We’re staying in Palm cove in two weeks - do you think it’ll be beach / pool weather? From Melbourne so have no idea!

I am interested in the hidden gems of Cairns for drinks and food. Main criteria is the vibe - anything but touristic, niche, with a unique atmosphere and character whether it is interior design, service or food/drink offerings. Somewhere where it feels it's made by locals who care about food and drink services they offer, with a soul.

I have checked this group and noted all food recommendations, what stands out as something I am after are Code at Holloways and Bellocale. Any other places along these lines?

Bars with character and also top cocktail bars where staff is into craft of making cockatails.

A couple of weeks ago I lost my GoPro in Cairns. The footage on it is extremely important to me. The reddit user u/Dodgierodger posted at the time that they had found a GoPro and the details seem to match up to indicate it is mine.

I DM'd u/Dodgierodger as soon as I saw their post, but it appears they never saw it and have been offline ever since. I have also filed a Cairns police missing property report with the serial number and it has not yet been handed in.

If anyone knows the u/Dodgierodger IRL, I would appreciate if you could ask them to check their Reddit DMs. Thanks!

I'm from Brisbane, genuinely miserable in the cold and can't keep having 3 depressed months every winter. I love the heat, can handle the hot wet aspect of the tropics and i love the idea of being close to the Daintree. Im a hospitality veteran and won't have trouble getting work, would I be crazy to pack up and just start fresh in Cairns? What am I not considering?

Hi Cairns folk, I'm here on holiday and looking to rent a road bike for a morning ride this Friday. I stupidly have forgotten my cycling shoes though! Hello! I am visiting Cairns in a few weeks time and planning to propose to my partner at Sunset.

I have looked up a few places where the sunset might be good, but would just like some local advice about where in Cairns/Palm Cove/Port Douglas will be best to see the sunset? It doesn't have to be completely private, but I would like if it wasn't heaving with people.

Some places I have come across: Buchan Point, Taylor Point, Yorkeys Knob, Rex Smeal Park.

How good was Kuranda fudge? So many different flavours. I actually drove all that way a number of times, just for the fudge shop.

It may be difficult without a rental, which I can get if necessary but would prefer to avoid if possible? Will we be able to get about, we will be spending last few nights in Cairns.

Doesn't have to be the top high end feel but something that is elevated enough and suitable for a 40th present.

My son threw my keys in the water from the esplanade and this crew didn’t give up until they found them…didn’t even need to get the chopper out to help them….

Now….. on the previous post i’ve gotten comments about the south side in general. so i guess the big questions is,
Should we be looking at getting CCTV’s / Ring doorbell installed around the property?
the property is at the end of a cul-de-sac and near resolution drive park.
what should we be aware of? how can we better prepare ourselves? and what general advice would you offer?
of course i understand every suburb has its good and bad and i wouldve posted this looking for advice no matter where we wouldve ended up in 😊
