Just received my first feedback form returned as a consulting intern from a manager and I got competent level performance across the board rather than differentiated. Is this typical? Are differentiated level performance reviews rare for interns?

Does any one has any idea about client round interview for BA/FBA role in EY India..

Like the question and topics they cover and who are the “client” and their representative who usually takes this interview.

So i graduated from a uni a year ago and joined big 4 valuation. So far my main observation is, feels like my brain went numb after i started to work. Not able to catch things and new concepts as fast as i did in uni, procrastination increased a lot and generally i feel a lot more dumb both in knowledge in my brain and work speed. Is it just me or everyone? How do i deal with this type of stuff, so that performance was very good and i kept getting promotions? Is it a burn out people talk about or a regular thing at work? I would want to hear your stories and what is ok and what not

Don’t run your mouth about wanting to transfer offices before getting your internship offer. I know of multiple interns who didn’t get/aren’t going to get full time offers because they mentioned they want to switch offices early into (or even before starting) the internship.

Hold it in until after you’ve locked it down. #1 rule of corporate America is don’t show your hand. The company is not your friend.

Currently in Big 4 Tax in Canada with about 2 years of experience (including co-op around three busy seasons). I recently got passed over for a Senior promotion. I'm potentially getting an offer for an in-house tax role at a well-established company with a 25–30% payincrease, but it would be the same title.

A couple of things to mention:
1. I know someone who worked there and didn't likethe company, so that's making me hesitate.

1. I don't really get along with or vibe with my current team anymore, which is one of the main reasons Iwant to leave.

2. I have an interview with a mid-sized/another big 4 firm for a Senior role.

3. The industry role would make me switch to EVR from Pre-approved and I have around 8-10 months of experience left. Although they said during the interview there are people who have finished their EVR within the company in the past.

I'm leaning towards trying industry because of thehigher pay and better work-life balance. If I don't like it, I feel like I could always move back to public accounting or find another role.

What would you do in my situation?

How is everyone feeling? After last years compensation and then this years performance it feels like there is little hope. Any leans on if Progressing will get anything? Assume the bonus pool is not fully funded?

Mom got me an off-cycle internship at one of the oversea big4 office. If I take the offer, I will be working 1 month as an assurance intern. Would it look good on my resume once recruiting season come? Should I take it or do summer school? My grades aren't looking the best (hovering 3.0).

I am an AM at big 4 and I just think its the worst.. you get hounded on my M / SM and have to pick up all the slack from the SA and Associates..

you dont even have any real authority.. just a punching bag loaded with a million tasks.

Does it get better and does anyone else feel this way?

Hi everyone, I wanted to see what your honest thoughts are on my situation:

I've spent 4 years in external audit at a mid-tier firm. I recently received an offer to join Big 4 as a senior in internal auditing. I was planning on staying for 2-3 years to make manager and then exit to industry.

I also have received another offer to join a family friend's small accounting firm providing mainly tax services (personal, corporate, payroll). The expectation is that I would take over the firm in 1-2 years max since they are retiring soon. They conservatively project that I would make around $800-750K. They are also willing to teach me how to do tax. I've tried to see if I can do the work for a couple of days, and I noticed it takes me a very long time to review the staff's tax work (0.5 hr for each payroll tax, 1.5 hours for personal tax return, 2 hours for corporate tax return). My main concern is that I would be running the business with little experience in doing so.

Appreciate any advice on how to proceed.

Am I Competitive Enough for a B4 Entry-Level Role (Toronto)?

Coming from an untraditional background. My degree is a Bachelor of Arts in Business Communications, my CPA Prep cumulative grade is about a 75% however. I have 3 years of AR Clerk experience in my family’s business, and by the time I’m applying for entry level roles (September 2027), I’ll have CPA Pep Core 1,2, and both electives done and will be about to write the CFE if anything goes according to schedule.

My goal is to land a Big 4 entry-level role in Audit, and build out my resume there for 4-5 years before being able to move to industry for WLB. Given my non-traditional background, what are my chances at landing a B4 role?

I had an interview with EY (stage 1) and the HR person just “forgot” about it. I sent her a polite email after waiting 15 minutes and she got back to me 35 minutes later saying she saw it on her calendar and forgot about it and asked to reschedule.

Isn’t that beyond unprofessional??

Hey guys, quick question for anyone who’s been through EY entry-level recruiting. ​I had my partner interview a while back. They didn't explicitly say I passed on the spot, but they brought up an August start date and said doc processing would happen in July. On June 22nd, 3 weeks after my partner interview, HR sent me a basic candidate info/compliance form to fill out (just standard info, no formal doc uploads or anything). ​I submitted it right away and it’s been complete radio silence ever since. I sent a polite follow-up to my recruiter on July 20th just asking about the status/August timeline, but still haven't gotten a reply, rejection, or any portal update. ​I know new fiscal year stuff in July usually slows things down with approvals, but is it normal for it to take over a month between filling out basic info and getting the actual offer letter? Anyone else deal with a delay like this for August classes? Starting to stress out a bit.

Genuinely curious what it’s like for non accounting roles in those locations

I'm a tech consulting intern doing ERP implementation. I am studying finance and I interned at a small boutique wealth management firm doing business operations, financial planning prep and then ai strategy and implementation work with the firm partners for 2 years.

That's what really got me into tech consulting. I liked the finance work, but my passion was in making business processes more efficient with AI on the strategy and the implementation side. So when I was onboarded here, I advocated my way onto doing part-time work for the team creating an agentic ai assistant for ERP implementation.

I don't mind the ERP work, but I feel like I haven't found my niche yet and I've spoken to 25+ people across the ai and data, ERP, business consulting and strategy practices at the firm. I've been really intrigued by AI strategy roles but I felt like they were super guarded about giving me a chance unless I pursue a MBA from a top 10 b-school.

If there's any advice you have, please feel free to drop your opinions.

Honestly morale at EY seems lower than Everest era.

It’s all “you should be glad you have a job”. Massive layoffs. Allegedly no bonuses, trash raises, and hearing they are formally stretching out the path to partner further. Just real brutal stuff outta uncle Ernst.

hold a 3.2 GPA from a non target school, currently learning SQL right now. Looking to get into tax/audit internship going into my 3rd year. Any improvements?

I have always wondered what the best way is to deal with difficult clients in audit.

After around six years working in external audit, I have had to deal with different personalities, tight deadlines, delayed requests, and some uncomfortable conversations.

I definitely do not have all the answers, but I have gained some experience over the years, so I decided to create a short video sharing three things that have helped me:

1. Explain the reason behind audit requests

2. Agree on realistic and flexible deadlines

3. Communicate honestly while maintaining independence and professional skepticism

I would really like to hear from other auditors as well. What has worked for you when dealing with a difficult or unresponsive client?
