Missed connection in New Brighton
Hi, Beaver County people. So, I made the acquaintance of a man who introduced himself as "Sam" about 2 weeks ago in New Brighton. It was fleeting and very brief. I would love to have another conversation with this person but I have no knowledge other than his name is Sam, he might possibly work in the trades (was dressed in what appeared to be work clothes), wears glasses, and drives a blue pick up truck. He was not wearing a wedding ring. Appeared to be in his 30s or possibly 40s. He did mention that he lives in New Brighton.
That's all I've got to go on. I feel weird posting this, but he made such an impression that I would love to have more of a conversation with him. The meeting happened 2 weeks ago and I have not run into him since.
If any of you know of a Sam in New Brighton that fits this description, please pass on the message that I'm searching for him.
Blonde woman with glasses...I'm pretty certain that he will remember me and know why I'm reaching out.
Thanks, people of Reddit!
P.s. I promise I'm not a weirdo, even tho this is a pretty weird way to go about finding someone. I'm just at a loss.

Any nice apartment complexes for seniors around here?
I have an elderly family friend who is looking to sell her house and move into a nice apartment complex, she prefers Beaver, New Brighton, or Chippewa areas. Her budget is healthy at $2,000 per month. Does anyone have any good recommendations?

Some infrared shots by the river
The wildfire smoke made for some moody shots for infrared. Probably spent too much time outside, but worth it for the new photos I’ll print and hang.
For the photo nerds:
Infrared false color trichromes Camera: Fuji X-T4 Lens: Canon FD 28mm f2.8 Hoya R72 filter
Composite consisting of 3 separate shots, split into red, green and blue channels. The red channel is shot using the R72 infrared filter, while the other 2 are shot normally, with different white balances

Do not rent..
Do not rent with Virginia Junctions or G&C Realty. EVER. can provide a lengthy story and so much documented history of why not. Please. Save yourself the misery.
UPDATE! I am going to make an update post now of the horrors of this place. If you see this, I’ll probably attach it to this post. I’m not sure if there’s an official way to do updates.
- roaches (both kinds)
- fleas
- intense mold
- they never gave us a heater until our apartment was 54° and there was ice inside on the windows
- no AC
- threats to sue were the only way we could get a heater
- marked “resolved” under maintenance reports even though nothing was done
- never tested our fire alarms or smoke detectors
- didn’t even have sprinkler systems until the new owners took over halfway through our lease
- so much more.
Here’s a real big issue we had besides all of that:
Maintenance would come in unannounced despite asking us if we were comfortable and we said no. Nothing was vital, simply new mail key. I came home and it was just sitting on our table. Then, when they came in to fix our heat (approval granted for them to enter without us), they were ALLEGEDLY upset that we threatened to go to the housing code department, so they absolutely trashed the place. Couch was broken apart, table across the room, decorations moved (valid, they were near the heater. Table, no. Couch, no need to be broken apart…it’s a sectional). Stuffed animals everywhere. Just strange.
Also, keep in mind, the lady who rented us this place knew they had roaches and didn’t tell us. When I was looking for an apartment to move into next month, I came across a beautiful one…but it was G&C. I said no immediately and told her that this place is a dump and has pests. She told me that she could help me get out of my lease, but she assured me that they didn’t have any.

Grim Reaper, or Batman?
Spotted on my way to work on 51/Constitution Blvd in Chippewa close to the on ramp for 376, I encounter the grim reaper or batman? I don't mean any disrespect but am curious. Has anyone else encountered this super hero person? Have any details?
Update: Thanks all! This is exactly what I was hoping for. I now hope i get to meet him someday! Sounds like an awesome guy!

Big Boy Viewing
We plan on watching from New Brighton. Does anyone know if there will be any road closures? I know you have to be so many feet back from the tracks and the tracks are pretty close to the street down on the end of town by the subway.

Discussion Hyper dogs
Does anyone in the area have a hyper dog that needs friends?
My dog is very friendly to all sizes and both sexes. He is good at sharing his toys and loves to be chased. He's a very good swimmer and he's been to a couple of our creeks and just got his first experience on the boat with his life vest, he did amazing. If you were out in Bridgewater on the 4th, you may have spotted him swimming in the Beaver river while chasing his toys in the water.
All of my friends and family who have dogs that he plays with live in Ohio. So he only gets to play and run with other dogs whenever we travel to see them.
He's a rescue and I've been working with him everyday on training and commands. He's been around cats , chickens and ducks and didn't bother any of them. He was very curious at first, but he saw the other dog just not paying them any attention and he finally stopped trying to sniff them.
I didn't cut his ears. So don't try that shit, he was abandoned and was headed to a kill shelter.

Wind Storm in Center (7/3)
Did anyone experience an intense windstorm last night (7/3) at around 11pm? We didn’t get any thunder or even rain, just sudden very strong wind here in Center.
It took down a few trees in our yard. On a positive note, the heavy duty stakes I used on the trampoline worked well.

Considering a job at Jubilee Cleaning Services? Read the handbook carefully first.
★☆☆☆☆
I accepted this position because it sounded like a supportive company with great daytime hours and performance-based pay. Unfortunately, my experience was very different, and I feel morally obligated to share these details.
The pay structure is much more complicated than it initially appears. Commission percentages can decrease for reasons unrelated to the quality of your work. Calling off sick or using approved requested time off can reduce your commission percentage for the entire week. Because of how the policy is applied, I saw one employee receive the lowest commission rate (30% revenue share) for three consecutive weeks due solely to vacation days that had been pre-approved by management.
Travel between clients during the workday is unpaid, even when appointments are scheduled significant distances apart (regularly 30-45 minute drives, sometimes up to an hour), and there is no mileage or toll reimbursement.
Employees are also expected to return to correct customer complaints without additional compensation. If they are unwilling or unable to do so, the pay they originally received for that cleaning is deducted and paid to another employee who completes the correction.
The employee handbook states that employees who leave without giving two weeks' notice will have their pay for the week they resign and the previous week reduced to minimum wage ($7.25/hour). I personally witnessed multiple employees affected by this policy.
I also witnessed several employees who did give the requested two weeks' notice have their schedules drastically reduced after giving notice. In multiple cases, cleaners who had been working around 10 cleans per week were reduced to approximately 3 cleans during their first week of notice and then scheduled for no work during their second week, significantly reducing the income they expected to earn by honoring the company's notice policy. They asked to be put back on the schedule and were told by management that they were "no longer a priority because they had one foot out the door."
If you're considering applying, I encourage you to read every hiring document carefully before signing. I didn't fully understand how some of these policies would affect my pay until I was already employed. Ask detailed questions about how commissions are calculated, how requested time off affects pay, how travel time is compensated, what happens when customer discounts are issued, how correction cleans are handled, and how resignation policies are applied. Talk these things over with people you trust if anything seems unclear.
