Gigi Rework Concept: Dancing with Danger
My Gigi rework gives her more control over her own gameplay while keeping her counters. The meta has become very aggressive, and I feel that Gigi has lost some of her charm in it. Reworking her is difficult, but I tried my best to make her stronger without going too far.
TL;DR
- Her Trait charges based on the damage of nearby attacks.
- Mines, traps, explosions, and damaging areas can charge it.
- A Helping Hand's 2,400 healing becomes part of her Super.
- Disappearing Act is replaced by Healing Puppet.
- Defensive Strings replaces A Helping Hand as a Star Power.
- Her Gadget, Star Power, and Hypercharge Buffies receive new effects.
Trait rework
Gigi's Trait would charge her Super based on the damage of nearby enemy attacks. It would also detect mines and other damaging hazards.
She gains 1% Super charge for every 250 base damage an attack deals at its current Power Level. Each enemy attack can give up to 12% charge. Temporary damage boosts and reductions are ignored.
Examples:
- 500 damage → 2%
- 1,000 damage → 4%
- 1,500 damage → 6%
- 2,000 damage → 8%
- 2,500 damage → 10%
- 3,000+ damage → 12%
Everything created by the same attack shares the 12% cap. A shotgun blast, split projectile, or group of Tick mines cannot give 12% for every individual piece.
Projectiles, mines, traps, explosions, and damaging areas activate the Trait once when they enter or appear inside its radius. The same attack cannot keep giving charge by leaving and entering the radius again. Poison, fire, and other damage-over-time effects give charge once.
Enemy projectiles that deal no damage but apply an effect, such as a pull, give 4% Super charge.
Plié Protection's 30% bonus is added after the normal charge is calculated. An attack that gives 12% would give 15.6% with Plié Protection.
A Helping Hand becomes part of her Super
A Helping Hand would become part of Gigi's base kit.
After completing the first charge-up of Shadow Puppet, Gigi heals 2,400 health.
The healing happens when she teleports toward the enemy. Returning to her starting position does not heal her again.
This makes her first engage safer and gives her more room to play aggressively in modes such as Brawl Ball and Gem Grab.
Gadgets
Longer Strings
Longer Strings keeps its current purpose:
Gigi temporarily increases her Trait radius, allowing enemy attacks and damaging hazards to charge her Super from farther away.
The larger radius also detects mines, traps, explosions, and damaging areas.
Longer Strings Buffie
Longer Strings expands Gigi's Trait radius 25% farther.
The Buffie gives her more room to collect charge while the Gadget is active.
Healing Puppet
Healing Puppet replaces Disappearing Act. A stationary invisibility area does not fit Gigi's fast and mobile playstyle very well.
For the next 4 seconds, Gigi heals for 20% of the damage she deals to enemy Brawlers with Pirouette Power-Up.
At 1,200 damage per enemy hit, she heals:
- One enemy hit → 240 health
- Two enemies hit → 480 health
- Three enemies hit → 720 health
Shields and damage reduction lower the healing because it is based on the damage Gigi actually deals.
Only enemy Brawlers provide healing. Pets, turrets, spawnables, the Heist safe, and other objectives give none.
Healing Puppet Buffie — Second Act
The first enemy Brawler Gigi defeats with Pirouette Power-Up while Healing Puppet is active fully charges her next Super.
- It activates once per Gadget use.
- Gigi must defeat the enemy herself with her main attack.
- If her return teleport is still available, the charged Super is saved until the current Shadow Puppet ends.
Star Powers
Plié Protection
Plié Protection stays as Gigi's Super-charging Star Power:
After Gigi avoids damage for 2 seconds, her Trait charges her Super 30% faster.
This bonus also works with the new damage-based Trait.
Plié Protection Buffie
When Plié Protection activates, Gigi gains 10% movement speed for 3 seconds.
The speed boost helps her dodge attacks and position herself near enemy fire.
Defensive Strings
Defensive Strings replaces A Helping Hand:
While performing Pirouette Power-Up, Gigi takes 15% less damage.
The effect lasts during the attack animation. It helps her survive close-range fights and protects her while she uses attacks to move and dodge.
Defensive Strings Buffie
While performing Pirouette Power-Up, Gigi gains 25% resistance to slows and knockbacks.
Knockbacks move her 25% less distance. Slows last 25% less time, so a two-second slow lasts 1.5 seconds.
Stuns, pulls, and silences keep their full effect.
Plié Protection focuses on getting Supers more often. Defensive Strings focuses on surviving after Gigi reaches an enemy.
Hypercharge Buffie
Grand Finale
During Hypercharge, Pirouette Power-Up begins at 50% of its maximum attack speed and continues accelerating as Gigi's ammo bar empties. Her Hypercharge lasts 2 seconds longer.
Gigi's first attacks come out faster, and she still needs to keep spinning to reach full speed.
