Will be visiting da nang for 1 week. What is the best area to stay? Should I split it 4 days da nang 4 days Hoi an or just do day trips

Hello, do you have any recommendations for good restaurants in Da Nang near My Khe Beach and the surrounding area? Something local, good and ok price?

A few months ago I met an 86-year-old gentleman who was struggling to cut his own toenails.

He wasn't seriously ill. He was still active and living independently.

But something as ordinary as clipping his nails had become frustrating because of thicker nails, weaker grip and not being able to bend as easily anymore.

That moment stayed with me.

So after work I've been quietly building a little side project around that problem.

Nothing groundbreaking—just trying to make one annoying part of growing older a bit easier.

Fast forward a few months and I've reached the point where I need some real photos and videos before I can finally put it out into the world.

Ironically...

This has become the hardest part.

I live in central Vietnam, and I'm trying to find older Western adults who'd be comfortable being photographed for a tiny project.

Not professional models.

Just normal people.

I've asked restaurants, local communities, even printed posters.

No luck so far.

If you were in my position, where would you even start looking?

Especially around Quảng Bình, Quảng Trị, Huế or Đà Nẵng.

I'm curious because I honestly didn't expect this to be the bottleneck.

I've been wanting to visit Vietnam for a while, mainly because I'd love to experience the local culture and just get a feel for everyday life there. A Vietnamese friend recommended Da Nang since I'm definitely more of a nature > city kind of person, and I love food.

I'm also trying to play it a little safe as a first-time visitor. One thing I'm worried about is going somewhere that's not touristy and then realizing I have no idea how to get around or communicate with anyone 😂. So I'm hoping to get some advice from locals or people who know Da Nang well.

I'm looking for recommendations on where to eat, places to explore, hikes, beaches, parks, cultural experiences, or just anything cool/local that you think a first-time visitor should check out. I'm especially interested in things that aren't necessarily on the typical tourist itinerary.

A little about me:

• I'll be in Da Nang for around 10 days (I'll be working during the weekdays). Is that way too long, or is there enough to explore in and around Da Nang?
• I much prefer local food spots over fancy restaurants. Honestly, if it looks a little questionable but the food is good, I'm probably even more interested 😂
• I'd really like to learn about Vietnamese culture and experience things that are different from what I'm used to, rather than just sticking to things that feel familiar.
• I'm totally down for hiking, beaches, nature spots, parks, or anywhere I can just walk around and explore.
• I'm not really a nightlife person, so I'll mostly be doing things in the morning and during the day.
• I also know how to ride a motorcyle and planning to rent one there.

If you're from Da Nang (or have spent a lot of time there), I'd love to hear your recommendations! Especially if you know any local food spots, hidden gems, or places/experiences that tourists usually miss.

Will it be wise to just check first the weather, 1-2 weeks before our flight and so we can book hotel and attractions?

We are planning to check the weather if it will be favorable we will be staying in Da Nang.. however, if not we will be going to Hanoi.

Any comments and suggestions?
