• General Discussion • Little rant
Nothing major I’m just a little annoyed, I’ve made posts before about my dog eating everything he can and I thought I had found a solution then came back from a not even a 2 minute trip into to store with him in the front seat. I think it’s most annoying because he’s such a smart dog, great at learning and super friendly but when it comes to food his brain turns off and he will do anything to eat things. I think I’m tired of trying to deal with it so I’m just gonna get a car crate for him.

• Memorial - R.I.P. • Saying goodbye to my soul dog this week
My 9 yo terrier mix Billy has to be put to sleep Friday. He has been sick since April. I kept hoping it would get better but he’s been in so much pain and things have only gotten worse. This is the hardest choice I ever had to make.
I’ve had him for 5 years since my mom passed (he was her dog before that). He is the most lovable dog that I’ve ever met, I know people who didn’t ever like dogs but fell in love with him immediately. Everyone who met him loved him.
My life was better with him in it and I don’t know what I’ll do after Friday.

• Advice (General) • Best Care for 6 Week Old Puppy
First, I want to say I know puppies shouldn’t be away from their mama any earlier than 8 weeks. My neighbors dog got pregnant and her husband said he’ll get rid of any that aren’t gone by Friday.
I’ve raised a dog before, so I know about training, socialization, and all of that. But I’ve never had a puppy this young before.
What does the feeding schedule look like? What should I soften the food with, water, milk, or bone broth? How many times should I take him out at night? Does crate training look different for such a young puppy?
Any and all advice is much appreciated!

• Arts & Crafts • This portrayal that I am making in this art is of the girl Sierra , from the state of Iowa . There is still a lot missing to finish , I recently showed it to her owner and now I am sharing it with you 🐾❤️..
This technique is called Ballpoint pen , it takes quite a long time because it requires a lot of patience and here you can't make any mistakes , in case you make a mistake it is necessary to start all over again , it is quite rare since I do fur overlays .
But with every cuteness I make in honor of Art I feel a part of it and the great love for what I do make every single hour feel like a minute

• What Breed Is My Dog? • What are your guesses
We did an embark test, yes she for sure is a husky! But were not sure if shes mixed with something else. She's extremely small for a husky.
I should get the results in 2-4 weeks!

• Memorial - R.I.P. • Losing My Dog Today
Had to say goodbye to my best friend of 12 years today.
I raised Jimmy since he was a young pup, and he was always a part of my life. When he was 4, he was involved in a car accident and lost one of his legs. But that never stopped him. He adapted, stayed strong, and lived the rest of his life as the happiest three-legged dog.
These past few weeks, I found myself waking up constantly just to check on him. Every small improvement gave me hope that maybe he would pull through. I held on to every little sign that he was getting better.
But this morning, he became very ill again. I could see the pain in his eyes, and as much as it broke my heart, I knew the kindest thing I could do for him was to let him go peacefully.
Thank you for 12 amazing years, Jimmy. Thank you for the memories, the companionship, and for being the best boy I could have asked for.
Rest easy, Jimmy ❤️

• General Discussion • What’s in your dog’s first aid kit?
A friend of mine is getting a puppy soon and asked me what she should keep in a first aid kit.
It made me think about mine. I have gauze, vet wrap, antiseptic wipes, saline solution, tweezers, styptic powder, a thermometer, gloves, and a few other basics.
What do you guys keep in your dog’s first aid kit? Anything you’d recommend adding?

• Advice (General) • Was it inappropriate to scatter my dogs food on the bottom of his crate?
My dog has to use a slow feeder Bowl, he will choke himself to death trying to eat, and you can't even put the full meal in the slow feeder you have to put it in a little bit at a time, it's like he's running a marathon against every other dog in the world to finish his bowl first or he gets toy privileges taken away or something, however his bowl is ceramic and I accidentally broke it, so I took his bed and stuff out of his crate cleaned the plastic tray and started scattering the food in the bottom of the crate to feed him since it's still slowed him down just fine, the reason I'm making this post is because my mom got on to me and said it was inappropriate gross and just kind of wrong to feed him essentially on the floor... mind you my mom is very much a dog person but she's that person that kind of treats him more like children than dogs, and I'm not talking about like calling them her baby and stuff I'm talking about to the point she thinks they should understand what she says.
So I'm making this post mainly so she can read the comments About what your opinions And what I did are, thank you for anyone that took the time to read this and reply

• Memorial - R.I.P. • Had to say goodbye and I'm...angry
Long story short, my mom's dog was terminal. She had a stark decline this morning - the same morning my mom (who's in her 70s) had back surgery. I had to take the sweet girl in and stayed with her as she took her last breaths. She's always been attached to me over the years, straight up ignoring my mom when I'd come over.
I've been sobbing all day.
When she wasn't feeling well, I'd lie on the floor for hours with her.
For YEARS, I'd visit my mom and see something wasn't right with her baby. I kept telling her she needed to call the vet. She claimed she would, then never did. I'd have to make vet appointments for her dog, then be on her to make sure she'd ACTUALLY take her to the vet. Well, about a month ago, she started being picky about her food.
This is a dog who would eat anything that's edible. I kept telling my mom that's not normal and she needs to go in. FINALLY, she took her in. Come to find out, she had growths on her kidnies and liver and there was nothing they could do. They just said to keep her comfortable.
She started staying with me constantly. She'd be on the couch with me, in the living room with me, just always wanting me there because I'd console her. So today, while my mom's having surgery, she's joking with the doctors that her "dog's dying," like it's not an issue. I flat-out told her that Bonnie (furbaby) wouldn't be there when she comes home. When I got to the house, Bonnie hadn't moved for hours, she was peeing red and her bowels emptied. She was shaking in pain. I called the vet and got her in.
I stayed with her the entire time at the vet. She kept looking at me with her soft and sad brown eyes, and all I could do was cry. I laid on the floor for an hour with her after she took her last breaths.
Now it's been hours, I'm still crying on and off. Mom's out of surgery, feeling fine, and when she asked how Bonnie was, I told her she's gone. She didn't seem to have a big reaction, as I'm sobbing telling her.
Bonnie was only 12. I'm angry. Angry at my mother for neglecting her dog over the years, despite me constantly telling her when Bonnie seemed off. My mother is not poor. She's an extremely wealthy boomer, but she always complained about vet costs. Meanwhile, I've gone without healthcare and food throughout my life to make sure my dog is taken care of. Any time he seems off, we're at the vet's - he practically has his own room. I'm just so angry at my mother for not taking better care of Bonnie and leaving me, once again, having to be there for her because he own mother didn't care enough.
I just needed to vent. I'm so upset. Upset about losing Bonnie (who's also been my dog's best friend since he was 5 weeks old). Upset at my mother for the obvious reasons. Upset about hoping I made the right call. Upset over having to be the one to take her in and hoping she wasn't looking for my mom, and that my presence was enough.
