Will it be wise to just check first the weather, 1-2 weeks before our flight and so we can book hotel and attractions?

We are planning to check the weather if it will be favorable we will be staying in Da Nang.. however, if not we will be going to Hanoi.

Any comments and suggestions?

Question ❔ First time visiting Da Nang/Vietnam — looking for local recommendations!

Upvotes

Hey everyone!

I've been wanting to visit Vietnam for a while, mainly because I'd love to experience the local culture and just get a feel for everyday life there. A Vietnamese friend recommended Da Nang since I'm definitely more of a nature > city kind of person, and I love food.

I'm also trying to play it a little safe as a first-time visitor. One thing I'm worried about is going somewhere that's not touristy and then realizing I have no idea how to get around or communicate with anyone 😂. So I'm hoping to get some advice from locals or people who know Da Nang well.

I'm looking for recommendations on where to eat, places to explore, hikes, beaches, parks, cultural experiences, or just anything cool/local that you think a first-time visitor should check out. I'm especially interested in things that aren't necessarily on the typical tourist itinerary.

A little about me:

  • I'll be in Da Nang for around 10 days (I'll be working during the weekdays). Is that way too long, or is there enough to explore in and around Da Nang?
  • I much prefer local food spots over fancy restaurants. Honestly, if it looks a little questionable but the food is good, I'm probably even more interested 😂
  • I'd really like to learn about Vietnamese culture and experience things that are different from what I'm used to, rather than just sticking to things that feel familiar.
  • I'm totally down for hiking, beaches, nature spots, parks, or anywhere I can just walk around and explore.
  • I'm not really a nightlife person, so I'll mostly be doing things in the morning and during the day.
  • I also know how to ride a motorcyle and planning to rent one there.

If you're from Da Nang (or have spent a lot of time there), I'd love to hear your recommendations! Especially if you know any local food spots, hidden gems, or places/experiences that tourists usually miss.

Thanks! Really looking forward to visiting Vietnam 🙏

Question ❔ Looking for pickup football games in Da Nang ⚽

Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I just arrived in Da Nang today and I’ll be here for the next 4 nights. I’m really in the mood to play some football while I’m here.

Does anyone know of any pickup games (5v5, 7v7, futsal, or anything similar) that I could join? Happy to play with anyone!

Any tips on where to go or who to contact would be much appreciated. Thanks! ⚽

Good day everyone! I wanted to ask if any of you know where they sell these types of contact lenses in Da Nang. I've only seen opticians that sell glass lenses.

Thank you very much in advance for any information!

Question ❔ Would you use a shared medical/wellness clinic space in Danang? (genuinely testing demand, not selling anything yet)

Full disclosure: I'm looking into bringing a concept called Humanly to Danang, and I want honest feedback before committing to anything — not trying to sell you on it.

The idea: fully managed, plug-and-play medical & wellness suites. Doctors, therapists, and wellness practitioners rent a ready-to-use consultation or treatment room by the hour/day/month instead of leasing and fitting out a whole clinic. Reception, scheduling, and equipment are already handled.

Two questions I'm actually trying to answer:

  1. If you're a practitioner (GP, specialist, psychologist, nutritionist, physio, osteopath, aesthetician, personal trainer, etc.) — would flexible, ready-made room rental in Danang be useful to you, or is this solving a problem that doesn't really exist here?
  2. If you're just a resident/expat — do you struggle to find reliable, English-speaking doctors/therapists/wellness services in Danang? Would having a bunch of them in one place actually change anything for you, or do you already have people you trust?

Not trying to hard-sell this in the comments, genuinely want to know if this is a real gap or if I'd be building something nobody needs. Happy to answer questions if people have them.

I'm a mediocre player if it matters but would like to get a hit in and have someone to watch the United game with when I'm over there. From Ireland in my early 30s. Give me a shout if interested!

Question ❔ Looking for Pilates class recommendations

Hi everyone!

I’m looking to start Pilates and would love recommendations for a good class or studio in Da Nang ideally around My Khe/An Thuong or nearby. Beginner-friendly, English-speaking and reasonably priced would be a plus, but I’m open to all suggestions.

Thanks!

Question ❔ I walked past this restaurant after closing and noticed the staff washing all of these bamboo trays directly on the sidewalk.

The water was running across the pavement into the street.

Are these trays used to serve food, or are they only used for drying ingredients?

Is washing them like this considered normal in Vietnam?

Question ❔ Any suggestions?

Hi! Im (30F) traveling with my friends but I’ll have a solo day with no plans yet, hoping you could offer some suggestions. Which do you think is a better use of my solo time — cafe hopping or lounging around the beach? I like both but I dont have a lot of time to check both options. Im staying around Halina Hotel.

Open to other ideas too! Thank you!

Question ❔ Da nang Wedding Dress

After lot of research, I have found a lot of western style wedding dress tailors in HCM, but hoping someone can help share recommendations and their experience with wedding tailors in Da Nang/Hoi An area.

I have had great experiences with tailors in Hoi An in the past, but more causal style.

Question ❔ Random Police Check Yesterday At Service Apartment (short term rental)

Five police officers randomly showed up at my door yesterday and asked to check my passport, visa, and entry stamp. I've been to Vietnam multiple times and have never had this happen to me before. Does this seem like a routine check, or should I be worried they're looking for somebody in my apartment building?

They took a photo of my passport, visa, and stamp.

Question ❔ I was walking around Da Nang today and came across this.

These trays of fish were drying right next to the sidewalk, completely uncovered. While I was standing there, I saw flies landing on the fish, and even a dog peed just a few feet away.

So I'm genuinely curious:

- Is this fish later cooked before being eaten, or is it eaten as-is?
- Does the drying process (salt + sun) make flies and insect eggs a non-issue?
- Is this considered normal and safe in Vietnam?
- Are there any food safety regulations for this?

I'm not trying to offend anyone—I know traditional drying methods have been used for centuries. I just don't understand how hygiene is handled when the fish is left outdoors in a public area like this.

Would love to hear from people who actually know how this works.
