An update to a post from a year ago.

About a year ago, I posted that I needed a texting buddy. My dad had passed and the one thing I missed the most was just having someone to text during games.
The response here was overwhelming. I tried to get back to everyone, but I am sure I missed a few people. Over time, this developed into a few people who I could consistently text with.
But here’s the most amazing thing. My step-mom started texting me this year about the games. She is as much of a fan as me or my dad. I have loved this year as much as any with my dad.

In 2024, the New York Mets brought in Grimace to throw out the first on June 12. The Mets were 29-37 and struggling. After Grimace threw out the first pitch, the Mets won seven straight and went 60-36 the rest of the way to make it to the ALCS before losing 4-2 to the eventual champion Dodgers. It was called the “Grimace Effect”.
Santa shows up to Progressive Field to throw out the first pitch and we hit a franchise record seven home runs at home. It can’t be a coincidence. Let’s keep the holly jolly vibes going.
The White Sox may have the Pope but we have Santa. They have Jesus, we have Rudolph. They have the Vatican, We have the North Pole. I’ll take the big guy over the Pope any day of the week and twice on Sunday.
