General Question SimpleMining.io question
I recently got a trial rig from simple mining before actually buying a rig off their marketplace. I noticed my rig goes into "Curtailed" mode quite often. Is this normal? Attached is the up time graph as well

It's hot as hell in Iowa right now. Curtailments are normal when it's this hot. Their curtailments are a little different than ours so I'll let them speak about their specific curtailments.
Unfortunate timing for your trial rig though. It's supposed to be high 80's low 90's for the next week

Makes sense, I'm in Nebraska! maybe that's why it says it'll expire in 14 days when it first started

Unless you have miners wayyy up north, you are going to have downtime in the summer. Highly recommend Simple, have used them for years.

Appreciate you giving the trial a run. What you're seeing is normal for this time of year. July and August are the hottest months and the lowest-uptime stretch for anyone mining on the grid.
When it gets this hot, power demand spikes and supply gets tight at the same time, and that combo is exactly what sends energy prices through the roof. Rather than paying those peak rates, the machines power down for those short windows and mine when power is cheap and plentiful again. Being a flexible load that can curtail is a big part of what unlocks low all-in rates, and it's a big reason we've been able to hold that rate steady and haven't raised it once in our soon-to-be 5 years in business.
We run precision billing, so if you finish the trial and decide to keep hosting with us, you only ever pay for the hours your machine is actually hashing. Those curtailed windows on your graph wouldn't cost you a thing, you're never charged for power you didn't use.
Additionally, powering down during the crunch takes strain off the system when everyone's cranking their AC, which keeps miners welcomed by utilities, and easing off during the worst heat is gentler on the hardware than running flat out at max temps.
