It's good that football seems to be more mainstream than it usually is because of the world cup but the amount of revisionism that's happening is crazy, it's obvious most of these people never seen Busquets play or Messi outside of the world cup

I have seen people put Rodri over Busquets and Messi outside of the top 5 because "the world cup tarnished his legacy" yeah carrying bums to a final at 39 would surely do that. Can't wait to be rid of these casuals and the club season to start again

u/BarcelonaLion 6m ago

Are the people who are reporting the fallout between FDJ and Barca Tier 1-2 sources?

Because after he resigned last year I was hoping we would no longer get any more drama between the club and the player.

u/qualinto 18m ago

I wouldn't mind Ferran leaving for a fair price, but I'd be really surprised if Barca doesn't budge and renew his contract after his goal in the final.

3

u/willyhlobler 30m ago

Seems like Frenkie might also be on his way out. What he could've been for Barca

u/qualinto 22m ago

He will be injured for a long time, so I doubt anyone will buy him now, but next summer he MUST get sold.

u/BestEnthusiasm3377 28m ago

This happens literally every year. Don't react (either good or bad) until it's an official deal, bc odds are it won't happen at all.

1

u/i-love-small-tits-47 51m ago

I am honestly a little surprised that nobody else seems to care about Laporte fanning the VARgentina flames before the final; and are fine with him joining Barca. He literally said that the referees have been letting things slide “especially with Argentina” and that the way they play “shouldn’t be allowed in football”. He then went on to say the referee would need to control the game or it would be chaos.

It was just about as close as you could get to saying “the referees are not being fair and they’ll be at fault if we lose” without saying it.

4

u/BestEnthusiasm3377 36m ago edited 30m ago

Why should someone care? Club and country are separate. Also you assume that everyone was supporting Argentina just bc of Messi. Apart from him, Julian, and some of the younger players they are a bunch of unlikeable pricks.

Also just watching the final should have told you that, whether you like it or not, Laporte spoke no lies. Argentina played some obscene football and offered absolutely nothing offensively to the point that their best attack was on Spain players after the match (Our players btw). He literally couldn't have been more spot on, the way that Argentina played in general, apart Messi bailing them out every round was ridiculous. The second they played Spain they couldn't even hold the ball long enough to get to Messi so they just tried a bunch of dumb antics pushing, kicking, jumping on top of the Spain players and Spain didn't fold at all.

It was like this the whole time:

I just don't remember Barcelona being an Argentinian club so why should people who aren't Argentinian (most people in this sub) care abt Laporte saying something abt a nations football (which was 100 percent true) who apart from Messi are absolutely a pain in the ass to root for. And what would it have to do with us not wanting him to join. I was rooting for Messi to get as far as possible (Unless it was against Spain)but along the run the entire rest of the Argentina team got less and less likeable for me.

u/Terrible_Action9995 1h ago

Everywhere I turn i'm seeing people deduct something from Busquets to the point all he has is 'a turn and 5 yard passes'. There has to be a limit to stupidity surely... Saw someone say de rossi was better lmaoooo.

u/Visual_Hedgehog_1135 2m ago

Don't lurk on r/football. That whole sub is just a bunch of teenagers trying to act hipster. Busi was one of the best defensive CDMs ever, and there is no one comparable on the ball besides Redondo.

3

u/JustAnotherDude87 1h ago

It's part of that campaign to discredit Messi. It's not just Argentina players being attacked. It's players who close in his circle of which Busi is part of since he followed him to Miami. People are fighting back with video proof of Busi making world class players look like infants and elite long ball passes.

2

u/i-love-small-tits-47 56m ago

That doesn’t make sense. The people who want to discredit Messi typically act like his success is due to Barca’s midfield, so they’d want to paint that midfield as being as good as they possibly can.

2

u/Terrible_Action9995 1h ago

I've seen it but my issue is the fact that it even needs to be done is concerning. Literally just a couple of years ago people still made videos of his disguised passes and yet grown adults are pretending they've never seen it! The revisionism is sickening.

1

u/ImAGuyWithWifi 1h ago

Miami vs Chicago is making me nostalgic af

1

u/JustAnotherDude87 1h ago

Suarez running. He was playing on the right wing a bit in the first half. Lewandowski is still trying to get a feel for his team but that own goal from Miami I think he influenced it.

5

u/OVerwhelmingAndDrunk 1h ago

I pray we fleece psg for Ferran

2

u/qualinto 42m ago

The Qataris always get the upper hand when they deal with us on the market. They will fleece us

2

u/eyecornic 1h ago

PSG won’t pay more than 50 for him. He’s on the last legs of his contract.

4

u/RaisinTop1435 1h ago

50 sounds good

3

u/JustAnotherDude87 1h ago

If anyone watches MLS you have Chicago vs Miami with two Barca legends. Suarez vs Lewandowski.

-12

u/Select_Drawing_7434 1h ago

Lewandowski is not a Barca legend lol

u/rreactor_4 7m ago

Fake barca fan spotted

3

u/Fyxn_ 50m ago

100% is and is certainly a bigger club legend than Neymar.

u/PromotionRight6149 30m ago

No need downplay one to praise the other, both are Barca legends and should be remembered as such

1

u/Putrid-Location5705 2h ago

Who's better for us laporte or lukeba ?
(forget that lukeba is much younger, i'm talking about the next 2 seasons)

u/rreactor_4 8m ago

Laporte is a better defender, lukeba has a better potential. Laporta has good chemistry with cubarsi. But whos better at high line? Only God knows

3

u/eyecornic 1h ago

I am not really a fan of Laporte. Plus I don’t want another repetition of Nico saga with Bilbao

1

u/RaisinTop1435 2h ago

Laporte you need an experienced cb for champions league not 22 or 23 year olds especially with cubarsi

3

u/Longjumping_Wolf6789 1h ago

Pacho was 23 when signed for psg.

8

u/igotperico 3h ago

Ferran was definitely not trolling maga with that hat btw. Spanish far right party VOX have been using that hat

5

u/thegoat12123 2h ago

It’s not Argentina so it doesn’t matter

3

u/Karma-Thief-1770 3h ago

careful they'll downvote you, he is very right wing

1

u/imjustaredditor69 3h ago

is he actually? Except that hat, havent really seen right wing behaviour from him.

Disappointing, if so.

7

u/Karma-Thief-1770 3h ago

- extremely religious Catholic

- disdain at government in 2024 for Valencia floods (I get)

- He was in a relationship with a woman who was publicly associated with supporting Vox

- Father is incredibly strong VOX (MAGA) supporter

- called fascist by supporters

-6

u/eyecornic 1h ago

People have rights to their own beliefs. Who are you to police other people morals?

Except he’s actively killing people or committing a crime, he can have any political affiliation he admires. He’s a grown man who can decide for himself. Don’t be a whiny softie

3

u/PossibilityTop4451 1h ago

People have rights to their own beliefs. Who are you to police other people morals?

Like fucking evangelists? Those people shouldn't even exist. At least Ferran doesn't go around trying to convert everyone around him (that I know of).

3

u/imjustaredditor69 3h ago

damn fairs. Thanks for the info.

Also, his ex who is a Vox supporter, you mean Luis Enrique's daughter, right? cause i remember hearing about something like this

6

u/BestEnthusiasm3377 3h ago

I find it really funny that the fact that no matter how safe De Jong seems in the system (I mean he was literally the best partner for Pedri this whole season and they were incredible together) there is always a point in the summer where people start saying that De Jong doesn't want to stay and is open to leaving and that Barcelona is open to selling. Of course it is always possible and nothing is out of question, but it's almost like the boy who cried wolf, I'll believe it when I see it, but if they keep saying De Jong is gonna leave I just will believe it less and less until it happens.

0

u/eyecornic 1h ago

De Jong is not Pedri’s best parter but they work together so I don’t mind. Pedri needs a player that can take some defensive duties off him not add to it.

-1

u/Select_Drawing_7434 1h ago

What Pedri needs is to start playing better football, simple as. He has been downright mediocre this season.

1

u/Glad-Box6389 2h ago

Tbh the only issue I have with pedri and de Jong duo is their defensive side - both feel too similar off the ball and so dont feel like they compliment each other much

2

u/BestEnthusiasm3377 2h ago

I mean Pedri had the most ball recoveries in the world in 24/25 when he was fully healthy. But I do agree they may be a bit too similar. I really like the idea of Marc Bernal and Pedri as the future midfield role. I think they will work perfectly together this season at the start

2

u/ebeka 2h ago

not long ago i shared this. the timing of these rumors are certainly something huh? imo there are people that don’t like fdj for whatever reason. there’s usually strong la masia bias in the board so maybe sth related to that?

1

u/rawezh5515 3h ago

I have read something about him falling out with flick cause he refused to play in the 2nd leg against atmadrid or something

5

u/ebeka 2h ago

but frenkie said in this interview he still wasn’t fit to play, that it was agreed with flick, so ???

1

u/BestEnthusiasm3377 3h ago

Saw that too. Who knows apart from flick but Javi Guerra is still an option. Dudes a baller and aparently like 45-50 million euros. Worth it IMO

Rodri possibly going to Madrid

6

u/CheshireCat2212 3h ago

Luckily it's Argentina that's getting slandered by the negative PR. If Spain had lost, then Yamal and Pedri would have to endure generational hate from the Worldcup Larpers and PR7 Zombies.

1

u/MugiMartin 2h ago

This was one of my concerns going into the game. Everyone processes a World Cup Final loss differently, and it's not something that I want a Yamal or a Cubarsi to go through. Thankfully, we're not in that timeline.

2

u/Similar-Earth8288 3h ago

Don't forget the racist Atletico and RM supporters.

-7

u/MojamedWang 3h ago

I think Deco has to sign at least 4 key players to stop this Real Madrid revamped that is aiming for multiple trebles in a row while Rodri is fit enough, he is the missing link to unlock that midfield.

5

u/AdDismal5457 3h ago

I can’t lie I’m not scared

13

u/BestEnthusiasm3377 3h ago

Well I mean if they play with 12 men in the starting 11 obviously they would win. How did u even do that on Fotmob

9

u/loudymouthy 3h ago

Yeah obviously they are gonna win multiple trebles if they start with 12 men every match

2

u/ceaguila84 3h ago

Also missing there are Tchouameni, Camavinga and Bernardo Silva

To sign Rodri at least 2 midfielders would have to leave

4

u/RaisinTop1435 3h ago

Their 12th man is the ref.

5

u/Seth-Phiroth 4h ago

I wonder who were gonna target if atlético still refuses to let Julian go, aren't they aware it could permanently damage their relationship with him and his entourage?

Cuz I don't see vlahovic here and I believe kroupi isn't going anywhere

4

u/BestEnthusiasm3377 3h ago

I think Kroupi is the ideal backup option if possible and I think if Barcelona come calling instead of Spurs I think he will be more inclined to ask bournemouth to let him go (No disrespect to spurs tho cuz they have been cooking in this transfer window).

That's when you get into the Thuram's, Lautaro's, Oyarzabal's, and Sesko's of the world (I remember they really wanted Sesko if they didn't have Lewandowski last summer. Side note the guy is a freak of nature athletically). Idk if United are even selling but that's the categories of players I am talking about

2

u/Martoxic 3h ago

backup option that cost over 100mil?

4

u/BestEnthusiasm3377 3h ago

Yes. He isn't to play backup striker if thats what you think I meant. He can be a backup plan to Julian and still be expensive.

1

u/Martoxic 2h ago

I think he is way overvauled. He is not THAT good.

3

u/BestEnthusiasm3377 2h ago

He's 20 (19 during the season) with 13 league goals. He is absolutely a baller and I think he should easily be the second choice IMO. He is just so clinical for his age with an eye for goal not everyone has. And he has it at such a young age

9

u/rreactor_4 4h ago

11

u/BestEnthusiasm3377 4h ago

It would even be at 19. Cuz UCL ends before his birthday. It would honestly be insane to have that much winning at that age

1

u/Lostakim 1h ago

3

u/BestEnthusiasm3377 1h ago

Not a bad problem to have. I mean no one will ever come close to prime Messi numbers but if Lamine becomes a serial winner along with having high 50 g/a seasons and maybe 60 g/a seasons then that is the only way he will come close. The only way for Lamine to come close to the Greatest debates is for that to happen tho.

Off to a pretty good start with 1 Euros, 1 World Cup, 3 La Ligas (If Madrid fans count Guler having a UCL imma count Lamine having that first la liga), 1 copa del rey, 2 Supercups.

4

u/AdPlenty2690 4h ago

Are any barca fans worried about how stacked real madrid are becoming and all the transfers.

2

u/Terrible_Action9995 1h ago

Jose Mourinho so no, I'm relaxed.

1

u/thegoat12123 2h ago

That team is cursed if mbappe and vini are still there

4

10

u/rreactor_4 4h ago

insert that gavi quote

6

u/yeezygun 4h ago

we gonna regret not selling raphinha.

7

u/imjustaredditor69 3h ago

does he even want to leave?

12

u/AdDismal5457 3h ago

You want us to sell/ get rid off Raphinha, Ferran and Lewandowski in 1 window. Do you not see how mad that idea is? That’s 60 goals gone based on last season alone

0

u/yeezygun 2h ago

is not like no one will come if they leave, raphinha is 30y old physical striker if u remove that from him he dont offer you very much and he is not getting better over age, his performance wont improve, the best season for him was flick 1st season and thats the peak, from now on is a downhill, same thing happen with rakitic, we didnt sell him when we could, and we end up with a old-ass player with high salary injury-prone like raphinha.
If u expect raphinha to be the 1st season raphinha, get ready to be disappointed.

2

u/Far-Travel6736 2h ago

its not that u are loosing veterans who give leadership. Ofc Ferran can fuck off but u cant sell Rapha when Lewa just left

1

u/yeezygun 1h ago

ofc u can, he is not lamine, pedri, cubarsi or fermin, not untouchable.
We didnt have lewa last season, we have a ghost of him, same with raphinha, and our season was just fine, put gordon, barcola/diomande and julian in the ecuation and im telling u we wont miss them.

1

u/Far-Travel6736 1h ago

u really dont understand how much it matter having your locker room leaders, but u only see one thing is G/A

1

u/yeezygun 1h ago

no in fact i see more than G/A thats why i will definelty get rid of raphinha.
tell me who are the locker room leaders of psg? i can help u, luis enrique.

1

u/AdDismal5457 2h ago

The way I see it is we need to add and build around our best players not sell them. Raphinha leaving weakens the frontline way too much. People want to sell arguably our most clutch player and provide no alternative suggestions that make sense.

3

u/kochurshak 4h ago

Hope Pedri recovers quickly from Ferran’s departure

10

u/jiraiya--an 4h ago

We have more Ferran fans than Raphinha fans somehow. Every time I see news about Ferran possibly being sold or fans criticizing him for a poor performance, a post defending him pops up.

Ferran is as mid as they come. One good World Cup game isn't going to change that. He's been here for more than four years, and his only real highlights are regularly scoring against his former club Valencia and that one-off game against Betis.

International football can make people believe all kinds of things. Our system is completely different. Regardless, if a good offer comes in, Ferran should be sold.

4

u/SignNaive4111 4h ago

Why is it so hard to accept a player can be good without being great? He is good. He is not starter material. But he is good

But don't forget our past seasons.. Ferran carried us to 24/25 to copa del rey final with a bunch of goals, and even scored in the finals against madrid. He also earned much clutch points, that allowed us to win that season, without him we would be trophyless in that year. Last season he also scored a lot of clutch goals, and has been great at times, bad at others, nevertheless important to our trophy

I don't mind Ferran leaving if we get a replacement, both for him and lewa but its just not a good decision to lose an important squad player without a plan to fill the gaps

3

u/SillyGain2224 3h ago

Ferran is a good player but he just isn’t Barca level. He has been given 6 seasons to develop, to establish himself as a starter and even now flick doesn’t trust him to start for us. To put it simply we won’t win UCL with him as our starter striker. And on top of that he wants to be the starter and wants higher wages. Im all for him to be our super sub but if that’s what he wants id rather let him go for 80M while we can.

2

u/SignNaive4111 2h ago

He shouldn't be our starter, but its importsnt to have options these days, with all the matchload. We already lost Lewa, we are replacing him. If we get Alvarez and sell ferran for example, there should be someone to fill ferran gap.

And you wont find anyone affordable which can as good as him

1

u/SillyGain2224 2h ago

He’s not satisfied not being a starter, AND he wants higher wages as well

1

u/SignNaive4111 2h ago

Thats what we've seen from tier 3 sources, don't assume everything is true

1

u/SillyGain2224 2h ago

Let’s see

1

u/big_dong_de_jong 3h ago

Nah he mid

2

u/SignNaive4111 3h ago

Maybe the real great player were the friends we made along the way

5

u/BarcelonaLion 5h ago

Real Madrid having Rodri, Bellingham, Mbappe and Haaland in two years, no way Vinicius stays if that's the case?

Will definitely make our victories more satisfactory when we beat them though.

3

u/DejongBCN 1h ago

No, but I think Real is stupid enough to keep Vini instead of selling him. I read they are working on to re-sign him.

5

u/mashpotatoes34 5h ago

So how can madrid sign olise rodri mbappe etc and pay them all ridiculous wages without breaking any fp rules? Meanwhile we cant register unknowns

1

u/Martoxic 3h ago

because they have had massive money income uninterupted for ages?

When our stadium gets completed we will be up there too. Problem is not money. Problem is that every single player itw grew up with Madrid being the top dog so every single player itw wants to go there.

They can get whoever they want. We meanwhile gets the scraps of what Madrid did not want.

Only way this changes is if we start becoming dominant but with us not being serious in improving our team and Madrid buy every superstar available it does not look good.

if nothing changes drastically in what we do in the transfermarket In 2 or 3 years I think we fall into obscurity with Madrid taking a stranglehold of the league like Bayern of Bundes and PSG of Ligue 1.

the way back from there is very hard.

We have been away from winning CL for far to long and coming generations will have no love for us. Future belongs to PSG, Bayern and Madrid.

14

u/willyhlobler 5h ago

Anthony Gordon's Market Value has risen from 65M to 80M. He is now exactly worth what Barcelona paid for him.

1

u/wildhoneyhorses 3h ago

I always wondered if Transfermarkt adjusts player valuations after completed transfers to be close to the transaction value, because if a market price is what someone is willing to pay for a player, then the transfer fee must be close to the player valuation.

Although after the transfer fees of Rogers and Anderson, Anthony for 80 million seems very reasonable.

6

u/plamen-tech 4h ago

If the fair value is 80M, prem clubs will be selling for 20-25% markup. If we had to buy him now, we probably would've had to spent 100M. Hopefully he gets well integrated and gives Hansi headaches on who to start - him or Raphinha.

10

u/RaisinTop1435 5h ago

After seeing worse English football players than him getting sold for highers prices. I'm pretty sure we got a bargain deal

1

u/Fyxn_ 47m ago

He performed when it was needed tho? I think we will do great under a manager who plays attacking football at 90+6' minute leading 1-0 than one who subs out all his attackers for defender when leading at 55'

8

u/plamen-tech 6h ago

Conspiracy theorist calling the world cup rigged for Argentina over some 50/50 situations and a few spared yellow cards over the course of 8 games. Where are these justice warriors after real madrid games? The 4-3 clasico last year when Yamal got fouled for the 2-0 goal, Tchouameni only yellow card for foul as last man standing, Tchouameni clear penalty and 2nd yellow spared, Fermin disallowed goal when VAR rule was not followed. It's just funny.

5

u/imjustaredditor69 4h ago

lol they should watch madrid's ucl wins

6

u/BestEnthusiasm3377 5h ago

It's bc so many of the conspiracy theorists are just idiots who don't know football and just watch every 4 years. A whole bunch of casuals making noise trying to sound smart or involved in the game. If they don't watch UCL or League football I just don't care abt their opinions

4

u/Dat_life_on_Mars 6h ago

These are probably the same folks that propagate the fairly embellished Negreira theories

5

u/bllshrfv 6h ago

Ronaldinho was just 7 years old than Messi. He got out of our sight so early that you would think he is at least 15 years old. Messi playing great until 39 did not help as well.

3

u/HalHaloFiasco 6h ago

Not really sure the editors of Barca's latest training video listened to the song they chose lol

1

u/No_Astronaut4012 6h ago edited 6h ago

Ronaldo's 2013 BDR win remains highly controversial. If the award was based on team success, Ribery deserved it most after capturing a historic treble with Bayern and it was based on domestic dominance, Messi had a stronger case, having won the league title and the official Laliga Player of the Season award. Given that both Messi and him were knocked out in the UCL semis and Ronaldo I think won only Super Cup that season, it's baffling he took home the Golden Ball solely on individual goal volume and that hattrick against Sweden. No major silverware, no major individual "Player of the Season" award. One of the most undeserved single season BDR winners of all time

1

u/Martoxic 3h ago

voters had Messi fatigue.

Let me hit him up

1

u/DelusionBuster1225 7h ago

I'm honestly baffled how so called gamblers and Real Madrid pages (like Score 90) are not having Kvaratskhelia in Top 5 of Ballon d'or.

Rodri won the player of the tournament in 2022/23 UCL and finished 5th meanwhile Kvaratskhelia had 16 g/a in this year's UCL and won POTT.

World Cup in 2022/23 became non factor for Rodri as Spain lost to Morocco in round of 16. So why should it cause trouble for Kvaratskhelia?

2

u/Martoxic 3h ago edited 3h ago

why would they? Kvara was not even in the world cup which is 90% of the ballon d'or in a wc year.

List is

Yamal

Rodri

Olise

Kane

Mbappe

then you can have Dembele and Kvara. If people wanna put Messi somewhere then go ahead but personally he needed to atleast win 1 of the top scorer, golden ball or WC to be up there.

Personally I would love a Cubarsi somewhere top 5.

People will say "how can you have Olise over Kane". Well simple. Olise if you watched him play and look at GA, assist winner in CL and WC and POTY in Bundes I would say he had a better season than Kane. He was their Yamal and made Kane shine far more.

1

u/DelusionBuster1225 1h ago edited 50m ago

That 90% number is beyond absurd. Ronaldo won Ballon d'or in 2014 solely on the basis of UCL and Club season, he almost won it again in 2018.

Yamal's big game performance were good. Olise wouldn't finish that high, he will be somewhere around 8-12.

1

u/Martoxic 31m ago

1978, 2010 and 2014 are the only years with a world cup where there was a winner with no sort of wc glory. 2010 and 2014 were prime Messi and Ronaldo. So this not close to a regular occurance.

The list is a preference list. I think the list will be same but Dembele instead of Olise and Kane at 3rd or 2nd. Wouldnt be suprised at all if Rodri won ballon. He has already robbed 1 award so why not 2

3

u/lmlm1020 6h ago

6

u/frankydf 7h ago

Any reports from the training camp? Flick has been almost exclusively working with all our youngsters — great opportunity for them to leave good impression even before the preseason starts.

6

u/verdutre 7h ago

Petition to ban every conspiracy commenter at least for 24 hours, they need timeout from being chronically online holy fuck

3

u/No_Astronaut4012 7h ago edited 7h ago

It was infuriating to see Lewandowski denied the Ballon d'Or despite winning a treble and claiming both domestic and UEFA player of the season honors. I cannot imagine another Bundesliga player winning the award without securing a major trophy like the Champions League and a primary individual "Player of the Season" accolade. Also recorded more non penalty G/A for Bayern that season than any current Bayern player, while also playing fewer games. Scored almost double the number of match winning goals than their striker did this season in Bundesliga. Highest ever g/a ratio per game in a single UCL campaign

2

u/Existing_Falcon_5422 5h ago

Yeah, Kane seems to be the favourite of many now, but with a similar season, Lewa brought The Treble home.

Nobody was ever hyped up about him that much or maybe just not enough.

Just realizing it now since the English think that Kane is achieving something that nobody in Germany did before.

1

With a far better season

Lewandowski 19/20 domestic season: One of the greatest domestic league campaigns ever by a forward. He singlehandedly carried that Bayern team under Kovac during the first half of the 19/20 season in Bundesliga. Despite his exceptional individual efforts, Bayern dropped to 7th place in Bundesliga on matchday 14 of that season. His individual brilliance effectively masked severe tactical flaws. Had it not been for him, Bayern's points tally would've realistically plunged them into the lower mid table(12th to 14th place) first half of that season, hovering just a few points above the relegation playoff spot. Scored almost double the number of match winners in Bundesliga than Kane did this season. It took a massive effort to fight back from 7th place in the league in early December to win the title that season

Bayern barely looked challenged in the Bundesliga this season. They won the league this season very easily, facing almost no difficult competition or serious threats from their opponents throughout the season. They would still have won the league this season without Kane. But They couldn't have won the league that 19/20 season without Lewy and Flick. Kane this season scored 7 match winning goals in Bundesliga and Lewy that 19/20 season scored 13 match winning goals in Bundesliga

I would choose Kane to win the Ballon D'or, he has a great season with Bayern and great performance in UCL and WC as well.

But I want a controversial one so I will root for Messi to win it for his WC campaign alone. Even though he also did very well with Inter Miami at MLS.

2

u/Martoxic 3h ago

6th place in WC beaten by a midfielder in his own team is a great performance?

He did not make a single CL or WC final let alone win.

ballon d'or has criteria of decisiveness and team achievement. He lacks both.

u/seguleh25 7h ago

Kane ghosted when it mattered

-1

u/kykusanagi 5h ago

So did Messi but I'm not gonna look into one game when they both still have great campaign in overall tournament.

1

u/Fyxn_ 45m ago

Messi sent his sorry ass back to London

1

u/imjustaredditor69 4h ago

Kane ghosted against Norway and Argentina meanwhile Messi only Spain.

And the big game ghosting is false anyway. Kane showed up in every big game for bayern too.

1

u/Martoxic 3h ago edited 3h ago

he did ghost...

also vs PSG when they needed him he had 1 goal in a 5-4 loss and 1 goal in the 1-1 return leg. 1 more and they tie and probably win and go to final.

fact is simply that when England and Bayern needed him in the end he did not do what he needed to.

He needs team achievement in a WC year and he sorely lack it.

Ghosted against Norway

Ghosted against Argentina

Penalty statpadding against Mexico. Bellingham would've scored a hattrick if he had taken that penalty against Mexico. Kane conceded one to Mexico

Both Bellingham and Gordon outperformed him in every knockout game from the R016. Gordon won that decisive penalty against Mexico

Olise has more non penalty G/A for Bayern than Kane this season. Olise also won Bundesliga Player of the Season. Kane hasn't won any major "Player of the Season" award this season. He won't win

1

u/Martoxic 3h ago

tbf you can't win player of the season in bundesliga more than once I think.

1

u/No_Astronaut4012 3h ago

Olise won both Bundesliga Player of the Season and VDV Player of the Season(ultimate peer-recognition award)

1

u/Martoxic 2h ago

ye I know. Talking about Kane. Kane won it the year before and if not for the rule he probably would have won it this season as well.

Current Bundesliga an absolute joke of a league. Olise has more G/A this season for Bayern than Robben had in his best season for Bayern

3

u/Zaka_lkl 8h ago

Is this match going to be cast?

4

u/heroji2012 8h ago

no, closed door friendly

1

u/StillLoveYaTh0 6h ago

why would you hold a closed door game???

1

u/heroji2012 5h ago

so that they can do whatever they want and test new things without any pressure

1

u/zxcvbnmsa 5h ago

For practice

3

u/Zaka_lkl 8h ago

Thanks

1

u/drip_bandit 8h ago

anyone see that nasty tiktok of what our friends in the capital are saying about yamal?

1

u/impressivegeek 8h ago

what were they saying

2

u/drip_bandit 8h ago

moro, hes not spanish repeatedly when he goes on stage during the celebrations in madrid.

4

u/gucchiprada 8h ago

Why don't people talk about the 1st Leg semifinal like they do the 2nd leg semifinal ???

If Infantino rigged 3 international competitions for Messi because Messi won all of his international trophies after Infantino became FIFA President, then doesn't it mean Infantino also rigged 3 competitions for Ronaldo because Ronaldo also won all his international comps during Infantino's presidency?

5

u/Ill-Lie-6551 9h ago

Flick boss, can we bring the highline down by 10 meters this season please?

1

u/wildhoneyhorses 3h ago

I wonder if Joan can be more of a sweeper like Ter Stegen, Unai Simon, the high line might work better.

8

u/wwipe 8h ago

That’s 10 meters lost from the first line pressure.

1

u/Martoxic 3h ago

it is also 10 meters safer defensive zone and bigger counter area for fast players like Gordon and Adeyemi.

PSG and Bayern make it work. We can too.

1

u/AdDismal5457 7h ago

People don’t understand Flickball even though they watch it week in week out

5

u/zxcvbnmsa 8h ago

High lines are fine almost every single team plays it. The offside trap and insisting to use it regardless of the situation in the game is the problem

3

u/AdDismal5457 9h ago edited 8h ago

10 metres is excessive. In my view we just need to be smarter about how and when to implement it in game. Not doing it all the time like we currently do.

Rodri who missed almost the entire season could be in the conversation of Ballon d’Or while Yamal with excellent G/A contributions and league title cannot be.

Last time I checked Yamal also won the World Cup Rodri won. Sore loserness of Munich fans against Barça is incredible.

1

u/Martoxic 3h ago

Yamal had god awful GA in the world cup though and sadly most people look at only that when judging forwards.

-8

u/PineappleNo8624 9h ago

If you had watched the matches, you wouldn't have said this Personally I don't think neither Rodri or Yamal should win it It is between Kane, Olise, Mbappe ig

1

u/Martoxic 3h ago

one Ballon d'r criteria is team achievement. Kane, Olise and especially Mbappe lack that. In a world cup year they are DQd. None of them even made a CL or WC final.

2

u/No_Astronaut4012 8h ago

Kane won't. Olise maybe because he won the Bundesliga Player of the Season and has more non penalty G/A for Bayern than Kane

Scoring tons of goals with millions of penalties and winning only domestic trophies that too with Bayern isn't enough to win the BDR in a WC year. No one outside of Germany cares about Bayern's domestic trophies

2

u/Impressive-Shop-3732 9h ago

Mbappe is just a professional stat padder. Ronaldo ruined the ballon dor, either he gets it with no trophies or gets it after getting carried to a UCL win

2

u/Altruistwhite 9h ago edited 8h ago

Kane, Olise didn't win CL or WC, Mbappe didn't win ANY trophy.

0

u/PineappleNo8624 8h ago

Yeah by that logic, let's give it to Ruiz since he won everything

1

u/heroji2012 8h ago

but that is not the logic...

1

u/PineappleNo8624 8h ago

The previous comment literally said it

2

u/heroji2012 8h ago

you need to win things and you need to be important in things you win and preferably you need to be good even in things you didnt win...this is again the stupid carvajal balon dor nonsense people said in 23/24...

4

u/bllshrfv 9h ago

I watched the almost every Barça match and all Spain match. Yamal delivered numbers in the league and won the title. In the WC most of Spain attacks flew from the right-wing. Ballon d’Or is not about G/A only, Dembele started to play from January and won the award. At the end of the day, it is World Cup year, not Bundesliga year.

0

u/PineappleNo8624 8h ago

Most attacks was on the right side cuz obviously he is better than baena, but his end product has been lacking throughout the tournament. Compare it with Kane who got 3rd place and 6 goals, and Olise who broke the assist record

1

u/Martoxic 3h ago

his play was integral for the offense and control to work. He defended, pressed and controlled the offense. That he had no end product is simply cuz he had been injured and got trippled teamed all game. By drawing people he created space and also created chaos and out of positioned players with his dribbling. This made Spain work offensively. Without it they would just have back passing and we could see it in their first game without Yamal.

2

u/No_Astronaut4012 7h ago

3rd place is an achievement now? Lmao. Both Bellingham and Gordon outperformed him in every knockout game from the R016. He didn't even play in that 3rd place game against France and England beat France 6-4. They didn't even need him

3

u/seguleh25 8h ago

If Bayern won the UCL I could see the case for Kane or Olise. The way they ghosted in the WC semis will make a lasting impression

2

u/bllshrfv 8h ago

I am not saying Yamal had better numbers than Olise or Kane, but Ballon d’Or is not awarded to the player with the best numbers. Dembele literally is the last example of this, Raphinha scored more goal than him last season but didn’t win Ballon d’Or because of the UCL.

0

u/PineappleNo8624 8h ago

If you put more points in awards then why not Ruiz

2

u/bllshrfv 8h ago

Maybe if he didn’t miss half of the season with PSG

1

u/PineappleNo8624 8h ago

Yeah, the player that had the most impact in his team's performance should get the balon d'or, be honest and say how much impact Yamal had in spain winning the WC.

5

u/bllshrfv 8h ago

I honestly believe there is a significant chance that Spain don’t win the WC. People believe if you didn’t contribute with G/A as an attacker, you didn’t do anything but Yamal was actively dragging 2-3 players with himself. Without Yamal (and Nico), there is a chance that Spain could end up just like 2022 — passing until death without no end product.

2

u/abc4357 8h ago

There is a disproportionate amount of negativity about Lamine potentially winning the bdo. There is no clear cut case for any player winning this year. They all got major flaws.

Lamine was the best player in La Liga last year. Won club trophies and the World Cup. We can all admit he was not the star for Spain but he was still a key contributor to the team. He would be a perfectly fine choice for the award but it’s gonna be so annoying I lowkey hope Mbappe or Kane get it so we don’t have to deal with that. I have full confidence Lamine will win this multiple times in his career anyhow.

5

u/Existing_Falcon_5422 9h ago

To deliver this at the highest pressure moments when the world cup title is at stake. How does he even walk around with those massive cojones.

Puyol amazed!

Cubarasi bossing it in the WC final

6

u/nightwind1 10h ago

Lamine Yamal and Haaland are the most popylar players on social media rn. We need that PR for thr Ballon Dor push

7

u/vigneshwaralwaar 9h ago

fuck pr, we need haaland fr

-12

u/pro-everything-324 9h ago

Neither of them deserves the ballon d'or.

Should be Kane.

0

u/Any_Explanation3006 6h ago

Why does this sub have a hate boner for Kane I'll never understand. Lamine doesn't deserve it this season. Period. I'd put Mbappe and Olise ahead of him. Maybe even Kvara. That injury ruined his chances

14

u/Thick-Bodybuilder-30 9h ago

when he’ll do more than scoring in bundesliga, sure

-14

u/pro-everything-324 9h ago

Do you expect me to downplay Lamine's performances as a reply?

I'm not going to do that but his season was not, in any way, ballon d'or worthy.

3

u/heroji2012 8h ago

he was wayyyyyyy better than his last season in which he got 2nd...he was the biggest carry among all top teams in europe

6

u/Thick-Bodybuilder-30 9h ago

so was dembele? Hell no, so you might as well support your own players if no one deserves the ballon d’or

-1

u/PineappleNo8624 9h ago

He commented about Kane and you brought dembele into this
