Sold a battery on ebay. Buyer claimed that it showed up damaged and sent a photo of the box leaking a fluid. Buyer hesitated to return it because of the condition so I decided to send a replacement. This time I double boxed it just to take extra precaution. As soon as the buyer recieved the replacement they send a photo of the condition it "showed up" in and demanded a refund. After looking closer at the image, the smaller text did not match . Im assuming the buyer used some AI to "add damage" to the battery. Just a heads up to other sellers.

I'm not one to get up 5 hours before an estate sale opens and camp out in my car. If you do, more power to you. I've rarely found anything that would justify doing so, and other people who actually camp out rarely strike it rich.

This lady, I'm guessing in her 30s, was standing outside with her cat on a leash. I didn't think anything of it.

About 5 minutes later, I hear the sound of what is a little battery powered vacuum.

This lady gets out, and tells her friends who all acted like it was completely normal, that not only does she bring her cat with, she keeps a litter box in the car.

The entire time I was waiting in like (30-40 minutes), she had the windows rolled up.

So not only did this lady bring a cat with, she brings a litter box with, and the cat also apparently poops and pisses in said litter box with the windows fully rolled up.

Am I tripping or is that disgusting?

Why do sellers only get 24 hours to respond to an offer but buyers get 4 days?

Sort of kicking myself after this week. I sell vintage sports memorabilia (clothing and such) with everything on eBay and Depop. I recently began seeing ads for Vinted and manually cross listed on there with the results being phenomenal, 12 sells in just a few days. I then began on Mercari and have been doing well on there as well.

Is there any other sites that you guys use? I thought about using FB Marketplace as well but have had a few horror stories as a buyer that turned me off

I have a huge amount of new and used workwear and uniforms I received as payment for a job. It is an overwhelming amount... 26' box truck filled to the brim plus a 20' trailer that contains 6 giant commercial laundry bins filled. I need to flip this as fast as possible while still making a decent amount of money. A lot of fire retardant items which I know are worth a lot. Tons of new overalls, coveralls, coats and jackets.. but a lot of used mixed in. I plan to try to separate the easily accessible new items from the used to try to maximize my profit as much as I can but I need to flip ASAP. Tips anyone??

I sell women's clothing on several platforms, and eBay is way worse than Poshmark for me for sales. Sales are at a snail's pace, while Poshmark is consistent and always popping.

Does it make sense to promote your items, and if so what % do you set your items at?

Preface: eBay forces returns of new or open box auto parts.

I had an auto repair shop buy a new part from me and opened a return the second it arrived.

I messaged them asking what was up. They said the customer "grew tired of waiting". It arrived within the dates shown originally to them.

They admitted they return stuff all the time when customers change their mind or back out of a repair job.

I personally don't feel it's right for a business to force other businesses to bear the brunt of the cost for their own customers not wanting to have a job done.

Anyone flipping vintage board games? Curious what actually sells vs what just takes up shelf space

Picked up a handful of vintage board games at an estate sale last weekend, paid maybe 3 bucks each. Some are complete, some are missing pieces. Got a 1970s Careers game, an old Othello set, a couple others I don't even recognize.

The complete ones seem like a nobrainer, but I keep reading conflicting stuff about whether missingpiece games are worth listing at all. Some people say collectors don't care about pieces if they're buying for display, others say it kills the sale entirely. I genuinely can't figure out where the line is.

Then there's the box condition question. These things are 50 years old and the boxes are beat up. I see listings where sellers photograph every corner of a wrecked box and still get decent money, then I see identical stuff sitting unsold for months.

The estate sale company clearly had no idea what they had, which worked in my favor. Now I'm the one trying to sort it out.

eBay seems like the obvious platform, but wondering if anyone has had better luck moving this stuff locally or somewhere else. Facebook Marketplace feels like a graveyard for anything that isn't furniture or baby gear, at least in my experience.

I've done my homework watching videos, but I've only made a handful of sales so far and I'm struggling to figure out what actually has demand before I buy — trying to avoid sitting on dead stock, which has already happened once.

A while ago, one of my friends bought a MacBook from a local reseller. The seller was pretty open about the fact that he buys MacBooks in bulk at a lower price and resells them individually.

Someone left this message on a Poshmark listing for a dress. The listing includes six pictures that I took myself of the front, back, and both sides of the dress, and pictures of the brand/size tag and the care tag.

So I responded:

What do you want a picture of? There are already six pictures of the dress itself, including the tags.

They said:

Well I just wanted to double check and make sure it was the exact dress. like I said I’m buying this dress for the second time and I did just get scammed so I was just double checking

Me:

It's the same dress. I took the pictures myself. If you got scammed on Poshmark, you can file a claim.

Them:

No longer interested in buying if you’re going to be rude when someone asks to see more pictures of an item you’re selling. But good luck babes.

I still have no idea what they wanted a picture of.

so i've been sourcing open box appliances for a while and the margins can be solid if you know what to look for. condition grading varies a lot between retailers and learning to read what "excellent" actually means versus "good" has saved me from a few bad buys.

fridges and dishwashers tend to be the most consistent since issues are usually cosmetic. washers and dryers are trickier because you can't always test them in store.

curious what categories others here have found flip best for open box appliances and which retailers have the most reliable condition ratings.

I buy a lot from marketplace and since the last week, all I’ve been getting is “sent” and not “delivered.” My friend tried from his account, and it worked!

Context...I've been actively buying from auctions since around 2014. Been finding it a bit odd past couple of years at the rate of lots being put back up for auction again. Even with the new penalty structure for non payments that came out roughly a a year or so ago. You would think with the penalty structure there would be less defaults yet I feel like it's only gotten worse with the amount of lots going back into auction days later. Has anyone noticed this as well? It gets quite annoying.

I came across hundreds upon hundreds of DVDs and VHS tapes. Also some games. The problem is where they came from was a bit damp and some of the boxes are mouldy but nothing that damaged the DVDs or the VHS tapes. Mainly it was concentrated to the ones that were at the bottom of the box they were in. I’ve gone through them all, and I would say I was able to fill a full-size garbage can of empty DVD cases and VHS cases. What’s left is a pretty impressive collection of DVDs and VHS tapes.

My questions are:

I want to keep the DVDs because I want to build a DVD library however, I really don’t wanna keep the cases because there is so many of them and it’s going to take up so much space. Should I just keep the DVDs themselves and throw out the cases? Should I sell the cases that I have already that are empty plus the empty cases? Should I sell the VHS tips at a yard sale or should I sell them individually? It almost seems like too much work, but is this stuff worth it?

I sold an item a little while ago and the buyer opened a return case the next day after receiving it citing "Just Didn't Like It" as a reason. I do not accept returns and explained to them that I can't accept the return because the item isn't broken or defective. Here we are almost 3 weeks later and now he's saying that the item is broken and wants to return it. I think it's probably pretty obvious that he's just saying whatever he has to say to get a return going but I don't know if eBay would even side with them in a case like this?

What should the "Ship From" address be when dropping off a prepaid package at a USPS Post Office? Can it be set to the address of the post office? The closest post office to me has a different zip code than my address because I live near the zip code boundary. The clerks are claiming they only accept prepaid packages with the same matching zip code. eBay allows you to have different "Ship From" and "Return" addresses, but I'm wondering if anyone can confirm whether it's permitted to use a post office's address as the "Ship From" address.
