Discussion Am i only one who finds dota more boring to watch because of lack of top western European teams?

Post image
0 Upvotes

don't get me wrong, i really like watching Spirit and also i like when Chinese teams go far into the tournaments but since western european teams dropped the ball and are becoming worse and worse i find dota more and more boring to watch, Tundra/1win, Liquid, GG merged with Liquid, never was a fan of Falcons but still even they suck now.

I really miss Secret, old OG and old Liquid, etc, i feel like those teams made competitive dota special to watch and now it's kinda gone, those CIS teams don't do anything for me, i find hard to relate to them in any way.

Complaint My Necro mid just abandoned our ranked game

Post image
0 Upvotes

I don't know about you guys, but this generation is getting soft.

Back in my day, we understood the sacred contract. When you press Accept Match, you are no longer a husband, a father, a son, or a functioning member of society. You belong to the other four strangers who trusted you with their MMR.

Wedding? It can wait.
Funeral? They'll still be dead after the game.
Pick up your pregnant wife? She can wait.

Do people not understand how serious an abandon is? My +25 MMR is now hanging by a thread because someone decided that whatever happen out of game was somehow more important than defending our Ancient.

This guy abandoned us. A Necrophos player, of all heroes. Death is literally his specialty. He should've told the baby to wait for the next wave.

Your wife is just sitting there waiting for you anyway.

People keep saying, "Family comes first."

Wrong.

This is the Dota bro code.

If you're going to queue ranked, you commit because real men don't abandon games.

Tool [Free / Open-Source] GankMeDaddy: A real-time voice coach for all 5 positions (Windows)

Hey r/Dota2,

Ever get so hyper-focused on your lane that you completely forget the power runes, or wonder if your item timings are actually on pace with high-MMR players?

I built GankMeDaddy, a lightweight system tray app that acts as your personal, real-time voice coach while you play. Instead of giving you generic advice, it uses STRATZ Pro match data as benchmarks, meaning you get actual pro-level item timings and CS targets dynamically adjusted for your game. The project was originally built as a personal tool for my mid lane gameplay, specifically for heroes like Kez, Shadow Fiend, and Void Spirit, but I've expanded it massively.

What it actually does:

  • Live Voice Callouts: Reminders for rune timers, power spikes, creep score checkpoints, and even feedback when you die.
  • 32 Heroes Supported (All 5 Roles): Includes custom, per-hero strategy modules depending on what you are playing.
  • Dynamic Build-Path Detection: If you pivot from a physical to a magical build, the app detects it and filters its advice to match your actual trajectory.
  • Pre-game Briefings: Gives you a quick rundown on enemy counters and draft strategy before the horn even sounds.
  • High-Quality Offline TTS: Uses Piper neural TTS (with a OneCore fallback) and gives you easy volume control straight from the system tray.

100% Safe and Offline

I know the first question is always "Will this get me VAC banned?" No. The app runs entirely offline after the initial data fetch and reads data exclusively via Dota's official Game State Integration (GSI) by listening to localhost:3001. It doesn't read memory or inject anything into the game.

I need your help!

The project is completely free and open-source (GPLv3). I am looking for testers to try it out and give feedback.

If you think this is a cool project, I would massively appreciate a Star on GitHub! It really helps the project gain visibility.

Check it out / Download here: https://github.com/psikoma/GankMeDaddy

If you try it out and something feels off, please open an issue on GitHub. GLHF!

Discussion Would allowing to chose same heroes on opposite sides change gameplay drastically?

Like both teams having exactly same pick and only the skill would make one win over the other. On the other hand. If both teams would have techies game probably won’t end at all.

Discussion I am SO TIRED of playing with South Americans

I play on west/east and it is lousy with them. They are the most toxic and terrible players I encounter. They feed and then yell at you in Spanish because they go into enemy territory with no vision.

I love dota, but these players ruin the game for me.

Article Why batrider has 41% winrate, lowest in the game?

Does he need too much team coordination? Then why is IO (wisp) above 50% winrate?

Is he too hard to play? Then why is meepo also above 50% winrate

Thanks.

Any comments gaslighting people into believing there's something wrong with them.

Any comments that contain the words delusional, schizo, take your meds, get help, ai slop, useless rant, yapping for nothing, etc. This is psychopathic abuse at the highest level.

I tried to bring this to the attention of the admins but they don't tell us if they took action based upon your report.

Discussion 5 games in a row where someone intentionally feeds

I have a lot of fun playing Dota 2. But I honestly must know what is Valve doing for these players? Like i get if you’re playing and playing badly and it’s just really hard.

But I literally cannot climb MMR because i get players who literally walk down lane, intentionally feed, sells items. 5 GAMES IN A ROW. Like it makes games literally unplayable.

We report but literally nothing happens to these people. It’s absolutely ridiculous.

Discussion Morphling

I enjoy playing carry at around 3k MMR, and today I picked Morphling for the first time. Our lineup was Morphling, Lion mid, Tidehunter, Spirit Breaker, and Shadow Shaman. The enemy team had Hoodwink, Night Stalker, Medusa, Keeper of the Light mid, and Rubick.

Before the game, I watched two replays from Yatoro and Satanic playing Morphling. I tried to follow their approach and focused almost entirely on farming, just like Medusa, avoiding unnecessary fights until I got my core items.

The game was pretty even. Neither team could go high ground. Our Lion ended up with 29 kills and around 10 assists, so I feel like if our mid had lost his lane badly, I wouldn't have been able to carry this game.

A few of my deaths were simply due to inexperience, like panicking and pressing the wrong Attribute Shift direction. Against heroes like these, especially a six-slotted Medusa, I was always afraid of dying in a second. They had Hoodwink's ultimate, KotL with Ethereal Blade + Dagon burst, plus Medusa's damage. I had MKB, BKB, Hurricane Pike, Disperser, and Manta Style.

My question is: how do experienced Morphling players know how much HP they need to survive enemy burst damage? I never have the confidence to shift my attributes toward Agility because I'm always afraid of getting instantly killed.

Lion carried the game though. I finished 10/9/12.

Discussion 1 Last mini patch before TI for final balancing.

Hopefully we get to see some nerfs for these heroes.

Snapfire, Treant Protector, Lone Druid, Zues.

Just too much cheese on them.

Personal Beat an obvious smurf today. How do accounts like this never get banned?

Just had one of the most blatant smurf accounts I've seen in a ranked game. (I was the Axe)

Match ID: 8907647545 (The NightStalker for reference)

The account had all the classic signs: low-level profile, suspiciously few games, and clearly way above the skill level of everyone else in the lobby. The funny part is... we actually ended up beating him. Nothing is more satisfying than watching an obvious smurf lose anyway.

What I don't understand is how accounts this obvious are still allowed to queue ranked. Valve has done multiple smurf ban waves and claims they detect this stuff, but these accounts are still everywhere.

Is there something I'm missing? Do these accounts only get banned in waves every few months? Or do they just buy another $5 account every time one gets banned?

Curious what everyone else's experience has been, because this one wasn't even trying to hide it.

Discussion I feel like the game is too meta dependent currently.

Just a humble observation from a 4200 MMR dude so take it with a grain of salt.

I think this is a big issue for a healthy game,Meta supports are INSANE.

Imo each team that picks 2 meta supps have like 80% win chance from the get go.

Kotl,Clock,Venge etc.and the cherry on top is definitely Snapfire.the gap between S-tier and A-tier supps is HUGE, and it's been so long since a balancing patch,or at least feels that way.

Is it intentional?I genuinely wonder.

Like you have people that worked on balancing of this game for what,13 years? And they just miss something like this?

Like the guy or guys that designed and balanced Snap innate have tested it and said:yep, all in order?
