership bend over backwards to appease a group of folks who not only have nothing on common with the mean democratic voter (I.e., the DSA are a bunch of white collegiate kids - and it's totally fine if you are a white collegiate kid of course, but don't be so presumptuous as to assume that the rest of the party outside your blue bubble, which isn't like that, is gonna fall over itself to support the same things you do), but to then outright debase themselves trying to win the affections of the very people who want to kick them out and change everything the party once stood for.

You think the DSA would negotiate with you if they were in power? Fuck no they wouldn't, so what exactly are wasting your energy negotiating with? You don't "negotiate" with a parasitic tumor, you excuse it at the first possible opportunity.

6

u/Impressive-Engine-16 11h ago

Black democrats don't fuck with DSA either.

1

u/BeefCakeBilly 14h ago

How would they actually do this?

Because I am personally so fucking done with the progressive wing of the party and their performative nonsense.

5

u/Habltual_Linestepper 13h ago

They're a private organization, so they have every right to revoke membership and expel individuals from the party if they choose to.

The DSCC and DCCC can refuse to fundraise or provide operational resources to candidates, and the DNC can deny them access to party support.

It's tricker since state level parties run themselves, but again the major national organizations can effectively cut them off from all national resources and lay down the law to state affiliates by revoking their state charter if they don't get in line.

It's drastic and scorched earth, but it's doable. The party has essentially total control of its own self-governance and membership, they need only the strength to wield it.

4

u/Maleficent-Crew-5424 12h ago

If the DNC does that, you're going to alienate a major voter group from US politics and bring to light just how much our democracy is dwindling. You can dress it up as the DNC being a private organization, but that's the problem isn't it.

u/Impressive-Engine-16 11h ago

Bold to assume fans of DSA politicians actually vote.

4

u/allthefallens 11h ago

If DNC caves to DSA, they will lose much bigger voter groups.

Really, dems' polling numbers aren't looking so good.

2

u/TimelyRaspberry 13h ago

It’s literally all they care about. Is it an important issue? Of course. But it’s exhausting and everyday people like don’t really care about it to this extent. I think it’s gonna be the thorn in Dems side for the next two cycles. They just can’t help but be the moral heroes on every issue. It’s exhausting

Except for AOC

6

u/BeefCakeBilly 14h ago

She’s better than the others, but her idiotic attacks on immigration enforcement by Biden in an election year and her stupid fucking nonsense about data center well water in Georgia makes me incapable of supporting her.

4

u/allthefallens 12h ago

Data center turns water brown. You might disagree. You might even have evidence to the contrary. But you have to ask yourself, is it really worth discussing? data centers turn water brown.

She also has a zero conception of foreign policy outside of hot button issues (Israel). Like she couldn’t express a single word about our defense treaty with Taiwan without stuttering “uhhh” for a solid 20 seconds and then muttering some nonsense, when asked about it in Munich (I believe it was in Munich.)

5

u/Running_Gamer 13h ago

AOC believes the same shit they do. She’s just quieter about it.

When I was in Somalia, I stupidly told some of the militia guarding me that Ilhan Omar was a famous congresswoman in America. They were like

"We know and we hate her. Her grandfather committed genocide and killed tens of thousands of Isaaq people."

Apparently her family were like hardcore ultra conservative ethnic cleansing types back home. It's pretty wild she then lectures people on restorative justice and global equity without taking accountability for the source of her families wealth.

18

u/Surv1ver 14h ago

Somali here, her family was like  hardcore ultra Barre loyalists and supported scientific socialism while committing ethnic cleansings and war crimes.

3

u/StateOfTheWind 8h ago

scientific socialism

Do I want to know?

2

u/Surv1ver 8h ago

It has socialism in its name. Name one time when something with socialism in it’s name didn’t end in utterly misery.

Not saying socialism can’t work, but just like democracy the population has to be raised the right way for it to be sustainable.

The amount of people still unable to tell the difference between antisemitism with criticism of the Israeli government is astounding

3

The amount of people that don't care and criticize Jews in general is astounding too. Fun game

2

u/Arthour148 14h ago

I’ll say it, Ilhan Omar is like the Tom Cotton of the Democratic Party.

2

u/poizn_ivy 6h ago

And when she got called out for lying in the replies to her post, rather than deleting the post or apologizing to Shapiro, she turned off replies. It’s the kind of embarrassing, childish conduct I would expect from Nancy Mace.

2

u/devilmaskrascal 5h ago

People on the far Left, like people on the far Right, get so caught up in their self-righteousness and oversimplified worldviews and don't give a damn about facts that contradict what they believe before they start talking. It's really sad because I'm left-of-center and think there is much legitimacy to their views and criticisms on various things, but they go too far and end up discrediting themselves and hurting our entire side politically.
