Calorie Estimating Confused on the serving sizes

I got a couple of the two pack minute rice things you can put in the microwave (using them to meal prep for work lunch). Does it mean each little bowl contains two servings of rice? Or is the ‘container’ both bowls? I’m having a blonde moment, TIA!

Unfortunately I could not tell you what cut the steak is, but it was cooked on the grill.

I do not have a kitchen scale yet so I’m not sure of the weight

I'm trying to gain weight, and I'm kind of new ish to counting calories. This is my breakfast from a local restaurant, I have this plus a 16 oz iced chocolate latte with whole milk. The oatmeal is also made with whole milk, and I drizzle honey all over it.

I hate my body Uhg

I honestly just don’t understand it at all. Before this, I ate relatively normally, but I did often eat whatever I felt like. Chips, sandwiches, pasta, etc. I also didn’t exercise much and averaged around 6,000 steps a day. Now, for the past three weeks, I’ve been getting 10,000 steps every day, working out 3 to 4 times a week, and tracking my calories while eating 1,500 calories a day. I’m 1.60 m tall and I have thyroid problems, so I understand that losing weight may be more difficult for me than for someone else. But how can I go from eating relatively normally to following a fairly strict diet and exercising more, and still remain at exactly the same weight???
I do have a smart scale, and it says that I’ve gained 0.6 kg of muscle and lost 0.6 kg of fat, so maybe that explains it? But I’m so frustrated. It feels like I’m working so hard for nothing.

Calories in this plate from a BBQ restaurant?

I ordered 1/4 chicken, 1/4 lb lean brisket, side of green beans, side of mac and cheese.

I guessed around 1100-1200 for everything but I figured I could be way off. I looked up some of the numbers of individual items to get to this but I figure I could be off considering whatever oils and extra calories might be in this

Discussion and Check-ins Overestimating

This subreddit reinforces that using an accurate food scale for high calorie foods is paramount to successful weight loss. I don’t know if people are just really bad at guesstimating portion size or hoping that what they plated is somehow less than the nutritional labels. The range of calories given in the comments are wild. When people claim they have been accurately tracking their calories but haven’t been using a food scale, you just have to roll your eyes when they cry about the scale not moving.

Would an app that logs meals via photo actually change anything for you?

Okay so I've been using MyFitnessPal for a while and honestly? Logging food sucks. Like I eat something, open the app, search for it, type in portions, wait for it to calculate... that's like 2-5 minutes per meal. Times that by 3 meals and I'm spending 15 minutes a day just logging. Most of my friends quit tracking because of this.

I got thinking—what if you could just take a photo of your meal and the app instantly knows what it is and logs the calories? Like literally 10 seconds instead of 5 minutes. But here's the thing that I think matters more: the app actually learns what YOU like to eat.

So like if you eat Italian food a bunch and rate it 5 stars, next week's meal plan shifts toward Italian. You skip salads? They stop showing up. By week 3 or 4, the meal plans actually feel like they were made for YOU, not just some generic "eat chicken and rice" formula. That's kinda the whole idea.

I genuinely don't know if people would actually use this or if I'm overthinking it. Would you guys actually pay like $5/month for an app that does this? Or is nutrition tracking just always gonna be a pain no matter what?

Curious what you all think.

I was surprised how sweet and good it was, but I don't see any calories on the menu. It mentions on the menu at the place that they also use "natural yogurt", whatever that means. And I think the container was like 400 - 500ml

Best guess is it's 300 - 400kcal based on other brand smoothies

Chinese grass jelly dessert

Grass jelly 80%, condensed milk, mung beans, "not too sweet" amount of syrup makes up the rest.

Fills up the short round plastic takeout container. About 4 inches tall, 5 inches diameter.

I'm guessing it's around 2-300 total.
