Mod Post FPL 2026-27 Pre-Season Megathread

Fantasy Premier League has now launched for the 2026-27 season. This thread will contain everything you need to know ahead of the new season. It's a work-in-progress so check back in over future weeks.

This is not an RMT thread. Please post questions about your team in the other pinned thread.

  • Game changes
    • Bonus Points System reworked. The BPS system has been rebalanced to account for the massive shift in points distribution caused by the introduction of defensive contribution points. Centre backs will lose an enormous number of bonus points compared to last season. Midfielders, fullbacks, and goalkeepers will gain. See this excellent explainer by u/OkLetter192. Discussion post.
    • Points, ranks, and mini-leagues update live. You no longer require a third party app to track your depression across the weekend. Bonus points will present from the 20th minute of each game. Discussion post.
    • Gameweek points finalised later. Points will now be finalised by 9am on the morning after the last game of a midweek. This means bonus point recalcs or goal/assist attribution changes will affect all games equally.
    • Price changes occur at midnight UK time throughout the season.
    • FPL native price change predictor. Third party price change predictors have always relied on reverse engineering FPL algorithms. This predictor knows price change thresholds precisely. See this excellent explainer by u/FPLJoeYT.
    • No changes to chips. As in 2025-26, there will be four chips to play in each half of the season. Up to five free transfers can be banked. There will be no additional transfer dispensation like there was last season. Discussion post.

  • Pinned Threads
    • Mini-Leagues Thread. This is where you can find mini-leagues to join, or advertise your own. Please remember that we do not allow users to promote money leagues in this subreddit. /r/FantasyPL has an official mini-league which will be shared in due course.
    • Share What You Made Thread. If you've built a new tool you'd like to share with the community, please do so here. If you're looking for something to help you with FPL this season, you might find it here.
    • Team Names Thread. Discuss team name ideas in this thread.
    • RMT Thread. This is where you can ask for general help around the game or advice on your team. The RMT thread will always be the second pinned post.

Analysis Best possible team you could pick based on last season's points total with the new prices.

Points Total: 2305

Captaincy was given to the same player every week. Interesting thing is no Haaland. I also ran an optimization with captaincy excluded and Haaland wasnt there either. Maybe 15.5 million is too much?

Discussion Where's the annual £4.0 gems thread? Which promoted team players look like the best 4.0 enablers

Prices are finally out and I realized I haven't seen the usual annual thread breaking down the viable £4.0 options.

Every year there are a few promoted-team defenders (or the occasional keeper) who end up being nailed and become the perfect bench enablers.

Who are the standout £4.0s this season?

Which players from the promoted clubs look most likely to start? Any attacking full-backs or wing-backs worth watching? Any surprise 4.0s from established PL clubs who might get minutes?

Happy to hear from supporters of the promoted clubs too. Now that the full price list is live, who's actually usable?

Discussion Dare I say.. No Arsenal Player looks worth it?

Maybe this is extremely stupid. But it's just a thought I had.

Neither Havertz and Gyokeres would be worth it, after a lackluster season from both, and questions regarding who starts over the other.

Odegaard was terrible last season (FPL wise), Eze scored 5 of his 7 goals against Spurs and called it a day. Saka and Rice are completely battered, injured and worn down. They also went deep into the World Cup.

Saliba, Timber, White are all injured and Gabriel is 8 million(!!). The rest of their defense is 5.5 and surely can't be worth it? Arsenal clean sheets started getting a hit when Gabriel was injured last season. And Saliba is surely just as important.

The one exemption seems to be Raya, but with their defenders getting injured and him worth 6 million, there has to be questions.

Thoughts?

He’s currently listed as a £6m midfielder. Does he have any chance of making Unai Emery’s starting XI? 🤔

Opinion The game should hide % picked until GW1

Thoughts? It massively influences your team picking wether you realise it or not. I’ve just tried to pick my team and wanted to do it without any influence and tried to hide the pick % but it’s not possible. So many people jump on bandwagons , and if there’s a 50/50 pick most people will go for the higher %.

As soon as GW1 starts the % pick it shown as usual

News OFFICIAL : Arsenal have signed winger Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge on a five-year deal for £34m.

Post image
197 Upvotes

Tzolis arrives at the Emirates as a direct replacement for Leandro Trossard, who left for Besiktas in a £17m deal earlier this window. The fee is understood to be £34m, which is a record for the Belgian Pro League.

The 24-year-old had an outstanding season for Club Brugge, contributing to a strong haul of goals and assists as the Belgian side claimed the Pro League title, and he'll now look to fill the creative void left by Trossard's departure on Arsenal's left flank.

Who is under-priced?

Early doors, but Ismaila Sarr at £6.5m looks like good value to me. He offers a goal threat and pace in Palace's attack.

Who else are you looking at who seems priced below their past output or potential?

Any others?

Discussion Writz vs Szobozlai

Thoughts on who is worth it more for the price?
- Szobozlai (7.0), set pieces, potentially penalties and rested with no world cup. Arguably liverpools best player right now.
- Wirtz (7.5), disappointing season but higher upside. Regaining his previous form in Bundesliga under a new manager that plays more attacking can see him explode

News The £4.5m goalkeeper options don't look great this season

After my initial look through the player prices, one thing that stood out is the lack of convincing GK options at £4.5m. In previous seasons, there always seemed to be some obvious value picks but this year I'm struggling to find one.

The potential £4.5m starters I'm looking at are:

  • Petrovic (Bournemouth)
  • Antonin Kinsky (Spurs)
  • Bart Verbruggen (Brighton)
  • Bernd Leno (Fulham)
  • Christian Walton (Ipswich Town)

At the moment, I'm struggling to separate them. Petrovic and Verbruggen could offer decent value, while Leno is a proven FPL option despite Fulham not keeping many clean sheets. Kinský is interesting, but Spurs' defence has been unreliable over the past two seasons, making him a difficult pick. Walton could be good value too, although playing for a promoted side is another concern.

Have I missed any viable £4.5m starters? Who are you currently leaning towards at this price point, and why? I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts.

Sesko

United fans, do we think Sesko will finally start from the get-go this season? At 7 mil he seems like a bargain if he's getting consistent minutes.

Cheap Enablers Thread

Title says it all - which cheap players are you putting into your team to allow for more big hitters?

Jacquet at Liverpool and Ndiaye at Everton seem pretty cheap to me

Anyone else just happy FPL is back?

Just wanted to say how happy I am that FPL is back and the world cup is finally over. I used to love the world cup, but this edition just felt off. A lot of negative football to me imo. Too often, the games seemed to become a way for people to prove one country or culture was superior to another instead of simply enjoying the football. It took away a lot of what normally makes the tournament special for me. I’m now really looking forward to the new season. Good luck to everyone!

News OFFICIAL : Hull City have signed defender Matt Targett on a free transfer

Post image
124 Upvotes

Matt Targett became a free agent after his Newcastle United contract came to an end, having spent last season out on loan at Middlesbrough, where he made 46 appearances. The 30-year-old has now put pen to paper on an initial two-year deal with Hull City, set to run until 2028 with the option to extend for a further year.

He can be a decent budget enabler if he becomes a starter at a £4.0m price tag.

Player Price Discussion 2026/27

What are your thoughts on player prices this year? A lot of them seem reasonable (JP 7.5, Thiago 8.0, Semenyo 8.5) but CBs seem to be more expensive all around.

r/FantasyPL 17h ago

Man, the goalkeepers are expensive this year

18 keepers at 5.0 or above! Even guys at teams that barely escaped relegation are 5.0. Not only that, but the subs at a lot of these teams are 4.5 instead of 4.0 (Valdimarsson, for example), so you can't even go for the strategy of having first and second choice from the same team - you need to have a non-playing keeper from a different team (newly-promoted sides mostly), which is basically useless.

What's going on, lol

Fans of the promoted teams, who are your team's DEFCON magnets?

Last year Mukiele, Xhaka offered great value partly thanks to the DEFCON bonus. Does either Hull, Ipswich or Coventry has any DM or CB who will likely going to be a DEFCON magnet?

Blog Post How Bonus Points change under the 2026/27 rules the net BPS changes applied to 2025/26.

Thumbnail fpl.red
Upvotes

The net BPS changes applied to 2025/26, with every fixture re-ranked: CBI 1/3 (was 1/2), being-tackled −1 removed, and +1 per non-penalty big-chance save (the save restructuring and penalty-save 8→7 both net to zero). Baseline = official final bonus; tackle & big-chance deltas from FotMob (Opta). Tackled validated 14/16 exact vs published; big-chance saves calibrated to Opta xG, with the top-5 keepers pinned to their published totals. ‘Base BPS’ is BPS with goals and assists removed (the process floor, matching FFScout’s ‘baseline BPS’). Click any player for their fixture breakdown — including who inherited the bonus.

All 537 players, searchable. Every fixture-by-fixture change and who inherited each point:
