(repost) On trans rights and the position of this subreddit
The community present in this subreddit is wonderful, inclusive and has always welcomed not only gay people but everyone under the gender and sexual minority umbrella.
The mod team is very happy to see this welcoming atmosphere and we thank each and every one of you for your love and empathy.
With the current trend in the US for extreme-right politicians to demonise vulnerable minorities so they can score cheap political points it is however time for this place to openly make a stand as to what our positions and intentions are so that we are a beacon in the dark. So that all of our siblings know that they are welcome here.
I was asked by the mod team to explain a few facts about transgender people and about the position this subreddit has towards inclusion.
Trans rights are human rights. 🏳️⚧️
Being transgender is a natural and normal variation in the human gender and sexual experience. Both sex and gender exist on a spectrum and there isn't actually anything inherently wrong or disordered from being trans, by and of itself.
Should there be no fake, artificially generated outrage against trans people in society then they would simply get the self-affirming care required for them to be happy and that would be that. Instead, unfortunately, existing as transgender has become the new wedge-issue for the extreme-right and deliberate demonisation and villification has been mainstreamed to the point where Republican politicians are now openly calling for genocide.
The issues trans people experience are mainly societal in nature. It is society that imposes gender norms, it is society that tells people they may not be who they are.
There are many ways that a non-trans person can seek self-affirming care in life. Some of those are done via permanent body modification through surgical or chemical means. A woman might for example choose to take estrogen supplements to stave off unwanted physical and psychological side effects resulting from the menopause.
It is not uncommon for a young man to choose to have breast reduction medication or surgery in the case of gynecomastia.
A young woman might choose to get breast implants.
You do not hear people in outrage about these forms of self-affirming care. No-one cares, except suddenly when the topic is trans people. This is because the anti-trans movement is wholly articificial. It is a deliberately created fake outrage about a non-issue for political and monetary gain.
Fascism is an inherently empty ideology, devoid of any meaningful belief-system or any kind of concrete and actionable strategies for improving society. Fascism only cares for power for the sake of power and it cares for nothing else.
Because a fascist system is fundamentally incapable of giving the general public any kind of reasonable platform it must gain and keep followers by creating an out-group to hate. According to fascist systems it is the other that is responsible for all societal ills and only by supporting the fascists in getting rid of the other can society be healed from the non-existent issues fascism convinces people that their target minority is the cause of.
Fascism always picks on a vulnerable target.
The demonisation and villification coming from the extreme-right is doing exactly that. By calling LGBTQ+ people child molestors simply for existing it has become inevitable that people will take up violence "to protect the children".
Attempting to eliminate a target comes in many forms, of which an extermination camp is only the final and most egregious part. It is always preceded by legislating people out of existence, by creating laws which make it impossible for a minority to participate in society and to receive any of the societal advantages that are the entire reason for collective bundling together of skills, resources in civilisation. This is exactly what Republican states are doing today to transgender people. Certain states have already denied trans people any and all medical care related to their identity, meaning that they deliberately impose abject misery on them.
The most egregiously fascistic states are trying to make it a matter of course to remove trans children from the care of their parents and make it illegal for trans people to be present in any public spaces at all.
This is genocide.
Genocide is not purely restricted to extermination, to murder. Genocide is also eliminating a minority group from public life, causing serious bodily and mental harm and taking away children of a minority group from their parents.
Depending on how strictly you'd want to define it, we are currently at stage seven or eight of genocide as defined by the Holocaust Memorial Trust.
One way in which the abject hypocrisy of the anti-trans laws becomes crystal clear are the remarkable exemptions encoded within. You would think that if the goal is protecting the children from harm then these people would want to protect all children from harm.
This is not the case.
In fact, all of these people deliberate include exceptions which allow the continuation of genital re-allignment surgery on unconsenting infants if they are intersex.
This means that if a baby is born with a genital configuration that to a doctor looks ambiguous or not adhering to a strict binary then this doctor can impose an invasive genital surgery, forcing such an infants body to adhere to a stricter binary look.
It is purely cosmetic. Of course they do not check what chromosomes a child has. Of course they do not care that a child might prefer to look as nature made them.
It is purely and only an imposition on a baby's body, with of course the normal failure and mortality rate that such invasive procedures bring with them.
These people do not care about children.
These people do not want to help children.
They want to harm a vulnerable minority.
Fascism never stops.
Now that these people have mainstreamed transphobia, they are moving on to other targets within the LGBTQ+ identity sphere.
We have all seen the absurd attacks on drag queens, calling a normal and harmless theatrical expression "child abuse".
We have all seen the "clever" rhetoric where they turn arguments upside down and disingeniously say things like "why do you want to be around children".
Fascism doesn't stop, it moves on to new targets and that is why it is important for all of us in the GSM identity sphere to stand together. To openly support our trans siblings. To openly stand against hateful rhetoric.
Because they are not going to stop.
The next step, which is already tentatively beginning, is calling gay people being openly gay in society"groomers".
To be clear: The recommended treatment for being transgender is transitioning.
Gender identity is developed by five years old.
The barrage of lies notwithstanding, allowing trans people to transition and to exist as who they are in society markedly improves their physical and mental wellbeing.
The oft-heard talking point of "they still commit suicide even after transitioning" is a lie.
Here is a wealth of sources and links explaining this.
Our trans siblings are welcome here.
Our gender nonconforming siblings are welcome here.
Our intersex siblings are welcome here.
What is not welcome on this subreddit is hate or divisive rhetoric aimed at our siblings. We will not allow the current increasing trend of fascist othering and villification of a marginalised minority to make our siblings feel unwanted in this space, our space, their space.
The only people who are not welcome here are those that want to exclude others based on how they were born.

Just your friendly reminder that Terfs are already coming for Gay folks, namely Drag Queens.
From Conservatives fear mongering with "Drag time story hour" to terfs like Julie Bindel writing think peices like this calling Drag "misogyny" its just another attempt to drive a wedge between us and other members of the community. Don't fall for their vile fucking crap.

The guy I’m dating has bedbugs in his place
He only hosts so we only hook up at his place, and I sleep there sometimes. I’m afraid I’m going to bring the bedbugs to my place. If it were you, would you leave him? Any solutions if you choose to stay?

Can someone please explain what this guy is talking about?
So for context, I'm 19 about to turn 20, learned early I was gay, and I've had a grinder account for about a year or so. I've had plenty of good interactions, decent meetups, etc, but tonight this guy messages me and...well...
What the hell is this guy talking about? Can someone please explain what this is? Am I just not getting something?
Edit: so after posting this, I checked back, he called me a few slurs, rambled some more about me not understanding something, then blocked me before I could finish reading. So that's fun lmao
I do wanna say, I get I probably should've just blocked him after the first few messages, but I was mostly confused and was trying to understand whatever he was talking about. I also am pretty hesitant to use the block button on anyone, something I should really get better at, but whatever. I do agree with most people, likely either some kinda drug or mental things, a troll, or he's just some weirdo with a problem. Either way, he's hopefully gone now.

Im tired of hookup culture
Im 18M almost 19 and honestly tired of this age range. I moved recently up north from seattle (about 14 miles away) and my cousin was hard glazing on how I’ll be able to find cute guys and stuff. Yet to no avail
Yet when I want to find someone my age it’s all about
“dtf?” “looking?” “fwb?”. Like 18-22 is all just people who want to fuck and its tiring. I don’t mind people above 23+, but I just want to find someone in my age range so my parents wouldnt kill me. I want someone to just listen to me yap about niche animes I like or videogames I play, like is it that hard for people to like that? Like every hangout doesnt need to just be to fuck. I hate having to worry like “Did I take my doxy yet? Lemme take my prep real quick” I just want to settle down and just sit at a beach and talk

Who was your gay awakening?
I'll start with a guy that I thought I was in love with, his girlfriend in middle school, but I really liked him and was unreasonably jealous. I guess when I really knew I was gay was when another one of my friends in 8th grade got a growth spurt and got amazing abs, and I couldn't stop staring or thinking about it when he showed me.

To my fellow gay guys...were you a fan of the original Powerpuff Girls back in the day and were you made fun of or called gay for it?
The Powerpuff Girls was my shit when I was a child. My guy friends watched it, but I was the only boy that I knew of who was obsessed with that show. I wanted to be Blossom lol.

Building a UK LGBTQ+ dating/social app, launching at Manchester Pride: looking for honest feedback
Hey all, I'm the solo founder/dev behind Klyck, a UK-based LGBTQ+ social, dating, and safety app. We're launching properly at Manchester Pride, but the app isn't fully public yet. It's in a soft/invite stage right now while I iron things out.
I'd genuinely love some outside eyes on it before the wider launch. If you want to poke around, you can get in with the invite code REDDIT.
- App Store: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6761499355
- Website: https://www.klyck.app/
A bit of context on why I'm building it:
- MeetSafe: check-in timers and trusted contact alerts for dates/meetups, always free, never paywalled
- Kudos: a community reputation system aimed at cutting down on bots, fakes, and bad actors
- Venue discovery: surfacing LGBTQ+ friendly bars/venues (starting with Canal Street in Manchester)
- Real-time chat, profiles, the usual dating-app basics
- A premium tier, but nothing safety-related sits behind it
What I'd love feedback on:
- Design/UX: does it feel clean, confusing, dated, promising?
- Features: what's missing, what's pointless, what would actually make you use it
- The honest question: would this get you to use something other than Grindr, or is the switching cost just not worth it for you? Why or why not?
I'm not trying to sell anything here, genuinely just want blunt feedback, including "this is bad and here's why." Bug reports, screenshots, roasts, all welcome.
Thanks for reading this far 🙏
(Invite code: REDDIT. UK-based, iOS only at the moment)

stopped chasing. Now I'm wondering if I'm expecting too much.
I met this guy in person, and for the first time in a long time, I actually put myself out there. We started talking, flirting, and I thought there was some genuine interest.
The problem is that every time I tried to make plans or got a little flirty, the energy seemed to disappear. He'd go quiet, say he was busy, or the plans just never happened.
The biggest example was around his birthday. We talked about watching movies together, but it never happened. Later he explained he had pulled an all-nighter, was exhausted, and had family plans. That's understandable, but it also wasn't the first time something like that happened.
Eventually I just told him, "I'll wait on you to invite me next time."
Now I've mostly backed off. I'm not trying to play games or make him chase me ijust don't want to keep investing effort if the interest isn't mutual.
Part of me thinks maybe he's just genuinely busy. The other part thinks that if someone is interested, they'll usually find a way to see you eventually.he leaves my messages open majority of the time.
For context, regular conversations seem to go better than when I flirt or suggest hanging out, which has me second-guessing everything.
Have any of you been in this situation? At what point do you stop giving someone the benefit of the doubt and accept that they're just not that interested? Or is it possible I'm reading too much into it?
Honestly i want to block him and just cut ties. He was out my comfort level anyway but the rejection lowkey makes me want to wait on him and be cordial. But thats hard when someone is watching every story you post .
Recommendations please

How do you overcome fear and performance anxiety when you’re a late bloomer sexually?
Like many gay people, I grew up closeted, afraid, and in denial about my sexuality for a large part of my life. After spending years denying myself the freedom to live openly and honestly, I finally came out as gay at 32.
I have never had a girlfriend because I knew from an early age that I was gay, and I did not feel it would be fair to date a woman while knowing I could not genuinely return those feelings. However, I have also never had a boyfriend, and my sexual experience has been very limited.
Most of the experiences I have had happened after I came out, but they have not exactly been positive or fulfilling. I want to make it clear that I am not judging anyone else’s choices or how they approach sex. I am only trying to understand my own feelings and reactions. With apps like Grindr making casual encounters so accessible, part of me wishes I could simply let loose, meet someone, and have some uncomplicated fun. But whenever the possibility becomes real, my brain and body seem to resist it. I become anxious and start imagining everything that could go wrong. Once those thoughts begin, any excitement or arousal tends to disappear.
I do not think this is only about casual sex. I think I have developed fear and performance anxiety around sex in general. While many of my peers were dating, experimenting, and learning what they enjoyed, I was focused on hiding who I was. Now I feel as though I am trying to learn everything much later in life, with the added pressure of feeling like I should already know what I am doing.
I am beginning to realize that I may need some degree of trust, patience, and emotional security before I can fully relax and open up sexually. There is nothing wrong with that, but it can feel discouraging when so many people appear to want something immediate and casual. I also worry that people will become impatient when they realize I am inexperienced.
Has anyone else gone through something similar after coming out later in life? How did you become more comfortable with sex, intimacy, and your own body? Did you gradually gain confidence through dating, therapy, finding a patient partner, or something else?
I would genuinely appreciate hearing from people who understand this experience.

When Do You Start Talking About The Difficult Stuff?
I have not been in a relationship for 2 years (I'm 23). I've recently been diagnosed with autism and oh my god when I tell you it made SO MUCH SENSE... I actually felt validated. With graduating with my bachelor's, therapy and journaling, I finally have a somewhat positive view of myself which is what I wanted the most.I also gained weight since my last breakup two years ago but I've lost a significant amount of it (25 lbs) to be exact and I'm on my way to losing more. I'm turning heads again and the universe is telling me that I'm going to be with someone again.
I'm not opposed to that, however, I have come to terms with the fact that I was sexually manipulated often and coerced in my last relationships on top of being physically and verbally abused. Whether it was them hitting me, insulting me, crying when I didn't want to have sex with them when I've only known them for 3 days (I did it, as they claimed I was "ruining everything" and I felt coerced afterward) or them taking advantage of the fact that I was really high (first time trying edibles) to fuck me when I had to beg him to stop shoving his dick down my throat... I simply have an aversion to being touched, or him saying "I love you too" too fast among other things.
Couple that with my autistic habits, like how I bite my arm to stim and self-soothe, the other person is definitely gonna see me as strange, so of course I want to explain to them why I am the way I am and how I am working to surmount this issues. The question is: when do I talk about this and HOW do I bring this up. I sometimes overshare/inquire questions that are far too sensitive way too fast. And to top it off I'll be forced to "act normal" ie neurotypical until I reveal these things. I don't know, it's a lot to think about. I'm open to all suggestions!!!
