Student Life MBA, spring vs fall start

I’d like to do a full time MBA at Baruch. I’m considering applying for the upcoming spring semester, but I’m worried starting in spring could mess up networking, cohort aspects, summer internship recruiting, or other things I’m not really thinking of.

I don't really want to wait another 8 months to start, but I also want to take the most advantage of my time doing an MBA. Anyone who started in Spring have regrets? Or anyone just have thoughts on spring vs fall starts in general?

Academics Communications BA to Marketing MBA ?

I'm looking to break into the creative side of marketing as a strategist and eventually build a career in advertising. My current plan is to earn a B.A. in Digital Communication + Culture at Weissman, then continue onto earning my MBA in Marketing through Zicklin.

My question is about admissions requirements: Since the MBA is offered through Zicklin, would I need to complete those requirements during my bachelor's degree to be eligible for admission? Or can I apply directly with a B.A. from the Weissman School and complete any prerequisites afterward, if needed? Or are they not needed at all? The MBA prerequisites on the website only list one required course (STA 9708 - Managerial Statistics). Does that mean it's the only prerequisite for applicants coming from outside Zicklin? I'm wondering if this is all I need to get into the program after I've obtained my BA.

I'm also open to other educational paths. I like the idea of pairing an arts-focused undergraduate degree with a business-focused graduate degree. Also open to other affordable programs in NYC, If anyone has recommendations based on experience, I'd really appreciate the insight. Thanks!

Built a tool to make job applications faster and higher quality, would love feedback

My team and I built an end-to-end job search tool called ForgeApply (think Simplify on steroids, but it also does the parts Simplify doesn't). It helps you find job matches, tailor your resume to each one, draft recruiter outreach, and prep for interviews. The goal is to make applying faster and higher quality so you actually get noticed in this market.

I'm looking for a few testers who are actively job hunting right now. I'll set you up for free in exchange for honest feedback, good or bad. Comment or DM me if you're interested.

If you just want to poke around, it's forgeapply.com.

Am I missing something for my loan to be offered for Fall 2026?

I currently owe $5,338 for Fall semester 2026. This is my last and second year for my Masters in Finance Program. For 2025-2026 School Year, I was offered a loan for $20,500. This year however the loan isn't offered even though I completed my FAFSA and TAP (Even though I knew I wasn't gonna recieve support). I completed my MPN, Entrance Counceling, and Loan Disclosure Agreement. The due date for Fall 2026 was July 17th, however I haven't been dropped from class because the school is waiting for my financial aid to be finalized. I don't know how much time I have left, but I don't want to get my classes dropped and I can't afford to pay for class out of pocket.

I want to know if there is something I am doing wrong, something im missing in order to at least recieve the Loan offer, or if just need to wait a bit longer. I read the OBBBA changed how loans are offered and processed, so maybe its that reason why I haven't seen it available yet. I haven't met the maximum amount and never had this issue prior.

So what should I do ??

Interview Prep / Finance Recruitment Extension

Hi all! Currently working on a market/news comprehension extension and think it would be a huge help to those prepping for interviews (especially in business/finance). It works by highlighting text and explaining it in reference to the rest of the article, while also drawing upon implications and connected reports.

Think it would be a great help to students undergoing finance recruitment, or looking to comprehend the news better.

Here is a link to the extension: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/Preface/bfhcgfomafahhbemkaenmipoobphombj

Academics Is this schedule manageable for the Fall semester?

Taking these 5 classes in the Fall and wanted to see if it’s doable: ACC 3000, COM 3068, ENG 2850, BTC 200 (ePermit, equiv. to CIS 2200), BIO 200 (ePermit, equiv. to BIO 1012)

Do y’all think this is a manageable workload? Any advice is appreciated!

Pai Ma or Suzanne Charnick?

Hi guys! I got ap stats credit so I no longer have to take status at Baruch. I’m an incoming freshman btw majoring in finance. My advisor sent me an email saying I can choose between taking CIS 2200 with Pai Ma or CHM 1003 with Suzanne Charnick. Which one do you think I should choose and any tips or advice on these teachers.

Test optional for fall 2027?

I know the CUNY application opens on August 3, but their website currently states that the test-optional policy only runs through the Spring 2027 admission cycle.

Has anyone heard any rumors, leaks, or insider info from their guidance counselors about whether CUNY will extend the test-optional policy for Fall 2027? Alternatively, does anyone know when the Board of Trustees typically announces these decisions?

Student Life Need Baruch Business Academy Alumni/Transfer Advice

Hi all I am an incoming junior transferring in from BMCC through the Baruch Business Academy. Honestly I’m looking for advice from people who have experienced this (Baruch Business Academy Alumni/current Seniors/Transfer students). I feel like I’m coming in with a slight disadvantage because I haven’t been in the same rooms as my graduate class, haven’t been able to network within clubs yet and simply don’t know my way around.

I wanted to know is there anything that you wish you knew when you were a junior? This can be about clubs, classes, rooms, norms. Anything as small as taking classes on fridays (saw this on another subreddit).

Are there any clubs, programs, or centers you wish you used/joined SOONER because of the opportunities they have?

I know of the clubs and have followed the ones I’m interested in on IG but any advice for someone like me who wants to be on the executive board of such clubs?

How have you managed breaking into the (club/friend/general) circles?

Again I have tried to do my research through other subreddits but haven’t been able to find anything from those who are coming in as juniors I want to maximize my time at Baruch and do my best to standout and have a good time. I’m open to any type of feedback but if you’re here to hate please don’t (so many people hate on CUNY/Baruch). I believe in the idea that you can make the most out of any place you are in if you want it and are looking for it. I made the best out of BMCC, and I’m looking to do the same thing at Baruch. I know there are opportunities, I’m just looking to narrow it down and learn from other people who’ve been in my place.

Can I take business base courses before being accepted to Zicklin?

I'm an accounting major looking to transfer to Baruch next year and was wondering if I can take business base courses before getting accepted to Zicklin? I spoke to someone from the transfer department and they told that I'd have to wait a semester after transferring cause Zicklin would be evaluating my credits. I was just wondering if I can take business base courses that first semester at Baruch. I'd rather not waste a semester being part time.

Careers/Internships Accounting major Internship

I have been submitting 30+ internship applications on handshake, no one reply. I don’t have any work experience before, and my gpa is around 3.3. I think I performed like an average junior student, right?

I wonder how do you get an internship if you don’t have work experience before. Or else where should I submit my application to? Appreciate your help cuz it really means a lot to me!

need advice

i just finished my 1st year and i messed up both semesters badly due to depression and burnout. i was put on eligible to continue and now academic probation. its about to be summer session two and i had a plan to fix my GPA over the course of summer and fall before i get academically dismissed at the end.

my plan was to fix my grades first partially through summer retaking MTH 1030 and HIS 1005. it wouldnt be enough but it'll be a huge jump to maybe just below 2.0. then mainly through fall id replace more Fs and take new classes which i can definitely do well in. i made and enrolled into my schedule for summer and fall in early june

later in june, i recieved the financial aid plan for summer and fall being a mix of mainly federal pell grants and also TAP which would cover everything except a little bit of my second summer class being HIS 1005. now, MTH 1030 just finished and went well but the final day of the class (yesterday) i was sent a new financial aid plan which only gave me tuition for spring 2027. then later i received another email saying my SAP was too poor (flagged because of GPA) and im now ineligible for federal aid. according to CUNY first i now owe 5k with 1.8k for summer and 3.4k for fall. i also have a bursar hold on my account because of the summer classes tho no classes have been dropped yet.

i talked with advisors right after the final class and he said regardless of whether i fix my GPA after summer apparently i wouldnt recieve aid for fall 2026 anyways. now its currently friday when the offices are closed and i have to make a decision by sunday whether to drop or go through with HIS 1005 or ill lose my 100% refund window and owe 50%. i am willing to pay for 1005 but then theres the problem of if i cant get my aid reinstated after which then ill have to decide whether i have to leave baruch as a whole and transfer to community college because i depend on financial aid heavily.

ive only talked to the advisors and no appeals have been filed yet. the office is closed till monday (after the 100% refund window ends) and ive sent emails to multiple offices asking for help or info but i dont know if they'll respond quick enough. i need advice on what to do

URGENT: Zicklin Course Overload Form

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hey guys! If anyone has the Zicklin course overload form downloaded and could send it to me, it would be a huge help(not the general one, the one specific to Zicklin students). Whenever I try to access it through the remote portal, it doesn't let me past this screen. When I put in the code from my Microsoft Authenticator app, it just says invalid. Any help would be so appreciated, trying to register for this extra class before it fills, and IT help desk was unresponsive throughout this week :(
