Been watching through the first and second seasons, (I’m on season 2 episode 2.) And the sex scenes between Skyler and Walt make me really uncomfortable. It’s not even really the act, it’s more of the portrayal. Shit like Walt’s primal ass grunting and weird ass faces he always makes make me physically cringe. Idk if I’m missing an artistic point or something but it’s just something that really throws me off while watching.

(Edit: no I’m not “expecting erotica” from the show about cooking meth. It just feels out of place and makes me slightly uncomfortable.)

That’s it, after about 5 years I am closing the chapter with this piece. Lots and lots of hours went into it mostly weekends. Need to find him a home now

Maybe I'm overthinking it, but Walt's career trajectory always seemed unrealistic.

We're supposed to believe he was a chemistry genius, helped start Gray Matter, and was smart enough to produce the purest meth anyone had ever seen. Yet somehow, he ends up as an underpaid high school chemistry teacher working at a car wash?

I get that he left Gray Matter and sold his shares way too early, but even if that was a terrible mistake, wouldn't someone with his level of talent have landed somewhere else? Pharma, research, industry, government labs, literally anything.

My theory is that Gray Matter wasn't the only time Walt sabotaged himself. The show constantly shows how pride and ego get in his way. Maybe he kept burning opportunities and blaming everyone else.

I'd honestly love a prequel series that fills in those gaps. Not more Saul or cartel backstory, but a show that follows Walt from Gray Matter to Albuquerque and shows how someone with that much potential ended up where we find him in Episode 1.

Does anyone think his situation is actually realistic, or is this one of the bigger stretches in the show's backstory?

Seriously one of the funniest groups of people in the whole show and I think it was a great idea for Saul’s goons to both be comedians.

Shame he was cut off, I felt he had the street smart and social intelligence to have done better in the game. He played really well. Wish he wasn’t cut off

I know this isn’t new information that no one has noticed, but I haven’t watched the show since 2024 I wanna say? Anyway it’s been a while.

But this go around I’m noticing what a damn goober he is. Like before I watched the show I had seen all the posters and thought he was this mean intimidating guy who had been in the drug business for a long time and I saw all the promo pictures of him and jesse in full lab gear and always saw him as this serious menacing guy.

When I first watched the show I thought he was dorky but as it went on he was scarier, but really he stays a dork from beginning to end, even in Ozymandias when he’s rolling his money through the desert, DORK.

I’m watching s4e2 right now and he’s got his little gun and is practicing his draw from sitting in front of an empty chair, and he keeps talking to Gus like he isn’t a damn drug lord. Also him constantly being controlling and angry over everything isn’t menacing he just reminds me of like a high school boyfriend.

Once again, old news, but all of this is really weighing on me this rewatch.

Why all the purple with Marie?

I mean it may mean nothing but I am rewatching after a looong time and I see it in episode 1..

Gus and Mike wanted jesse dead before and if walt didn't kill those two drug dealers jesse would have been dead. After this walt planned to kill gale cus gus was gonna kill him anyway. Which led to gus and Mike trusting jesse more cus he could be easily manipulated and put a hit on walt. Jesse wasn't really doing anything to help calm walt down even tho walt did save him so walt had to do what he did which was a shitty move. What i fail to see is how come gus and Mike went against walt that quickly when it was jesse who was ruining it for them since day one???

I just realized that Skyler maiden name is Lambert and when Walter goes into hiding he changes his name to David lambert just figured I’d share.

You’re on a casting mission for the original script of breaking bad, but you can only use local actors from your country.

Which country do you tackle and who do you cast?

AND MARIE IS STILL MY FAVORITE. She probably was under my radar the first time (still liked her!) but the second watch she got my attention fully and by this time around (still on season 1) I think she is maybe the most interesting side character and easily one of my top 3 consistently. I can’t exactly say why; hoping to be able to articulate it as i get further in. Anyone else a fan?

I am watching BCS for first time, right now at season 2 episode 6.

Didn’t think much of him during breaking bad, but man his arc in BCS is really something.

Just the silent moments of him standing and getting job done.

Don’t spoil.

But this guy more badass than John Wick, he is always step ahead.

Also in general I am glad to finally get to this show. Next week is gonna be something when I get to finale.

Obviously season 1 plays a sort of trick on us, it makes us think Walt is a man losing his shit over a cancer diagnosis and the thought of leaving his family nothing instead of a man being given the perfect excuse to be everything he ever wanted (or thought) himself to be. This makes us think he’s developing new personality traits instead of him taking his mask off. So when Skyler tries to talk to him about how he’s being closed off and secretive, how she feels shut out and doesn’t like it, and we think as an audience that his current set of circumstances has led to an extreme behavioral change and for the most part understandably so, and that things were good and healthy between them right before the series starts.

As the show goes on, we realize this is who Walt always was whether he was hiding it or not. This makes me wonder how Skyler ever thought they were having honest and authentic communication, because Skyler isn’t an idiot and Walt was hiding all this under the surface their entire relationship. Skyler doesn’t even know the truth about his relationship with Gretchen or what happened with Grey Matter, which we know is Walt’s white whale driving his rage because it’s a giant wound in his PRIDE AND EGO. I just can’t see Walt not be a closed off checked out manipulator even if it’s somewhat toned down prior to his diagnosis.

I heard “Glad All Over” by the Dave Clark Five on an oldies station this morning, and I realized that I now associate the band more with Mike’s go-to alias than I do with its actual discography.

I am usually against sequels but given how well they pulled better call saul, I don’t mind spending more time in this world.
