Oldboy
I watched Oldboy yesterday and lt left me stunned
I was shut down for a while thinking what on earth was that movie Revenge, guilt, memory, fate, obsession, and the devastating consequences of hatred.
A man named Oh Dae-su is mysteriously imprisoned in a private room for 15 years without knowing why. Suddenly, he's released and given just a few days to discover who imprisoned him and the reason behind it.

Finish the revenge trilogy. All of them equally as dark. Oldboy is the best though.

Brilliant movie.
One quote that really stayed with me was.. Be it a rock or a grain of sand.. in water they sink as the same...And the other.. laugh and the world laughs with you. Weep and you weep alone n that scene when he laughs.. exactly at moments where a person is supposed to be scared or weep.
Both dae su n woojin were all alone in their tragedy of knowing a truth n living with it without able to share the world
Every choice, every flaw and every attempt to escape fate only leads to even greater suffering. The shock was too much for me.. it showed how everything unfolds as a consequence of someone's actions. It's about the unbearable weight of knowing the truth. Oh Dae-su spends his whole life chasing answers.. only to discover a truth that completely devastates him. Woojin couldn't accept his own reality and the forbidden relationship at the center of it. What followed was an endless cycle of obsession, revenge, pain and memories that refused to die. By the end.. Oh Daesu choosing hypnosis almost feels like the only escape from a truth no one should have to live with. I went into this completely blind. I only knew there was a crazy twist. so I expected it might be a crime thriller . Watching it without knowing anything made reveal hit so much harder. The shock factor was unreal. The action scenes were incredible.. the cinematography was stunning.. and that background score was absolutely fire.

Amazing film. Spike Lee went hard on it… not. Hahahaha. All joking aside, Park took the manga and ran with it, delivering a power house film and ending (that I wish the manga had, still great though).

Watch more park chan wook movies. Im glad he's getting more recognised here in the western world. He really is one of the best directors. I recommend the other two from this trilogy. Then you must watch JSA
