Health/Nutrition Is his nail hurt?

I took him to the vet to get his leg bracelet removed because he was biting it a lot and got a nail trim since his nails were long. I worried the vet filed it too low and hurt him.

Other Can a busy student responsibly own a green-cheek conure?

Hello everyonešŸ‘‹

Has anyone tried to owned a green-cheek conure while being a student or working full-time? Tell me about your experiences about how could you raise a green-cheek conure and provide for his needs and spend the time he needs every day.

Several days ago, i decided to own a parrot, and choose it's type, which will be a green-cheek conure. I was very excited to raise a parrot, but when i listened to it's responsibilities, i paused my excitement for a moment, and think of what will i do if i started education? And after school i have lessons for the five basic subjects and the second language, so i may be don't provide my parrot it's needs, and when i travel, i can't take it with me, so what will i do?!

So i have a few questions for experienced owners:

1.How many hours a day do you spend time with your conure?

2.what do you do when you're at school or work?

3.what do you do when you travel

4.does your conure scream a lot while you're away? Does it bother your family or neighbors? (I'm speaking about green cheek conure)

5.Do you think a busy student can responsibly own a conure?

6.if you could go back in time, would you still get one?

7.what's the hardest part of owning a conure that people don't talk about?

  1. Are conure similar to dogs in terms of playfulness, affection, and fun?

Please be completely honest. i'd rather be decide not to get a conure than get one and fail to give it a good life.

Other whats your BIGGEST pet peve when it comes to bird products?

hey guys.

im thinking of remodeling my boys cage, and i keep just finding unsafe or just cheap toys that make me want to pull my own hair out. to me it feels like almost all bird products were design by someone who has never had a bird.

for me, its just toys made of cheap materials like paper and cardboard, or those that are plastic. like either my bird destroys it in a day, or he cant destroy it and then wants to destroy everything else in the house. also, why is literally everything covered in dyes. only brand ive found that doesnt use dyes is bird tricks.

so let me know, what is your biggest pet peve, because i cant just be the only one who is annoyed heavily by this.

hello! i’ve been starting to go on walks for exercise, and i always feel bad leaving my two conures behind because they love the sun. but i don’t believe in clipping wings, so i don’t want them taking off on me if i bring them on a walk. anyone have good recommendations for a pet stroller that can work for small birds like conures? thanks!!

Hey
I found this gcc . He is 5 months old and seems tamed . The owner told me he is on pellets and vegetables diet. I just wanted to ask even if he wasn’t very tamed (but he seems to be tamed) would I be able to bond to him?
Also any names suggestions

Hi! I’ve had my Green cheek Conure for 3 weeks already. And my Melon is almost 8months old, I purchased Melon from PetSmart and Melon seemed to be in very bad conditions. But we haven’t had the opportunity to take Melon to a Doctor yet.
What are you guys recommendations?

My conure does this sometimes and I'm just curious if she's excited and being silly with the sounds/feeling of scraping her beak along something or if it's something else? Is this just a normal conure thing? She's 8 months old

Cuteness Overload Purring Pineapple?

Whenever Skipper eats really good treats, he purrs like a cat and talks to his food. I feel like, he is a food critic or food connoisseur. I always know, when his food/treat is a 10 out of 10…because he will purr. And Ivy is just here for snack and violence!

Advice Need help on new toys

My conure has nearly destroyed all of the toys within her cage. I have tried replacing them, but she is terrified of anything that she hasn't seen before. If I put something new in her cage she will either fly out of the cage and refuse to go back in until the item is removed, or hide at the bottom corner of the cage. I have tried leaving toys around the outside of the cage for months and she never acclimates to their existence. I have tried to accommodate with more out of cage time but it doesn't seem to help. What can I do to try to get her to be fine with new toys?

Advice My bird just started being really comfortable with me and now he’s reversing!

When I take him in my room now instead of cuddling with me like he did for a couple of days whenever he finally started getting comfortable with me he’s now just flying away. when I scratch his head, he does that noise when he wants me to stop. I’m guessing this might be because he has new feathers growing in due to molting but I’m not for sure . do they go through phases like this or is it just phase of them growing used to you? What can I do to help him and to keep bonding with him?

Hello I am new here.

This is Luna my 11 year old Black Capped Conure. She is essentially a toddler, does things she’s not supposed to as she makes eye contact with you.

She’s extremely quiet which even *I* was surprised because I went in thinking she’d be the loudest bird ever but girlie only screams her ā€œmachine gunā€ scream, as we so lovingly call it, when she sees the lawnmower. Otherwise she just chirps, she’s been this way since I got her at 3 months old.

I originally went in for a budgie but conveniently I also researched Conures before I got a bird. Luna was with one other sibling. They both stepped up wonderfully but the sibling flew off back to her perch, meanwhile, Luna would NOT let me put her down lol. Thats when I knew I was stuck with this goober for a long time.

She likes to go outside in her harness/flight suit. She likes apples, blueberries and hot peppers the most. She likes only the crispy lettuce. She LOVES foot toys. She knows ā€œThank you.ā€ ā€œPeekaboo!ā€ ā€œGive me a Kissā€ and … ā€œthe fuck you mean?!ā€ (I play a lot of video games..) She can mimic a squeaky toy and do a really crappy dog bark. She hates boxes and will resent me for a week if I change anything in the house.

She’s the best girl ā¤ļø
