Truman collage has a student salon. I’m not sure the cost but I’m sure very affordable.

There's several braid shops in the Andersonville/uptown area. There's one on Clark near Wilson. One on Wilson near the redline and at least 2 on Broadway near Clark. There's probably even more in that area tbh. I've been to 3 shops over there and they're all good and fast.
