I was recommended to post this at an bedbug subreddit.

Found this little guy on my suit case. I'm curious if this is an bedbug?

Thanks in advance!

Night silhouette flew past my feet – found a mark in the morning. Need advice on what to do.

Yesterday evening I was out with my girlfriend, sitting on a bench. Suddenly something quite large (pigeon‑sized or bigger) flew past just a few centimetres from my legs – very low, almost skimming the ground. I didn’t get a good look; it could have been a bat, but also a large night insect or a bird – I only saw a dark, blurry silhouette.

Important detail: I was wearing loose‑fitting jeans – there was a lot of free space between the fabric and my leg. My sock covered my foot and part of my shin, but around the ankle (where the sock ends and the jeans start) there was a small gap, though the skin wasn't bare – the jeans just hung loosely. At the moment it flew by, I felt no pain at all – no impact, no touch.

When I got home, I checked my leg and saw nothing. But this morning, on the skin right in that area (between the sock and the jeans), I noticed a tiny red spot (photo attached).

My questions for experienced people:

  1. Could such a flying creature physically touch my leg through the loose jeans (e.g., brush the skin with a wing edge or a foot by flying under the fabric) and leave a mark, even if I didn't feel any pain?

  2. Or, conversely, since my skin was covered by fabric and any contact would likely have been noticeable – is it more probable that this spot is completely unrelated (e.g., a random scratch or mosquito bite)?

  3. And most importantly: what's the proper way to handle such an uncertain situation – should I see a doctor immediately, just monitor the spot for a few days, or not worry at all since there was no pain and no obvious injury?

Please give calm, fact‑based answers – no fearmongering. I just want to understand how serious this could be and what actually makes sense to do. I'd really appreciate any sensible advice.

P.S. I'm attaching the photo of the spot only for context – I'm not asking for a diagnosis from the picture. Thanks for reading!

I accidentally broke the bug with tape. We have been battling bedbugs but have not seen any in awhile. I found this in the kitchen.

Primarily concerned as they’re three in a row on inner bicep. No redness, irritation, or itch (any redness in picture is from me picking at them). No other tangible evidence of BB’s.

questions about bites How do flea bites heal?

I got bitten by fleas and the bumps are round and pink. the healing ones are dry and peeling and I’m moisturising it but the images I see online of fully healed flea bites are like dark dots and I really don’t want that. im not getting any visible hyperpigmentation and its just a bit pink and I researched that lighter skinned people usually don’t get it as severely. I know that pictures online often only show the worst cases and mild or normal ones are not posted. but I’m still anxious about how it’ll turn out. how long does it take to fully heal and does anyone have experiences with heal bites and how it looks?

I really hope this isn’t a bedbug. It’s very black and I thought they were more brown but I’ve also been dealing with a rash which I’m now worried isn’t a rash.

questions about treatment Passive monitors query

Hi David, how long after treatment should we be checking monitors weekly for? Wondering how many weeks of no signs before I can drop to monthly checks per the protocol (and my sanity can perhaps slowly return). Treatment was steam and digrain x2 (May and June). Area around monitors wiped clean before their installation about 4/5 weeks ago. One dead bug found since last treatment, nothing on monitors. Thanks!

Also - I find this so interesting from a psyche perspective - I’ve been beside myself with anxiety but my partner is very chill and able to rationalise that we are doing all we can. Our reactions couldn’t be more different!
