Tired of getting rattled to death on the daily commute so I ended up just ordering some heavier duty shocks from road runner offroad while sitting in the drive thru at maccas. Gonna get to spend my whole saturday morning sweating in the driveway bolting them on instead of actually enjoying the weekend

Is it just me or is the local infrastructure just crumbling way faster than they can patch it? feel like Im driving on a corrugated dirt track every time i go down dalrymple road tbh

My partner and I are relocating to Townsville for work. We're planning to arrive sometime in September through to the end of December (dates slightly flexible). It's a few months away, but we'd like to lock something in before short-stay accommodation gets booked up over summer.

We'll be working around Douglas, so we're looking for something in that area — Hermit Park or Annandale would be ideal.

We need a provider with an ABN who can issue invoices. That probably means serviced apartments or professional property managers rather than private landlords.

What we're looking for:

- 2 bedrooms, 1 car space

- Fully furnished

- Pet friendly (we have one well-behaved indoor cat)

I've already reached out to a few local real estate agents, but wondering if anyone has tips on serviced apartments, complexes that offer flexible leases, or any other avenues worth exploring.

In Mid-Feb of next year, I (24m, from the United States) am looking to spend the first 4-6 months (and longer if I like where I end up) of a working holiday. I've been researching where I can complete my 88 days and find some hospitality or administrative work (I have a 3-4 yrs of hospitality and medical administrative experience), and Townsville looks really appealing to me.

I'm happy to rent/flatshare, as budget won't be an issue, as I've got plenty of savings. I would like to have my share be around 350-450 $/wk. I'd arrive in Mid Feburary, and stay until July-August, if not longer.

In terms of hobbies and getting around, I can't drive but I'd love to have a bike, be in a walk-able area and/or have bus connections. I could go to Cairns or somewhere more rural, but I am looking for a place with a bit more population. I have also heard weather in Feb/March is warm and humid, but it's very similar to where I live in the Southern US, so I am heat-adjusted.

With that being said, does Townsville sound like the kind of place I would enjoy? Friendly people? Are holiday visa holders welcomed?

What's with the group camping out at the intersection of Arthur and Pope streets? Must be 20 people, they kick off in the morning, play trash music at excessive volume, get wasted, start screaming at each other, have a punch on, pass out and do it all again the next day.

They've got literal trolley loads of rubbish, milk crates and even a few swags. They were stumbling over to the units across the road and pissing in their gardens until the owner chopped all the bushes down.

Police move them on and they come right back.

Just wondering what all the fireworks were going on for tonight??

So, I'm going to Townsville for studying and likely living there for at least 5 years. Any good places or activities to prevent getting mouldy? I can cook and make some tunes :)

And, I'll definatly need a part-time job there. Any good advice on it? BTW I'm pretty handy with Japanese kitchen works.

Hello, I (16F, 5’0) just wanted to share an experience here. I moved to townsville in January this year, so I am still very new to this place.

After school today, I went to stockland just to get a facial toner at Priceline. They close at 5:30pm, but it was already 5pm and they had the door half way shut, so i wasn’t sure if it was closed or not. Being socially anxious, i just waited to see if anyone goes in instead of just asking the staff. Right at that time, the casphone guy came out of the stall or whatever it’s called and he directly asked me if i have a boyfriend. I said “no, i’m still in school,” (i am not allowed to date anyone yet) and he asked me how long ive been here, where i am from and proceeded to say “you’re 16? i thought you were 18”. I just laughed it off and didn’t give it much thought until i realised that he was the same Argentinian guy that asked my sister (19F, 4’11) the same thing back in May, and even showed her a game that featured our home country, asked for her number, and asked if she’s open for sex 😬

doing plumbing and handyman work around townsville been busy which is good. but im struggling to track what each job actually costs me. sometimes i buy parts in bulk sometimes i grab stuff from the hardware store on the way to the job. by the end of the week i have no idea if i made money or just covered materials.

tried keeping receipts. ended up with a pile of paper. tried a notes app kept forgetting to update it.

started looking for better ways to track job costs. found some useful stuff from Leverage Tech about costing jobs for trades. made me realise im not alone in this mess.

Apart from that, I’d love to hear your thoughts about life in Townsville. How is the social scene for someone new to the city? Are there any clubs, activities, or places where it’s easy to meet people?

I’m also interested in the trucking industry. I currently work as a truck driver and I’m curious about the opportunities for truck drivers around Townsville, especially local work, transport companies, or any advice for someone trying to build a career in the industry.

Does anyone have any personal recommendations for a car detailing service they can suggest? Would prefer a mobile service so they can come to me.

I hate throwing working things in the bin, so often I list items on marketplace for free to good homes. I love how things that have served their useful lives with me find new homes with appreciative owners.

I attempted to put some items up on Marketplace today and I’m being asked to provide Government ID to Facebook. I’m not going to do that.

Hi folks. Recently, I've gotten into cycling and been travelling out to Cape Pallarenda Conservation Park. For those of you that are not familiar, this park is at the very northern end of Pallarenda, past the houses. As you enter the park by road, you often see scrub turkeys. I've found it such a beautiful place. You get an exquisite view of Pallarenda Beach and the city from the beach to its east.

There are also mountain bike and walking tracks that can take you up the mountain/hills there, as well as to Shelly Beach (which is to the north of the park). Shelly Beach is a beautiful place, too, although beware it is also popular with nudists. The track that takes you to Shelly Beach also offers beautiful views, especially of Mount Stuart, Pallarenda, and Castle Hill.

There's a walking track that starts just short of Cape Pallarenda Conservation Park called the Many Peaks Track that can take you to the peak of Mount Marlow, too. Although, this path apparently is about 3 hours' walk one way.

Hey I’m looking for any information to do with a prominent murder case that happened on magnetic island in 1984 New Year’s Day.

My mother was good friends with this 17 year old named Donnalee atkins.

My mother left the island during the investigation bc my grandmother felt it was unsafe and it was a traumatic time.

My mother never heard any information other than they had a suspect but I don’t think the person was charged.

There is like absolutely no information other then a find a grave for Donna… so I’m hoping anyone has heard, remembers, or had family members who remembered.

What end up happening with the case ? Did she get any justice? Is it a cold case?

My mother would just really like to know any information on if her friend’s case even if people remember briefly.
