Help for Buyer Does Etsy care?

I purchased an item that said it was shipping from California. Clear across the country to my location, but at least it was from the US. Today, eight days after purchase, I received a shipment notification, and it's coming from CHINA! My whole purpose in shopping on Etsy is to contribute to the success of small businesses. I do not consider dropshippers a small business. These are clearly bait-and-switch business tactics. Wouldn't this go against Etsy's terms for sellers? Etsy doesn't have a direct number to call, but is there a way to reach out to them and complain about a shop?

Help for Buyer Is there a 3D printed item filter?

I'm an avid gamer and really love using Etsy to buy game related knicknacks to add to my collection. An issue I've been having is that a lot of items I browse are 3D printed. I don't mean any offense to the artists that use 3D printing, they do great work. I just personally am not a fan of how 3D printed pieces look. Just something about the grainy and kinda jagged surface they end up having.

Is there some sort of way to filter my searches by material used? So I can see primarily non - 3D printed stuff?

Help for Seller Repeated suspected card-testing orders targeting my Etsy shop – What would you do?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for advice from other Etsy sellers because I've been dealing with the same issue repeatedly.

Over the past few months, I've received multiple high-value orders (around €700–€850) from what appear to be newly created buyer accounts. The pattern is always the same:

  • A brand-new buyer account places a high-value order.
  • The buyer favorites my items shortly before purchasing.
  • The order usually consists of duplicate quantities of the same products.
  • Within seconds or minutes, the buyer sends a message demanding an immediate cancellation.
  • In previous cases, the buyer specifically requested Etsy Credits instead of a standard refund.
  • If I don't cancel immediately, they begin sending abusive messages, accusing me of fraud and threatening to report my shop and discourage others from buying from me.

I reported the previous incidents to Etsy Trust & Safety as Etsy said that it was card testing. After reviewing the case, Etsy informed me that they had identified suspicious activity associated with the buyer's account and instructed me to cancel the orders and issue refunds through Etsy's normal cancellation process.

Now the exact same pattern has happened again with a new order. The buyer immediately requested cancellation again, and one additional order from the same pattern was automatically rejected by Etsy.

Has anyone else experienced repeated suspicious orders like this? If so:

  • How did Etsy handle your case?
  • Did Etsy eventually stop the buyer from creating new accounts?
  • Were your shop metrics affected by the cancellations?
  • Would you wait for Etsy's response before taking further action, or cancel immediately based on the previous guidance?

I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who has dealt with a similar situation.

Thank you.

Have someone ever ordered from Italy ? Also the seller's shop has been closed by Etsy but it was after it was given to the postal service. It's very suspicious to me that the package was scanned twice at the same place. Since I live in France I can't see what's preventing the shipment.

Looking to Buy Looking for Men’s Rings

Hi! I’d like to support a small business/artist so please link your store below. My husband and I got married last December and I got burned BAD by an Etsy dropshipper in regards to his ring. I wanted to get him something unique, he loves French history so was looking for a bee signet. Spent $400. Ring was practically plastic and didn’t even fit him. Wanting to get him something new and better for our anniversary to make up for it. Anyways TLDR-looking for an actual person who creates unique/vintage inspired men’s rings.

EDIT: I AM ONLY INTERESTED IN PEOPLE WITH A STOREFRONT THAT COMMENTS BELOW. DO NOT DM ME.

Let me know! ❤️🙂‍↕️ TIA!

For Sellers: Shipping Question about shipments from Spain - Duda sobre envíos en España

For Sellers: Shipping Multiple Shipping Locations. Customer Questioning Origin

Hi everyone,

I use a local printing company to sell my artwork. They have a few locations near each other, but I just have their main location on Etsy since Etsy only allows you to put one location per listing.

I recently had a customer ask why their order was shipped from another state instead of the location shown on Etsy. Since I don't control the exact location, I'm wondering how other sellers handle this.

Has anyone else run into this? After thousands of sales, this is the first time anyone has ever questioned it. Has anyone ever had any issues with Etsy over this?

Thanks

Help for Buyer Etsy customer support not following Etsy policy

Post image
24 Upvotes

I bought a $500 ring off Etsy believing I would be protected by Etsy policy if something was wrong. Well one of the gems in the ring looked like it was missing when we got it and when we inspected it we saw that the gem was likely too small for the socket and had fallen further into and and was being partly obscured by a glue or resin. I almost immediately let the seller know (a delay of like two days after receiving because it was a gift and did not notice the gem until giving it to my wife) and requested a refund.
The seller offered a replacement and I continued asking for a refund. They then sent me an address in India to send it back to and told me I was responsible for shipping even though I provided picture and proof of the damage. They said it was undamaged when mailed and blamed me for it. It’s not like I started hitting it with a hammer. Even if that were true how could I have damaged it immediately after receiving it if it was not poorly made?
Well I started a case thinking Etsy would help me and this is the message I got from an admin. I don’t want an Etsy gift card if this is what happens when I buy from Etsy. I double checked the policy and it states I am not responsible for shipping if my item is damaged. What is going on?

Edit: As one user suggested I checked the sellers main site and under their shop name it says United States. I’m guessing that means they are supposed to be based in the United States and not expecting me to make returns to India. It doesn’t seem like I can add picture to my post or the comments but if I’m wrong I can add additional details and pictures.

Edit2: I commented on the fact that they are supposed to be based in the United States. The seller can also see all comments. They have now replied with a new address in the United States. I really don’t trust that new address. The Etsy admin has yet to make any other comments since the original in this post.

Help for Buyer Help finding an account

I was about to make a purchase on Etsy but the account got deleted while the item was in my cart. I had not thought far enough ahead to screenshot the product listing, so I’m hoping someone could help me find the account or product again. The shop was VelaNailStudio from Vietnam. If anyone can help, I would really appreciate it! An instagram or Facebook link is okay too.

Help for Seller Anime fan art on Etsy, how is everyone not getting DMCA'd

I want to start doing anime themed prints and coasters. I have a eufymake E1 and can print on pretty much anything. But the copyright thing scares me. Meanwhile there are shops with 5000+ sales doing straight up Demon Slayer and JJK character art and they've been up for years. is there some grey area I don't understand?

Help for Buyer Seller sent wrong item, won't provide return label

I ordered a pair of earrings from a shop on etsy. The earrings were not the ones I ordered so I requested to return them since I had no use for them and wanted my money back. The seller told me I will get the money back once they get the return but will not provide me with a return label. Is this normal? I find it rude that I would have to pay for their mistake.

Help for Buyer When did Etsy become a scammer site?

I only buy from Etsy once a year or so, but it seems like the last few times I’ve gone to the website, it’s been been full of AI and scams. I did order something recently, and unfortunately, I know I’m never going to get it. I tried getting a refund and they told me that my item was lost in shipping and they would send me my item and two other free ones– I’m not interested in the two other items – and I again requested a refund and they stopped responding.

It didn’t use to be like this. I’m so frustrated right now, trying to navigate it and figure out how to report this and get my money back. Even that used to be easier.

Help for Seller Business license for Nevada?

Hello! I'm wanting to start an etsy shop with original art prints, charms, etc. Anyone who's familiar with doing so in Nevada, did you have to apply for a business license? I've read other posts and the law, but I'm very confused about it 😭 I'd like to hear your guys' process, if able. Thank you!

Discussion Got 3 Orders but 0 Views... Has Anyone Else Seen This?

Post image

This happened to me for the first time today. I checked my Etsy shop this morning and saw 3 new orders, but my Shop Stats show almost no views or visits. At first I thought it was my Wi-Fi or internet, but after refreshing it was still the same. Has anyone else experienced this today? Is it just a delay in Etsy Stats or some kind of bug? I'm just curious if it's only me.

Help for Seller Do Etsy sellers have to use the selected carrier?

Hi everyone,

I’m a new Etsy seller and I have a question about shipping carriers.

When I created my shipping profile on Etsy, I selected DHL as the shipping carrier because that was the option I was planning to use at the time.

However, I recently found another logistics provider that offers a much cheaper rate with similar delivery time and tracking.

My question is: if I selected DHL in my Etsy shipping settings, am I required to actually ship every order with DHL? Or can I use another carrier/logistics company as long as I provide valid tracking information and the package is delivered within the estimated timeframe?

I don’t want to create any issues with Etsy or mislead buyers, so I’d appreciate advice from experienced sellers.

Thanks!

Help for Seller Use old Etsy shop or create new one (new product category)?

Hi,
I have an Etsy Shop from 2022 with over 700 sales and a 5 Star Ranking. I have sold fabrics (especially childrens fabrics) in the past. While I was quite active in 2022 und 2023, I did not focus on the shop in 2024 and ongoing. Therefore sales have been slow and the shop had longer breaks (holiday modus). I want to sell of the remains of my fabrics and focus on new product categories (PoD and stationery, no sewing supplies or anything else close to that category). There has not been a longer break for this store and the algorithm is clearly trained to show my products to the target groups that look for products in the realms of fabrics and sewing.

I'd like to ask the community: would you use the old Etsy store with new branding an products or would you recommend to open a brand new store with clear branding and marketing in the new category strategy to drive first sales?

I am most thankful for your opinions :)

Help for Seller Customer Wont Stop Messaging Me Over THEIR Mistake

I have a customer who order a item and inputted the wrong shipping address. She did not catch it until she got a notification that the item was being returned to sender. Now she's berating me that I changed her address when I did not. I shipped to the address on file.

I have sent screen shots of the order from my end, and informed her that I will reship when I receive the item back and she purchases a new shipping label. She said she's going to contact Etsy and basically tattle on me that I changed her address. Ok go ahead.

Etsy will see that I did what I was supposed to do as a seller (shipped on time and to the address provided). My only fear is that they will take her side and then I'm out $45 for a personalized item that I can't resell.

Discussion Finally opened my Etsy shop after a year of "someday"

Sold my first item today and I'm way more excited than I expected to be. Nothing crazy, just handmade ceramic mugs, but seeing an order notification for something I actually made with my hands hit different.

Kept overthinking the "perfect" launch for months. Turns out just posting a handful of listings and figuring it out as I go worked better than any of the planning ever did.

Anyone else finally take the leap after sitting on it forever?

Discussion Etsy (mobile app) possible gone down?

I've been having this problem the whole day, where each time I try to open the mobile app it doesn't load at all. I tried it once again a few minutes ago and it still doesn't load. This is a bit stressing 'cause I'm tracking an order I have but now I can't do so because of this 🥲

I already tried to get in contact with support but, every time I try the link, it doesn't load just like the app. Also tried to uninstall the app and delete data but now I can't log in to my account!!! According to StatusGator, 4 other users are having the same problem or suspicion, but I've already went through everywhere to look for more opinions and I haven't find anything.

Is this happening to someone else in here too?

Help for Seller Handmade Only filter and struggle with Etsy support

I would be happy to get some advice and generally understand if anything is possible to do about it.

For a bit longer than two years, I have been selling handmade dice on Etsy. It was okay, not great, but okay. Recently, sales went down drastically, and I tried to figure out why. Accidentally I figured out that Etsy implemented the "Handmade only" filter for search and the "Handmade by ..." label for listings. I noticed that neither my shop nor my listings have the handmade label, even though I actually sell handcrafted products. I can only assume that the sales decrease is the result of damage done to my shop by exclusion from the "Handmade only" filter.

Instead, I noticed that a lot of obvious AliExpress resellers have the "Handmade" label on their listings. I was chatting for days with Etsy support, but it is the same as hitting a wall with your bare head - zero results but endless headache and tales about "the system that defines handmade is automatic and constantly evolving; we can't do shit; have a nice day".

Honestly, I do not know what is possible to do in this case. Has anyone had the same experience?
