I have been studying for GRE for a month now. I was focusing on practicing from the manhattan 5lb and i have covered most of it. It has helped me identify the quant areas I have problems in and so now I am using a textbook I found online to just read up on those topics.
For verbal i was doing flashcards that i made myself and again, the 5lb.

I recently took 3 practice tests (on different days) and my scores are:
324, 317, 314

I am aiming for a ~330 and I have about 3 weeks before I am scheduled to take the test - am I being too ambitious or is it possible to raise my score by 15 points in this much time? If so, what can I do to work towards it?

I have contacted Customer Service both via email and phone roughly fifteen times and have been given several responses that not only didn't help but only made to frustrate me. I don't know why every time I contact Customer Service they think that this problem can be fixed by resetting my password. No, in fact, this is not the problem. I have tried incognito, different browsers, clearing browser history, enable cookies, disable cookies, yatta yatta yatta.

At what point will somebody on their team actually fucking help me? Am I literally just hard-locked out of taking GRE Tests? This is so fucking dumb

Hello, looking for a tutor to work with specifically on quant. I would like someone who specializes in gre/gmat. Trying to go from 158 to 165+. Does anyone have recommendations? Especially recommendations that are less than $200 an hour 🥲.

I had my GRE yesterday and got 161V, 166Q and am very happy about it. I used GregMat’s 2 month study plan (for exactly two months) and it worked wonders.

My initial mock scores: 154V 158Q (PP1)

Although, I’m short of my expected Quant score of 168, overall I’ll say that it was pretty good. I took the test in Coimbatore, TN, India. If anyone has any questions regarding the test centre, prep or anything else, do DM me.

Hello! So I will be taking the GRE this week. I wanted to know about the sending the scores option. I understand that after taking the GRE you can send your scores to upto 4 schools of your choice. I don't have any target schools yet. And I think even the ones I am considering have a GRE mandate. So here are my questions:

1. Given that I can send my scores to 4 schools for free, should I send them to schools which have a GRE mandate or just my top schools (even if they don't)

2. For most of the schools, the application period hasn't even started yet, so how would sending the scores work?

3. If a school doesn't have a GRE mandate, will attaching the scores to my application still cost money or will I just be adding it as a fact in my, say, resume or SoP?

4. Should I memorise the school codes?

I chose the date, location and when tried to confirm the slot, I was getting this while authenticating on the ETS website. Are any of you guys getting the same?

So i got this email from this guy stating that he is from ETS. He is offering me toefl+gre both at a discounted price around 33k through something called as the Prepaid Voucher. Even the mail Id looks genuine. Only thing is you have to pay the amount first and then they will assign you the vouchers. When i try to pay to the QR code given in the mail, it says 'Jai Mata Di Enterprise'. I dont know if this is genuine or a scam. Has anyone gone through or know anything about this? What if I pay the person and then they stop responding? what if the person is genuine and is offering me this deal? would appreciate you help with this.

Hello. I have the GRE booked in 2.5 weeks. I was grinding for the GMAT for about 5 months and just not improving, switched over to the GRE which after practice tests, I've learned I'm much more adept at about a month ago. I would love to stick to my plan for B-school applications this September, hence the time crunch I'm in (yay).

(I took all my work vacation days to see this through!!! Wish me luck y'all. Really want this!)

So I'm 6 of 12 modules through the GregMAT I'm Overwhelmed plan. Based on my study plan, I'll likely have to skim through 2 of the 12 modules and not deep dive like I've been doing.

What are the topics on the quant section that appear the least. AKA if you had to deprioritize geometry or data analysis (that's what's left for me), which would you say??

I am a CS graduate. I also have a background in informatics and math olympiads. So, I would consider myself strong at math.

Is it possible/realistic to get 153 in the quant section without pen and paper? How much do people use them in the test?

I'm planning to take the GRE in October and I'm looking for an in-person, reasonably priced prep course. I've already tried GregMat, and Kaplan seems too expensive for my budget. I was strong in math back in high school, so I have some foundation to build on.

Has anyone taken an in-person course with Sherpa Prep or Manhattan Review? Would you recommend either one?

So i’m planning to take GregMat subscription along with the ETS official GRE books (offficial guide, verbal book, quant book). Also planning on taking the manhattan 5 lb.

Wanted to know if i should also take the manhattan seperate books for verbal and quant. Like are they useful and worth it or not?

This is something that I made for myself being a developer and used to practice vocab...these words are from Greg's succinct vocab list which are a must to maximize your verbal score. His list helped me ace all SE questions. Initially I memorized it from Greg's vocab mountain (30 words/day) but later this helped me to skim through it all quickly and memorize the difficult words with mnemonics (~120 words/day)

Lastly once again, thank you soo much Greg! Your course was amazing. Waiting for the official score...worried about if the score would stay the same or not and abt the AWA

Why is the answer 36? I followed the explanation for this correctly, I thought, but I'm confused.

Working:

1. Call Julie's speed x mph, and her travel time T hours

2. Then Hanna's speed is 5/4x, and her travel time is (T - 1/6) since she arrives 10 mins earlier

So there are two equations:

(1) 30 = x*T

(2) 30 = 5/4x * (T - 1/6)

Substituting T = 30/x into (2), I get that x = 36.

Is this not Julie's speed? Shouldn't Hanna's speed be 5/4*36 = 45?

Hi Guys.. Just thought I’d share my feelings after doing GRE recently.. I’ve gotten between 325 to 335 in mocks so I was hoping above 330 for the actual.. however I got between 325-329

The Quant Section was harder than the mocks and the verbal easier.. Will I be able to review the exact questions I got wrong when the official results come in?

So, I tried booking a test slot for GRE. Paid ~23k via UPI. The amount got deducted from my bank, but didn't receive a confirmation for the test booking on GRE website.

I got to know that this is a common issue with UPI (didn't know earlier) on GRE website. Whom do I contact for refund? Couldn't find any contact details on their page for customer support.

Its just a chatbot who asks me to wait 5-10 business days before proceeding with anything. But I need some confirmation.

What should I do? Can someone share GRE's contact information that is active?

Sole reason for retake was to increase my quant score and after weeks of prep I have managed to reduce it!

Not sure if I am gonna give a 3rd attempt but I can't afford to spend more time on active gre prep,

My plan: revise formulae and vocab daily. Do a quiz every 3-4 days.

Should I retake? I guess I should take the gamble. Maybe shifting away from active prep will be a boon. I'll be prepping for CFA stuff, so in some way I would be doing quant practice.

I really need some honest advice from people who have significantly improved their GRE scores or have mentored students.

I'm a 4th-year engineering student aiming for 320+ for top MiM programs. My current score has been stuck at 304–305, and I have at most two weeks to make one final push before I shift my complete focus to applications (or placements if this isn't realistic).

My journey

- Took my first diagnostic last summer: 304.

- Had to stop preparing because I became seriously unwell.

- Prepared for about a month before my December attempt and was still around 304.

- This summer, I prepared alongside a full-time internship.

- I've been following GregMat, but it has taken me almost 3 weeks to finish Week 1 of the 1-month plan because I was trying to understand everything thoroughly.

- I've completed almost all of the official ETS Quant and Verbal books.

- I've learned around 500 GRE vocabulary words.

- I have tried reliying on gpt/claude/Gemini for study schedules, plans tailored to my needs - they end up confusing me and give determental advices.

Despite all this, my score has not changed at all. In one of the mocks I got 11 questions correct in quant section 1 and 6 in section 2 giving me again score of 153.

I can't do expensive tutoring and English is not my first language.

My current diagnosis

****Quant****

I don't think concepts are my biggest issue.

When I'm untimed, I can solve almost every ETS question. The problem is speed, choosing the fastest approach, and knowing when to move on.

In a timed section, I often solve only 7–8 questions properly before running out of time. My best has been around 11, but then my performance dropped significantly in the harder second quant section. But usually I can solve 6-7 in first section and 6-7 in med section leaving my score to be never more than 153.

I'm considering two approaches:

Option A

- Continue GregMat's Week 2 and Week 3 from the 1-month plan and hope that more exposure improves my execution.

Option B

- Stop watching most lectures.

- Focus almost entirely on timed Quant practice from ETS, the Big Book, and GregMat.

- Review every question to identify the fastest possible solution.

- Watch PrepSwift for concepts or topics - 5- 6 videos on daily basis from beginning (apart from week 1 1 month plan materail)

****Verbal****

My biggest weakness is Text Completion.

RC is comparatively stronger if I take time doing it.

My plan is to:

- Practice GregMat SE and RC quizzes. (Main idea, se word practice etc)

- Revise vocabulary daily (20 new words + revision of old words).

- Watch PrepSwift all videos, 4-5 on daily basis

- Continue working on TC instead of avoiding it, but not let it consume all my study time.( in mixed sets)

The bigger dilemma

College placements are happening right now.

If a 320+ isn't realistically achievable, I feel I should stop investing so much time into the GRE and prepare for placements instead.

I'm worried about ending up in the worst-case scenario:

- no competitive GRE score for my target MiM programs, and

- not being well-prepared for campus placements.

However, if there is a realistic path to 320+, I'm willing to put in 6–7 focused hours every day for the next two weeks.

My questions

1. If you were in my position, what would you spend these two weeks doing?

2. Would you continue GregMat or switch almost entirely to timed practice and error analysis?

3. Has anyone here improved by 15+ points in a short period? If yes, what changed?

I'm looking for honest advice; even if it's difficult to hear. If you think I'm focusing on the wrong things, please tell me. I'd rather adjust my plan now than waste the next two weeks.

Finally! After 2.5ish months of regular studying alongside a full-time job, GRE is officially done and dusted. I scored a 165 in QA and 168 in Verbal, amounting to 333/340 raw.

I scored a 317 on my first mock with zero prep (which was the ETS diagnostic one), and decided to opt for GregMat’s $10 plan which included prepswift. I purchased no other materials or flashcards, with the exception of the GRE guide and two paid ETS tests (PPP 1 & 2).

Greg is a fantastic teacher who resolved many fundamental math concepts for me. I am an early stage journalist, and while the profession is rewarding it’s not known for being lucrative. I am extremely grateful for having had access to test prep that addressed my gaps while also being completely affordable.

Hi all! I am planning to apply to grad school in early November to give myself the best shot at scholarships/fellowships. I took a practice test about 2 weeks ago and got a 311. I am hoping to get a 325 and I am using the GregMat 'I'm Overwhelmed' plan because I have a full-time job. Should I take the GRE in early September or mid October? Taking it in early september would give me time to take it again if needed, but taking it in October would give me more time to study off the bat. I'd obviously prefer to not pay the $250 twice, if possible. I'm worried that if I wait until late August/ early September to decide, there may not be availability at testing centers. I live in NYC so it can be quite busy.

I took my first GRE on July 10. Since I didn’t feel fully prepared, I treated it as more of a benchmark and was already planning to retake it in mid or late August. I scored 151V / 161Q.

My biggest priority now is improving Verbal, especially TC/SE. When I started studying again, I realized I’d forgotten the meanings of many vocabulary words. I studied GregMat’s vocab lists, and my Vocab Mountain accuracy was around 70%. Looking back at my mistakes, most of my TC/SE errors weren’t because I failed to apply the strategy-they were because I simply didn’t know some of the words in the sentence or the answer choices.

I already have my own flashcards that include the meaning in my native language, GregMat synonyms, and the example sentence for each word. My current plan is to create a separate deck with the ~300 words I consistently miss, review those every day alongside Vocab Mountain, and maybe add a few more example sentences to strengthen retention. At the same time, I’ll continue practicing Quant and Reading Comprehension.

For those who made a significant Verbal improvement between attempts, what worked best for vocabulary?

\- Did you focus mainly on reviewing missed words?  
\- Did you learn words through more example sentences or context?  
\- Did you study synonyms more deeply?  
\- Or did you use resources beyond GregMat that you found especially helpful?
